All this talk of JWS being on The Flash made me put in my DVD watched a few episodes. Kevin Smith you're right that show is amazing. I would rate it one of the best superhero shows though. I would say the best superhero show of its time.

Haha well when I was responding to the question Raven had already posted his answer. What kinda of cereal Raven? Lol

No. Warner Brothers Television put out a press release about it and they distinctly put

If he was gonna be Barry's dad I just don't get why they wouldn't have released that news in the press release.

My money is him being the older Barry who came from the future and caused the storm/particle accelerator/lab incident that creates (chicken before the egg) The flash in the first place. Perhaps he gets stuck in the current timeline? Whatever role it is, casting JWS is pure genius Afaiac.

I wonder if they'll try to go after anyone else from the old TV show. What's Tina McGee up to these days?

Yeah, to say it's too early for a time travel reveal is a huge understatement. Let JWS be Jay Garrick or Papa Allen.

Shipp will probably play Barry's dad. I think it's unlikely for them to introduce Jay Garrick in the first episode, but it's not impossible, it'd be so awesome if Shipp was Garrick

Would the Flash Season 1 finale be too soon? They could have JWS's character be mysterious all season and end with "I'm you, from the future."

Considering that Thrawne is the big bad of the show...i don't think time travel is out of the question.

Certainly not, but that doesn't mean it'll come into play during the first season.

Last saw Amanda Pays on some episodes of Psych.(Her hubby is on the show) I'd love to see her get a recurring role. And one for Alex Desert too.Maybe he'll be related to Iris?

They did say JWS had a "recurring" role.If it was just as Barry's dad, wouldn't he be considered a "regular"?

Considering his father is behind bars, and not listed among the other series regular characters, probably not...

I'm hoping this show has a soundtrack that's at least as good as Shirley Walker's work on the old show. Doubt it though...cuz it's Shirley Walker, but I'm hoping to be surprised.

I'm going to agree on this one. I remember hearing rumours that there would be a time traveling aspect to it. So this makes the most sense.

Going off the music they used in Barry Allen's scenes on Arrow, I'd say that we're not getting anything on the same level as Shirley Walker's work

It would be nice (assuming that Shipp is Jay) that the composer quotes the Elfman theme or Walker's secondary theme when he uses super speed. I don't care if it's quoted once, but I doubt they'll do it with royalties and all.

And Shipp being Barry from the future also works for me as well. I'm just glad he's on board.

I've always wanted JWS cast as Jay Garrick if they ever made a Flash movie. Whatever they cast him as, I'm pretty sure it's gonna be awesome.

What if, Jay Garrick in the show is a former professional track athlete people nicknamed "The Flash" who Barry idolized as a kid? Would you guys be ok with that?

I think I'd only be happy if he plays Jay.I could see him playing Barry from the future, but I doubt it'll ever happen.

I'd actually be kind of okay with that, maybe...the only way I've ever been okay with Jay's existence is if he's from a parallel earth, I prefer to try to keep it to as few speedsters as possible in our reality as Flash's accident should be a super rare, one time thing (it's a lightning accident for cripes sakes). And I'm aware Wally has just about the same origin Barry does as far as powers go, which has always been one of the weaker elements of The Flash mythos for me, so I would tweak that a bit or provide a more logical explanation for it at least like Geoff Johns did (well logical for comics at least)... But if Jay had to exist in the same world Barry does, I wouldn't be entirely opposed to having him be nonsuperpowered, your line of thinking isn't bad....I just really like Jay with powers at the end of the day, lol, so I prefer he be from Earth 2 and Barry accidentally discovering it while doing something new with his powers he's never done before in his "Year 2" as The Flash....although having Jay come to our realm on his own to warn us about something would be interesting in it's own way, I'm just not as much of a fan of that because it robs Barry of having discovered the multiverse, which is one of the biggest and most important things he did in the comics and comics history as it'd become a mainstay of DC Comics for years and a HUGE basis for many if not all of their stories later down the line. The Flash/Barry Allen has a unique and special place in history. :)

Agreed wholeheartedly. I really hope this series manages to show that The Flash is more than just a dude who can run really fast.
