Doesn't matter if he's Barrys Dad, Jay Garrick, or a combination of the two... I'm just happy this guy is joining the cast. He was so likable as The Flash, it's such a shame the show didn't get past season 1....

I'm also disappointed they didn't attempt to make Captain Cold or Mirror Master look like they do in the comics. They pulled off the Flash suit perfectly, they could have given both Cold and Mirror Master more comics accurate costumes.

Also, I'm still thinking Grodd can be done early and done well.

Grodd doesn't have to speak, he just stares at you with those evil eyes, as he takes over your mind. He only "speaks" inside your mind, or through the person he is controlling. That way it'll be easy to do Grodd on a tv budget, AND the silence & dead stare makes Grodd even more unsettling...

Grodd is one of Flash's most interesting villains. He's up there with Cold, Zoom, and Mirror Master. If we don't get a version of him on this show, I'll be pretty disappointed. Those 4 characters should be the main antagonists of the series.

I've never been thrilled at the concept of a silent Grodd, but I'll be happy if they use him at all.

It's basically the only way for them to use Grodd on tv. Can you imagine them making Grodd speak on a tv budget? I don't think it could work convincingly.

After all, the most important part of Grodd is his telepathy and the fact that he is a gorilla. Both elements are still intact. But yeah, I'd prefer he speak too, but idk how feasible that is on tv. Just trying to be realistic.

i think grodd can work on a TV budget just buy a gorilla suit

I'd imagine using a real ape would be the hard part. But if they're not going with a guy in a costume, how hard can it be to CG some moving lips?

I'd be satisfied with an old school POTA costume.:woot:

Except Lois Lane got married to Clark Kent in the comics, so even that is not a difference. They may have done it with Barry and Iris first, but they did it with Lois and Clark as well.

Oops, that's true but it was much later. Barry and Iris was at lest twenty years before..

Eh i think the budget for tv shows on the CW is pretty limited, it'd take a considerable chunk of their budget for the entire season to make a talking Grodd look realistic

Oh, I think they will TRY to do Grodd even if it's just a wrestler in a ape suit.

getting one of Flash's most popular and best villains on his very own show isn't worth the effort....

right....

I think he meant it would take too much of the show's limited budget and the show would suffer as a whole.

There is one way to use Gorilla Grodd in Flash series, use real ape for close-up shot, show only eyes and show that he is controlling some human telepathically, he takes over his mind then use that man as Grodd, who will look human but his brain and actions would be controlled by Grodd.

Yep. I don't want to see a man in a suit or obvious computer effects being used to make a real gorilla's mouth move.

Oh okay then yeah

Agreed, I've been championing this idea too. It's the best way. Just so long as there is enough focus on the real Grodd (who i think should have the headgear from the comics) I'll be happy with this direction.

Also: although I'm fine with Grodd, I'd rather Gorilla City not exist.

Only way I see them pulling off Grodd is towards the end of the shows run, in the last third or so of a season, when they'd have the most budget to throw at it, and when tv effects will have had a chance to get better, even then they'd have a hard time, it would be a huge shame to not see Grodd at all though.

They could make a gorilla talk the way they did back in the 90's

Honestly though, they might not even get a gorilla just because animals can be very hard to work with. hey probably wouldn't be able to get the gorilla to do much, and working with them can slow down their tight schedule.

They could use a combination of things, in that case. Borrowed footage, suits, emphasis on the vessels, etc.

I know Grodd is one of Flash's biggest threats but me personally I would wait until the final season of Flash to bring him in

It wouldn't surprise me if we saw him long before that. I didn't think we'd see Slade in the present until the final season, and we all know how wrong I was.

The difference is though Slade is more believable and "realistic" for the universe the producers are setting up. Where Grodd isn't
