The Batman: Eternal weekly review and discussion thread

I agree about his covers being better than his interiors. save for his work on lil' gotham. Everything is awesome (see what I did?) in lil' gotham.

Is this over with? I've been waiting for it to end, so I can read it all at once.

it won't be over before next year.... That said, a TPB featuring the first 20 issues will be released for christmas.
Issue 13 was great. This new version of Bard is really engaging.

I'm liking Bard a lot.

Also, I thought Forbes was created for this series. I'm reading through some older New 52 Batman titles that I never got around to reading and found that he debuted in the first arc of Batman: The Dark Knight by Finch and Jenkins. His depiction there is right in line with how he was when Eternal started. Now I know.

yeah, he was written the same way in TDK. He's not a really interesting character, and I have the feeling he's borderline cliché with the whole "I won't put any criminal in jail".

It may be my only real grip wit eternal so far. That and the use of Harper "Mary sue" Row.

I like Harper. I think Forbes is interesting in his current role, but that's where it ends. He's cool for Eternal, but after that he'll have to develop into something better or go by the wayside (or graveside).

i don't think he'll survive eternal. He has not enough potential to have a place in gotham after eternal.

I can't stand Harper.

Oh, I thought this was only a 12 issue series?

Well ****, I may have to start reading. I don't want to wait that long.

no, it's weekly meant to least at least 52 issues. Maybe a bit more if I'm not mistaken. You should definitely read it. I don't like Snyder on Batman, but with a team of writers, it definitely works. I like the world building stuff. They are doing a great job.

Ohhhhh, this is a weekly publication? I'm really behind on all the New 52 stuff. I can easily deal with weekly issues.

Looks like I should get caught up on this storyline, and start joining in on the conversation.

Yeah, Eternal's been a great ride.

Looking forward to the next couple of issues with Dustin Nguyen on the covers. :woot:

I like weeklies, and eternal is definitely among the great ones. I can't wait to see more of blackfire. we barely heard of him.

Another good issue this week.

I knew Bard seemed too good to be true. I now wonder if it's him behind the upcoming totalitarian Gotham that we saw in Batman #28.

Excellent issue.

I don't know how I feel towards the Joker's daughter; presently, I am veering towards dislike, but feel I should probably read the origin issue before I solidify my dislike of the character..

Finally, some Batwing/Spectre action! Looking forward to Tim and Harper now.

Batgirl/Batwoman/RH should be quite interesting too. :woot:

I fear for Batwing. :(

The joke on some reviews is that a lot of people are saying this is the first time that they've seen Joker's Daughter and actually think she's interesting and not stupid!

Also, anybody else heard the theory that the "Lion" guy they keep mentioning as Falcone's predecessor is Leo, Gordon's cellmate, and also Selina's real father, instead of Carmine Falcone?

I'm sort of confused by the Batman/Bard relationship. They dropped the bombshell last issue that Bard tipped off Penguin to where Falcone was, which led to Penguin killing 12 men. Batman seemed to NOT be happy with this, leaving Bard on the roof to end the issue.

And yet...in this issue, they're shaking hands like that conversation never happened. Thoughts?

Yeah that's something I was a little like what about. I thought I'd missed an issue. I'm enjoying Eternal its slowing down a bit to look at these different storylines.

Fantastic issue this week. Can't wait for more RH/Batgirl/Batwoman action!

Also, I like how [BLACKOUT]Killer Croc[/BLACKOUT] is like an anti-hero here.

It was an interesting throwback to his villain month issue.

Is this the end of Wayne Enterprises?

this looks sexy as hell. Awesome team-up is awesome. Eternal continues to deliver. The batman/killer croc team-up is great. I really love eternal, except for stuff like making batgirl the best in the world, with harper row being a close second.

They use some already used material, like we can see in the solicitations, with WE being in danger, but this kind of scheme is always interesting to read.

There is one other thing that disappointed me when I think about it. The retcon about the cult. I didn't like how Batman supposedly escaped on his own like that. The original story was way more memorable.

The last page is awesome! :awesome:

SPOILER!!!!!!!!

...no, not as in I'm about to spoil anything but as in....SPOILER!!!!!!

Also, the reveal of "The Lion"???? Of my gosh!!!!!!!

Not sure how to feel about Jason and Barbara but it's something that can be developed.

A little sad about Croc, not sure why Bard just went off like that (I know they explained it, didn't feel right) but oh well.
