If it came down to 'Ricky Fitts' and Pace, we'd be in for something great.

Fitts definitely has more of an obvious edge to him than Pace. That's why I said pages ago I really want to see if Pace can play a character as dark, twisted and intimidating as Batman.

The thing that I look for isn't so much darkness in an actor, it's their ability to convey subtle and ambiguous emotion. It's (relatively) easy to find an actor with the looks and ability to play the fake playboy Bruce Wayne, and the intimidating Batman.

But it's quite another thing to really be able to get into the psychology of the real Bruce Wayne, and effectively deliver a performance that is both obsessively driven, excessively pained, and yet still, somehow, likeable.

I'm not saying Pace (or any other actor, really) can't do that - but it's certainly something to consider outside of the normal parameters of dark hair and a tough guy look.

I think I would have been on board with Bentley if I had seen him really shine in some stuff outside of American Beauty. But since then, the only movies I've seen him in were Ghost Rider and P2. Granted, those were sh** movies but still... he was TERRIBLE in them.

Just some ideas. Some might have trouble seeing Gosling as Batman, but he's one of the few young actors out there that I think could match the dark intensity of Bale and perhaps even take the character into new territory. His range is incredible.

Batman/Bruce Wayne: Ryan Gosling

The Joker: Benedict Cumberbatch

Harvey Dent/Two-Face: Ryan Phillipe

Catwoman/Selina Kyle: Natalie Dormer

The Penguin: Paul Giamatti

The Riddler: Michael Pitt

Jim Gordon: Bryan Cranston

Dick Grayson: Richard Harmon

Lucious Fox: Courtney B. Vance

Poison Ivy: Alexandra Breckenridge

Mr. Freeze: Charles Dance

Harvey Bullock: Dean Norris

Rupert Thorne: Brendan Gleeson

Barbara Gordon: Sophie Turner

Renee Montoya: Dania Ramirez

Deadshot: Joel Edgerton

The Huntress/Helena Bertinelli: Krysten Ritter

Note: I actually think there is a slim chance that Anne Hathaway might be the one carry-over from the Nolanverse. It looks like she really threw herself into that role and it seems unlikely that they would want to recast after just introducing what might be a really popular take on the character. I think it could work, if TDKR is a good as everyone is hoping it will be.
Fan of HBO, FX and AMC original programming?

And a lot of people put their faith in the actors who they feel can pull it off, from past experiences.

But look at Keaton and Ledger, they were never the 1st or even 100th choice for anybody, but they nailed it.

So it does pay to think outside the box once and awhile.

I think Pace would do a better job than Fitts anyway :)

I could see Bentley as someone people would be afraid of and intimidated by. He looks psychotic. He has that edge to him that Keaton had.

Pace... not very intimidating. He might be better for a character that isn't so brooding and dark.

But Pace certainly has the potential.

And as I said about Bentley, he has too much a psychotic face to be considered totally likeable IMO. Keaton had a pitiful face.

damn shame Hugh Jackman is already Wolverine. i think he'd make an amazing Bruce/Batman

He had a certain amount of likability as Ricky Fitts.

And Ricky Fitts was a drunk dealing peeping Tom, so that's saying something.

Bentley does not have a psychotic face. You all are just reaching for reasons now. :o

What does that even mean?
What else has he been likeable in?
I see good things about Bentley, and bad.

And as for a lot of actors, just because he's likeable in one thing, doesn't necessarily mean he's going to be likeable in another.

I wonder sometimes if anyone has ever seen THE FOUR FEATHERS. Bentley was fantastic in it. Shows a decent range, fairly charming, and quite likeable

Like Robin.

If Bentley got cast, I wouldn't be against him or anything.

I just think his eyes are too manic, and that's not right for Bruce Wayne, the tortured soul behind the monsterous Bat.

Pace doesn't have that problem. He has the good look for Bruce in that regard, and nobody knows how he would fair as Batman.

You get the full idea with Bentley, we've seen all his range...and we all have different views on him.

I'd probably say Lee Pace is my top chiice for the reboot and the JL movie. Kudos to whoever originally suggested him.

I don't like the idea of Pace as Batman............................................................Just kidding :p
