The Batman Reboot Casting Thread - Part 1

But Pace certainly has the potential.

And as I said about Bentley, he has too much a psychotic face to be considered totally likeable IMO. Keaton had a pitiful face.
Agreed. I'd like to see some surprises rather than something expected.

From dry comedy, Pace can do dark and brooding too, but he has to polish it a bit. Lookwise alone, he does have this posh, mysterious vibe of Bruce Wayne persona and would certainly look good for both Bruce and Batman. His face and build are just right and too good to be true!
I want to see Keaton-esque Bruce/Batman making a comeback.

He already had dark roles of an angry Elf King in The Hobbit and a revolutionary vampire in the upcoming Twilight.:woot:

With Bentley, i'm afraid he'd still do Fitts in the form of Bruce/Batman.

I love that lol

Yeah, Pace has all the boxes ticked. He has the versatility, the look, the height and the voice. We haven't seen him attempt anything that reminds anyone of being a character like Batman, so thats where the fun lies, but I believe he could pull it off and over :D

Bentley, we've seen him in action a lot, and in roles that could put him beside Batman...is he impressive enough? Some say, yes, others say, no.

Can't do that with Pace, cause we haven't seen his full potential yet! :p

Thanks for the love Rodrigo.:cwink:
Plus, I really want Bruce/Bats in this reboot to be played by someone who has a legendary movie star look/quality, just like Keaton, Kilmer, Clooney (not a fan though), and Bale.

like i said pace would be more in the vain of keaton than bale he has such a puppy dog good guy face

Why? They're two totally different roles separated by at least 15 years.

Well its like once you see Jack Nicholson in one thing, you've already seen him in everything else he's ever done.

Does Bentley have the versatility?

He might, but I just can't help but think there must be a better choice out there. Even if you don't like Gosling or Pace, I think there must be someone out there that is a better fit than Bentley. Of course, maybe he'll knock it out of the park in that Malick movie and I'll totally change my mind. But for now, he just feels like someone who would be lucky to get a supporting role in a Batman movie, let alone the lead.

I agree there.

Pace and Gosling haven't been in roles that can make you think 'Batman', but we know they have the versatility and other traits to do such a thing.

When you put Bentley into the picture, he has been in that frame that makes people think 'Batman', Ricky Fitts and Blackheart for example...and judging by them and other things too, he really doesn't have the full package for the role, which is obviously essential. I just don't believe he has what it takes to be an amazing Batman.

Forget Pace.

If you want an actor with the potential to play a dark, twisted character like Batman, Joel Kinnaman (The Killing, Robocop) could be a good choice. He has that Bale edginess to him.

His name will be suggested everywhere, Fassbender-style, once the Robocop trailers hit.

He actually does a great job with an American accent on AMC's The Killing. I wouldn't have guessed he isn't from the US.

Walton Goggins - The Joker

Untitled-11-2.png

Goggins is currently one of my favorite actors out there. His character in Justified may be one of the best characters on television at the moment. Even if he wasn't the Joker, I would love to see his take on one of the members of Batman's rogues gallery.

He's a great actor. But I feel he would be suited as Green Arrow, he has that edginess and also the perfect look.

To be frank, after two TDK movies with Bale, I personally think it's not necessarily Bats will be played by an actor with the likeness of Bale.
But I think Kinnaman is a better suggestion than Bentley....Kinnaman at least has a big screen presence, I don't see anything special in Bentley.

He certainly has what it takes by all means, but I hope WB nab him for Green Arrow, he's got pratically everything for that character.

There won't be a Green Arrow film anytime soon. Batman and JL are much more of a priority.

Plus, I think they should go with someone older for GA, on par with the 1980s comics.

The TV series Arrow will already cover young Green Arrow.

Before the New 52 reboot, GA was unique because he was one of the few older superheroes active in his late 40s.

The only thing about Joel that suggests Green Arrow more than Batman are his hair color and facial hair. Both can be changed.

Another problem with Pace is according to his fanbase, Pace is gay and dating photographer Carter Smith.

Not that WB couldn't cover that up, but it makes things tricky.

I don't have anything against Kinnaman, but I'm afraid that Kinnaman looks a tad too cold for Bruce. Now I see why he's a Robocop.:yay:
I believe loyal fans of Bruce Wayne wants him to have a bit of soulful look to him despite his tortured soul, not like cold-blooded look.
If not Pace, anyone who has the factor is okay. With Pace, I just see him as the (more refined) classic version.

That makes no sense. Bale has the coldblooded look perfect.
If anything, JK has the potential to build off of what Bale did with the character.

Bruce Wayne has to be a badass to audiences. He has to be an intimidating figure, otherwise you end up with Clooney.

I just watched John Carter and I realized that Taylor Kitsch would make a pretty good Batman. Maybe it was just the voice but he gave me a Batman vibe.

Kitsch already ruined one classic literary character... why give him another one?

Clooney doesn't have range, and he looks like the same character in everything he's in. That is why I couldn't buy him as Bats, I see George Clooney.

Bale doesn't look THAT cold compared to Kinnaman.

Clooney has more range than people give him credit for. If you watch Syriana, From Dusk til Dawn or The American, you can see that he could have portrayed a good, dark Batman if the script and the direction hadn't been complete sh**. He does have a persona that he reverts to in most of his movies, but that's what movie stars do (see: Tom Cruise, Will Smith, Cary Grant, and any big name blockbuster star). But he is capable of stepping outside of it when the role calls for it.
