The Batman Reboot Casting Thread - Part 2

i'm in the minority that thinks Hugo Strange sucks
He's gotten popular because of the games. He is pretty lame IMO but a good writter could change all of that.

I badly, BADLY want Olivia Wilde to fit in someplace. She might make a good Ivy.

Fairuza Balk is still my Harley Quinn though.

My opinion. I'm not a fan of Loki at all, he's a pretty lame villain in my eyes. His motivations are childish. Strange has a unique look to him and he's bat**** crazy, no pun intended. A good actor like Malkovich, Daniel Day lewis, Robin Williams would be able to pull him off. Even if ppl dont like him, hes a good character to open the door to a load of freaks in Gotham. His experiments could lead to the creation of a lot of rogues.

I think Robin Williams too when I think of Hugo Strange.

Christina Hendricks for Poison Ivy, Jessica Chastain for Vicki Vale. Wouldnt bring in Julie Madison but if she would be in the reboot i would cast Olivia Wilde for the role.

I don't know what you're Picarding at because Hendricks as Poison Ivy and Chastian as Vicky Vale sound great to me.

I thought they were Picarding at Wilde. And if that's the case, I'd agree with them.

There's nothing wrong with Wilde. :argh:

Well, there's nothing...anything with her, really. She's bland as dry toast.

If you're facepalming at Hendricks/Ivy, Chastain/Vale...then im facepalming at you.

If it's about Olivia Wilde, i would have you know that i dont like Julie Madison or Olivia Wilde lol. Even though she's hot.

You know who might be an interesting Harley Quinn?

Mila Kunis.

She is beautiful but has a dangerous air about her, a good sense of humour and a distinctive (some would say annoying) voice.

Remember when Lachy Hulme was considered for the Joker? well nowadays he could probably be a good Penguin....

No, it was just Wilde! lol

But she could pull of that same blandness that Macpherson did in B&R!

Julie Madison was a pretty interesting character in the comics...she deserves better than Macpherson and Wilde.

That is one new thing I am looking forward to with the Joker getting rebooted is we HAVE to see Harley this time around...right? An actress who expressed a high interest in playing her was Kristen Bell. I didn't really dig it at first but she has grown on me.

I don't mind Wilde, but I could never see her fitting the role of Poison Ivy.

Hendricks or Chastain for poison Ivy, sure. Heck, I'd even go Amy Adams..but, wilde...just don't see it.

Harley for the reboot, for sure. But my issue is, whoever is cast for the part...ill have a hard time with because im always be thinking "Gosh, only if Brittany Murphy was still alive to play this part."

To me, Murphy was born to play Harley Quinn. Then she passed away :csad:, so i guess not.

What do they do that Wilde can't? Hendricks might be the worst actress out of the lot and beside her boobs she's built like a linebacker.

I don't want an Ivy thats built like a big backed yardworker.

Kate Winslet for Ivy.
Kristen Bell for Harley Quinn.
Melissa George for Catwoman.
Olivia Wilde for Vicki Vale in a role no bigger than in Arkham City.

No Julie Madison please.

Alicia Silverstone for Catwoman

Is she that bad that a good director couldn't get more out of her? Look at Robert Deniro in some of his more regular roles. Almost as bad as Wilde in Tron: Crappacy

How do people knock her and then want Hendricks or Bell? They're all pretty cheesy.

Kristen Bell for Harley Quinn

I'd love to see Kristen Bell as Harley. I've had that bit of fantasy casting for a while, but it's so unlikely to happen. But yeah, I saw her do things on Veronica Mars that I haven't seen her do since. I love her in Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Fanboys (plus, she was the highlight of the second and thirdseasons of Heroes, which were low on highlights), but the range she showed on VM belonged to a damn good actress, and Harley seems like such a great role for her: funny, cute, sinister, sexy in its own weird way.

While their movie careers are pretty much non-existent, Hendricks and Bell have both done much better work on their TV shows than Wilde did, and she hasn't really improved now that she has a movie career, either, imo.

I don't base my support or opinion of someone's acting skills on the notion that they just need a hypothetical miracle director to bring something out of them that hasn't been suggested in any of their previous work. I base it on what I've SEEN someone do. I'm not even really supporting Hendricks and Bell for any of these roles, but I've at least seen them do great stuff (Bell in S1 of Veronica Mars was bloody fantastic, Hendricks is killing it on Mad Men). Not so much for Wilde.

I guess we're going to have to disagree. While I do like them in those roles, I only like them in those roles.

I actually don't like Bell at all and think she's the worst actress out of the three. She's good at the funny wise ass but thats it. I don't even think she makes a good Harley because she's got to much of a dead pan face. Maybe she works as Babs in a Birds of Prey movie but keep her away from villains.

As for Wilde, she hot. Thats half the battle. As far as acting she's played a few different roles like in Alpha Dog, The Change Up and was the only good thing about The Black Donnelly's. We are talking about Poison Ivy here. She can handle a hot, smart, charmer with a temper and a branch.

I'm guessing you didn't see the entire first season of VM, then, because she did A LOT more than be a wise-ass throughout that season. At least, you sound like someone who's just seen some episodes or clips here an there and hasn't grasped the whole rollercoaster of emotion that was that show. The last few episodes of that season were both heart-wrenching and gut-wrenching, and she nailed it, imo. In fact, I believe she's better at that heavy dramatic stuff (like in Spartan and The Shield as well) than at the light-hearted stuff she's sadly become known for.

See, I don't think hot is "half the battle" at all. I think that's about a quarter of the battle, and I want any Batman rogue portrayed with more than generic smarts and "charm" (which I've never seen from Wilde anyway). There's a lot more going on with Ivy than that, or at least, there could/should be if they're gonna portray her in a (good) cinematic Batman story (I'm not a big Ivy fan in general and don't really care to see her at all, tbh). But like you said, we'll probably just have to disagree on her.
