The Best Movie Ever Made

I know NOTHING about Star Trek, never seen a movie or episode or bought a Star Trek cereal or nothing :down
I like Spock, I guess. He has cool ears.
That being said, if I watch Wrath of Khan, I won't feel the need to punch someone?

JC's The Thing.

Pure awesome paranoia from the 80's that even today is great to watch. Timeless.
I definitely agree with this, but I'm going with Jaws. Everything; directing, script, acting, score, setting, it all works. A truly amazing cinematic achievment.

Honorable mentions:
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
John Carpenter's The Thing
Battle Royale
Psycho
Goodfellas
Alien
To Kill A Mocking Bird
...and many others that I can't think of at this moment.

Regardless of these, my favorite movie is Tony Scott's Man on Fire. Best revenge flick ever made.

 Ya lost me, Leto.

He's baffled that someone would choose a Trek film for greatest film of all time, but alas he does not know the greatness known as WRATH OF KHAN! But I personally like Star Trek 6: Undiscovered Country, Star Trek 4: Voyage Home, and Star Trek 8: First Contact better :(

Gams it gets my recomendation but like I said I think Star Trek 4, 6, and 8 are more fun but Star Trek 2 is the best of all the Trek movies.

Get your hands on some episodes of the original series. I'll watch that show whenever it's on. I find it so much better than Star Wars, which I never felt was that great to begin with...

For me it's in-between Pulp Fiction, Die Hard, and Raiders of the Lost Ark.
They're all equal in my eyes.

It came off to me as part of a conversation in progress when I first read it, like someone was already talking about Wrath of Khan. Probably just the way you worded your intro thing or something.

Ok, some good opinions.
I guess I'll borrow Khan from my ST loving friend.
Do it, it's fun.
I don't really like Star Trek. The only Star Trek thing I do like are the films.

never seen khan but that " i couldnt help but notice your pain, share it with me" line gave me chills the first time i herad it in a tupac song

The Shining

I can't praise it enough. Stanley Kubrick, bless his soul, nailed it. Along with Jack Nicholson's amazing performance. Classic and best, not only horror, movie ever.

King of Kings (1961).

You already know the plot but what you might not know is that it was really controversial in it's time. Jesus, Salome, Mary and Mary Magdalene were all young and "dreamy" as they said back then.
Nonetheless, the movie featured a talented cast ( Rip Torn, Robert Ryan, Ron Randall, Jeffrey Hunter, Brigid Bazlen ) and was paced very well. It integrated the theological aspects without becoming plodding. It set itself apart by the panoramic splendor in so many scenes. It was much more colorful that any Christ bio movie before it or since.

The Grapes Of Wraith (1940) was considered the best film ever untill Citizen Kane had a re-release in 1958.

Almost Famous

Words cannot describe how much I love this movie. There's just so much love and effort involved in it that the only person I could imagine not liking it is someone living in the most cynical black hole known to man (or someone with the worst taste in music imaginable). I always walk away from the film with such a good feeling. The acting, the pacing, the way it's shot, the soundtrack and just about everything else about it is virtually flawless. I'm in love with it.

A close second would be Goodfellas, which is still the most realistic and visceral portryal of the mafia ever put on the big screen.

I just can't pick one movie for best ever, there many movies I love that to my eyes are equally great.

I'm going to say Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings because it's really just one big movie and is probably brought me the most joy of anything short of Star Wars, which is decidedly not just one big movie.

How do you know? Have you been in the mafia? :oldrazz:

No, but if you actually read about the internal workings of the mafia as well as done some research on the true story behind Goodfellas, it's not difficult to tell how realistic Goodfellas is.

Well there's another reason for me not to see it

Another reason for you not to see it is because you're apparently not smart enough to realize how great a movie Goodfellas is.
