Actully Scareface is the best movie ever made.

Scarface (1931) is a great choice, Paul Muni and Howard Hawks rock

P.S. I'm assuming your not an ignorant film watcher, and you have seen the original, that is 100x better than the hammy remake... Please don't prove me wrong :(

It's an opinon, everyone has what they consider to be the best of the best.... Stop being a sour-puss :cmad:
Its just silly to say anything is the "best ever." Unless you have watched every film ever made, you dont have any authority to make such a claim. Sure you can say"this is my favorite film"...but i these kinds of threads are silly. I get what you are saying though.

Batman Begins was excellent, but far from "Best film ever" title. Someone who says BB is the best film ever made is somoene who hasn't seen much.

So, finally the *****ing begins. Page 4! I'm surprised normally a topic like this doesn't last 3 pages.

Yeah I know, but it's based out of everything one person has scene, and let's face it, American Culture, (I can't speak for anyone not from this country so you guys chime in), is center around the TV/Movies so much by the time we're 20 the average american has probably seen 1000s of movies and TV shows and what not, so everyone has a wide range of movies to choose from. And as long as it sparks some intellectual debate, it's cool... But saddly this thread has degenerated into a cess-pool of Begins Fanboys :(

Agreed. BB in all honesty probably wouldn't even register in a Top 100.

The American Film Intitute has seen everything ever made,They consider Citizen Kane to be the best film ever made,(No. 2 is Casablanca) so I guess it's case closed.

For the love of god... start watching some more movies... This is just sad :(

Yeah, I'll do that. In the meantime, read what you posted just a minute or two later...

Idiot.

I think you don't have to have seen every film ever to know which is the best, you don't have to see catwoman to rule it out, but the more films you see, the better your opinion is I feel.

My choices are my fav's from the ones I've seen(which is a lot), but i'm fully open to find a new favourite film whenever I sit down to watch a film, very rarely does this happen, but i'm always open for it.

I've seen around 92 of the films on that list, and while it's a very good list, it accounts more for cinematic significance then the actual quality. For example "Rebel Without a Cause" (1953) is a horribly dated and hokey film, while a film that came out the same year "Blackboard Jungle" which cover similar themes is a 100x better and an excellent film is no where to be found on the list. It also only covers American Cinema which when someone starts delving into foreign cinema learns how little they've actually seen.

You are shaming the Bay State with such myopic bull$hit.

I only said Dazed and Confused in a half-hearted way, it's simply my favorite film. The person saying it's silly to claim any movie as the best ever is absolutley right.

The AFI aren't the most reliable critics, Third man is superior to Citizen Kane, I doubt they have seen ALL films ever made, as the indie scene is very subversive, and even the greatest of films buffs who are sunk into the indie scene barely get to see the bulk of them.

Yes because Batman Begins has the BEST SCRIPT, the BEST ART DIRECTION, BEST ACTING, BEST EDITING, BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY... yada yada out of the 100 years of cinema that's the best... No, it's not the same thing.

Actually, yeah it does. Try looking up the word BEST in the dictionary. When you begin to understand it, I'll take your opinions more seriously.

Batman Begins is not the best movie ever made by a long shot

Idiot.

Your opinion is meaningless to me because you obviously have seen a limited amount of film and/or have a great ignorance to the art of film as a whole. I personally don't really care, people should do what they want and watch what they want. But at the end of the day, Batman Begins is not the greatest film ever made and I'm damn sure Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale would laugh in your face if you even had the audacity to suggest quite a thing.

Your ridiculous, Citizen Kane whoops Third Man's ass, though I love Third Man. Third Man is great for it cinematography and atmosphere but Citizen Kane taps into what life's all about and is a beutiful film in terms of narrative structure.

Sorry, but anyone who rates Batman begins in their top 200, has not seen anywhere near enough films! It's good, yes, but it's not impressive, it's nothing special, it's just OK, why does everyone here love this film so much??? Please I really don't understand!

Yes, but Rebel Without A Cause is signifiant cause of James Dean,it's quite a famous film, even though it's a bit dated. Each film has it's own reason for being on that list, weather it's dated or not.

I could care less what a **** like you thinks of my taste in film.

Because you have no inner child, perhaps

:( It still horrible tastes, try expanding what you watch... Please don't list an asian flavor of the month title for diversity...

Citizen Kane is better than The Third Man,Kane is the best film about someone's life I've ever seen.

And why the hell not? It's you who isn't making any sense. That's your opinion, fine. But to criticize someone's taste because a particular film that you think is merely decent tops there list, that's just ludicrous.
