The Amazing Spider-Man The Box Office Thread

I really only think this movie will do Rami numbers if it gets great WOM. If not it'll have the same fate as the last Shrek movie & potentially the next POTC.

Because we never had drug talks in school........................................

Or a good lesson was never involved at the end.................................

I remember that story. Harry did cocaine and he became super successful and popular at school and everything worked out for him that arc. Drugs are cool

You defeat yourself. Thanks! Drugs in School WOULD be an adult/or at least teen oriented, where kids yellin GO SPIDEY GO.. or Yes Sir Mr. Spider-Man.. we will eat our veggies... or Power Ranger Goblins, or COWABUNGA Surfs up Goblins... or Dialogue that sounds like it came from A BAD high school (HELL.. junior high) play... is "Childish" or Kiddie Oriented.

Apparently the first draft of the Star Trek sequel script is gonna be complete in the next 6 weeks. So, I imagine there's no way that movie is gonna be release on June 2012. Less competition for Spidey.

/\.. yeah you're right... A goblin costume that looks like something from a failed Power Ranger production, a goblin 2 costume that looks like he should be spoutin "CowwwaBunngaa Dude" or "Surfs Up".. or riding a skateboard (not aiming at kids AT ALL :whatever:)

Are they really all that different?

No victor? He had foiled Joker's attempt to cause mayhem, had captured (or lead to the capture) of the Joker, had defeated/killed Two Face. Yes, he was blamed for the death of Dent, and "quote" will be hunted down. :whatever:

Kinda like it could be IMPLIED that Spider-Man would be AFTER Norman Osborn's death in SM1. *go figure* :cwink:

And as Ajendo already pointed out, TDK's storyline is lifted from what should of been Spider-Man's birth right.. IF we would of had a Director that had chose to have taken a serious approach to the characters and storylines, as opposed to the kid friendly, carebear approach we got.

the joker did what he set out to do... he brought down gotham's white knight... his actions led to batman, the guardian and protector of the city, become a murder in the eyes of its citizen... that is a victory?

norman osborn is now on the same level as harvey dent? a corperate shark or a DA set out to clean up the city and lock up scum? oh, that is quite a comparison... but i guess harry being upset at spiderman is the same deal.

It means what I said. TDK didn't feel like a comic book movie at all. It felt like an overrated generic action thriller where the main protagonist just so happens to dress up like a bat. Perma-white? Lego? hehehe um no.

Well, had sony and the creative team actually bothered to make a spidey movie that stuck closer to the source material, that's exactly what the spidey films would have been.

Aww you think so? Loooool no.

what's generic about it? most movies have the same 3 acts... what seperates them from each other is the performances and pacing... and TDK had powerful sets of each.

With a little tweaking here and there TDK could easily have been a standard James Bond film or a dia hard film. TDK imo didn't do anything new or groundbreaking and as for performances, the only performance worthy of note in TDK was Ledger, everyone else felt typical as opposed to exceptionally captivating.

We were NOT comparing characters, simply replying to your implied comment that Spidey was victorious where Batman was not. In that perspective, the Goblin (Norman) brought Spidey down then, as he was suspected of murder, just like Batman was of murdering Dent.

Agreed. And Ledger's performance was inspired.

Night and Day difference. And the Goblin should invoke fear.. not laughter.

TDK = great movie
Bat outfit = disasterous

that is an horrible, horrible suit but nolan gets away with it because the movie is so good.

I could/would agree with your principle if I felt the Batman costume was a disaster. Which I do not? Curious just "what" you would want to see in a Batman costume???

I like the Batman costume in TDK. Now granted, I am not what I would call a Batman fanboy, as in I have never read a comic, etc. But I still think the costume in TDK looks fine.

I agree the Batsuit in the Nolan films is nothing to brag about. Better than the GG suit in SM1, yes but still not all that great.

What exactly are your (both of you) problems with the Bat Suit? Curious? Being that I am not a Bat Fanboy mind you. It seems a fairly realistic approach (or as realistic as you can get given the subject matter) to a guy running around dressed as a Bat fighting crime.

*note, how did this get turned into a Batman discussion?? Oh yeah, for some reason my statement that Raimi's spider-man was child friendly/inspired lead to someone comparing the Batman suit to the Goblin suit.

^^ Funny how you had to insert that last Raimi insult at the end of your post just to let the world know how much you hate him...for the 1,000th time. :whatever:

I disagree. I mean, you have to remember, Spider-Man is a cultural icon.

STOP POSTING YOUR OPINION LIKE IT'S FACT!!!!! :cmad::woot: LOL

Where did I say I hated Raimi? I said his Spider-Man was kiddie oriented. I did not EVEN say I hated it actually. Even though that aspect (kid oriented, dumbed down, or whatever you want to call it), I did not like. Does not mean I hate Raimi, or the Spider-Man movies, which I do not hate either of those.

^^ Well, dislike is more of the word. I do recall you saying liked Spider-man (2002), but still.

I liked all 3, but I see the potential that was missed (in all 3, moreso in SM3), and VERY simplistic approach to the directing, the storylines, the characters and the writing in all 3.

the goblin wasn't out there to evoke chaos or undermine the social structure of new york... he simply wanted spidy outta the way so he could gain more corperate power... now his action of covering up norman as green goblin was simply to spare harry's feelings... nothing more... it wasn't to protect the citizen's of new york or not allow norman's final plan to become fully realized... simply to protect his friends feelings... noble yes, but nothing that made you feel that all of his hard work was lost and that he was now considered a public threat and enemy.

spiderman is an in your face superhero... he swings around in day light and is a rock-star... batman is more of a reclusive hero... where any bad publicity (in this case, very very bad) has far greater impact than spiderman's... since people see spiderman fighting bad guys and they can see his actions are good... that is why the scene where bale's batman shows up at the party to stop the joker annyoed me... i know why he had to do it but it was still much more exposing of batman than i would have liked...

not to mention one singular theme in all three movies... peter trying to balance spidey and wanting to be with mj... they could have explored multiple themes and ideas.

I don't like it because it is a busy (too much stuff going on) MESS.

my makes me laugh that batman's costume can deviate so drastically from the source material and get a pass but slight alterations to the spidey outfit is frowned upon. meh, not a big deal as long as the movie is good.

Star Trek was never and will never be competition for spiderman.Spidey is on a different level, Star Trek only made 128 Mil overseas thats sad even if its less popular outside the US

********, Star Trek will be huge competition for Spidey in the Domestic market, it will very likely beat Spidey badly domestic.

International I agree

Forgive me for not bothering to respond to the rest of your post because I'm going to make the dangerous assumption and presume it's as hokey as the quote above.

So let me get this straight, All Goblin wanted was corporate power? So after killing all the relics on his board and basically blowing **** up, causing all types of mayhem, throwing ginger head girls and a bunch of snot nosed brats off a bridge, this was all done just because spidey wouldn't dress up in Armani suits and play tag-team partners, walking into manhattan board rooms and making declarations of what I think is fair to assume to be hostile takeovers?? I think you may have missed the entire scene where Robogoblin quite casually makes a generous proposal to spidey but maybe that's because he didn't have an all too obvious portfolio or do a power point presentation of what his expectations were.

If it was just corporate power he wanted, he could have done it all under the radar and simply ignore spidey and let him do his hero thing. Clearly, it was more, a whole lot more than wanting corporate power.

now his action of covering up norman as green goblin was simply to spare harry's feelings... nothing more... it wasn't to protect the citizen's of new york or not allow norman's final plan to become fully realized... simply to protect his friends feelings... noble yes, but nothing that made you feel that all of his hard work was lost and that he was now considered a public threat and enemy.
