BvS The BvS Ultimate Cut Thread - Part 3

Very easy. I used a gift card. You can use a credit card but I literally got between the plastic frame that holds the disc and the covers and just popped them off and reversed them. It's stupid simple.
GREAT, I have plenty of ID card blanks (made a few SHIELD IDs awhile ago, no more id maker) I can use.

depends on the size of the screen lol
To ME 4k is like 3D is to some people, the images look too sharp. Like pictures were cut out and pasted to the background.
I love my Blurays but I love the portability of dvd, which Is why I have many movies either in Combo, or I have two of.

THANK YOU. I feel like theyre trying to push 4k a lot these days but....I dunno, man, I cant get into 4K frame rate. It doesn't look like a film anymore, it almost looks....too real.

Blu provides sharp, crisp picture quality but movies maintain that "movie" look to them.

But, hey, to each his own.

I'm watching the ultimate cut for the first time right now and remembered reading that there was some scenes originally in the theatrical that were removed from this. Which scene or scenes was it?

I finally bought and watched the Ultimate Edition (on Blu-ray).
It's an incredible improvement over the theatrical cut. When I watched this in theaters, I was hating the first half, but thought that it kinda started to make sense by the end, and appreciated the movie's ambition (despite its flaws).
In this version, I LOVED the first half and was intrigued by it. It's a much more satisfying story and movie, even though unfortunataly - having liked the movie even more - the flaws such as the CGI overkill in the final fight feat. Batman, Superman and Wonderman against Doomsday, and the flow-breaking tease of the Justice League, stick out even more.
'Batman V Superman' is a much better movie in its Ultimate version. It's a pity that the flaws I mentioned keep it from reaching a higher level of greatness.
7.5/10 from me in this version.

The only one I remember is when KGBeast leaves the scene in Africa, Superman comes rocketing from the sky which is his first entrance.

In UE, the first time we see him is from the perspective of the missile and him destroying it.

I think the shot of the Superman statue with 'False God' written of it is missing in the Ultimate Cut, too.

It's still there, we see Keefe doing the vandalism.

I honestly felt like I was discovering this movie anew. At first I thought 30mins was not going to be that many scenes but boy was I wrong. Holy crap is this movie so much more complete now and this is from someone who always liked the theatrical version. This is so MUCH better! You really see the dark and scheming side of Luthor with this. In the original he just seemed like a twitchy lunatic.

Also thanks for the replies to my previous question.

The people who already dislike the movie are never going to agree, but actually watching the film from beginning to end, and not just the new scenes separately, makes a difference.

Watched it last night and definitely thought it made the film better. Lex wasn't nearly as bad as I thought he was in the theatrical cut and it just flowed better.

Resolution matters depending on screen size.

DVD on 15 inch screen on laptop = Bluray on 42 inch TV screen= 4K disk on Ultra HD 55 inch TV.

I have a 50 inch Sony 4K and it's really awesome. I'm coming from plasma so the contrast took a little while to get used to. LED tv's can't replicate the plasmas black levels.

Finally watched the Ultimate Cut. Definitely appreciate the clarity that was sorely missing from the theatrical cut, but that doesn't change the fact that a lot of the flaws are still present. The tone is still the tone. All in all, I think this cut definitely warrants more repeat viewings than the theatrical cut would, but I'm really hoping the team makes better choices with JL.

We do.
But wasn't there a wide shot of the Statue with 'False God' written on it in the theatrical cut, or am I remembering it wrong? (I haven't seen the TC since March, and after seeing the Ultimate Edition, don't think I ever will again).

You may be thinking of the trailers.

I feel the same way. I very much enjoyed the theatrical version, and the Ultimate version only increased that enjoyment.

We've agreed on this before tho lol I don't recall the movie (maybe one of the LotR/Hobbit) But unless you have one of those Flat screens that are over 32", 4K just looks wrong.

Did the Steelbook Cover switch last night, it WAS VERY easy

I wouldn't mind seeing these sizes in TV's at work really, I just don't have the room for something that big in my efficiency Apt. wall size AND distance from it lol

Yeah, I agree, it's ALMOST a different movie. REALLY wish they had a commentary on at least ONE of the three discs explaining the differences and why they were changed
