BvS The BvS Ultimate Cut Thread - Part 3

I don't know how this will be received (I'll get to reading all the comments over the next couple of days) but I loved this movie. With the exception of Guardians of the Galaxy, I haven't enjoyed a movie in this genre more.

Looks like the Steelbook has both covers, just Batman on one side, and Superman on the reverse. So it's really just the way you choose to turn it.

I'm a bit puzzled by the Target Exclusive being cheaper than the others, but still having the same 3 discs, AND the booklet.

I know that, but its actually different in how you want to open up: do you want to open the case with Batman on the over, or Superman?

Maybe that's the deal: go to Target and pay a little less to their version that comes with its own packaging, cover/back, and a book.

Pick the best deal

I am disappointed the The Ultimate Edition is only available in Blue Ray. Not everyone has a BR player and from what I have seen DVD is not appreciably inferior. I went to the movie and the session that I had to see that day was in 3D which after getting over the novelty of this is just an annoyance and distraction.

It's 2016. Buy a damn blu ray player haha. Come on now man don't be that guy complaining about this kind of stuff. Blu ray has been around now long enough.

I have a bluray and it takes so long to load unlike a DVD and their cases doesn't match which makes my OCD go nuts having a couple blu Ray cases not matching with my hundreds of DVD cases.

So to get the Blu-ray Disc of the UC means I have to rebuy all blurays of the DVD superheroes I have.

Besides I hate how the UC has cut out the Superman scene where he flown down to save Lois in the Africa Scene.

Plus, Zack Snyder films look AMAZING in 1080p HD quality.

I saw it sold as a regular DVD at Walmart today. That isn't the Ultimate Edition as well?

I understand being OCD about your movie cases haha I used to have a big DVD collection that I was so proud of that was organized chronologically by year with all my favorite films going back to On The Waterfront and before. Then I started lending em out, getting Blu Rays (I have a PS3), all the digital movies (like I own MoS and BvS digitally through PSN) and once I moved, I just stopped worrying about my DVD collection, they're all tucked back in a cabinet in random order along with my Blu Rays. Same thing with my graphic novel collection that consisted of mostly Batman, they were all ordered from Year One up to Final Crisis, then the New 52s, then DKR and some Elseworlds and such but now they are just stacked up in my closet out of order.

We may not get a lot of them but man do we get some fantastic moments of Superman being Superman.

Anybody think "Fists and abomination" is kind of a weird way to put it? I guess it can mean hatred and disgust, which would make sense in the context, but I can't remember hearing the word used like that before

I love this movie. It combines my favorite Batman and Superman stories. And this Lex is one of my favorite comic book villains as well as my favorite villain this year, he just seriously creeps me out. Less than three weeks for the continuation in Suicide Squad. Can't wait.

Wouldn't surprise me if they were implying some sort of sexual abuse.

Got the ultimate Edition yesterday.

The more I watch this movie, the more I like it (minus Jessie Eisenburg) and believe people's dislike of the movie initially (including my own) was simply a knee jerk reaction.

That's really cool of you to admit that. I feel like some will just stick with their initial reaction and not give the Ultimate Cut a fair chance. It definitely feels more like a complete film experience for me, fixes the editing, ties up some plot threads a lot more cleanly, and really feels more like a Batman AND Superman film to me.

In the special features, I think it was said best. They used the comics as influences, namely TDK Returns. But they did their own thing with a new story. The Ultimate Cut is *the* movie, and it's the only version I'll be watching from now on. At three hours, it really is a superhero epic.

Maybe so, I feel like he was trying to say his father saw him as a mistake, an abomination that was never meant to be born, was disgusted by him, "You are no son of mine" kinda thing, which would make sense and add a lot to Luthor's hatred, sociopathic tendencies, and narcissism issues, but I feel like it could have been articulated better. Then again, that's not one of Luthor's strong points in the film, and you really have to listen and zero in on every word to really make out all that he's saying.

^^^ But that also makes sense what you said, some kind of darker abuse that went beyond just physical abuse, that he blocks out and couldn't even bring himself to say, just referring to it as "abominations", but Idk that they would go that far or not, a bit much for a Superman story, but then again this story seems to be heavily influenced by Watchmen.

I got the blu ray. Which version I decided to get? I got the Target exclusive. Really nice, I put it right next to my Dark Knight Trilogy blu ray set, which had the same packaging type. This one:

Hey NOW, I'm one of those guys that LIKES to have a DVD version too.
Laptops for the most part have DVD players. Alot places I guard that have computers have dvd players. SOME people think it's a waste (my dad) to buy a DVD/Bluray player when the dvd player works fine.....lol......but yeah, WHY isn't there a dvd version of the ultimate edition?
Not everyone TRUSTS those Digital versions either lol

Same here. The UE to me is amazing and the only version I will watch from here on out

Well blu rays now always come with usually a DVD copy as well as digital :cwink:

I just wish the features were on the ultimate edition blu ray. But that's just a nitpick. I could just treat the TC with the features as a second disc, leaving the UC as the main disc of the set, lol.

My UC Blu-ray has the special features.

BvS doesn't have a DVD version of the Ultimate Edition. It's just in Theatrical. That's the point we're trying to make

I forgot to look before coming to work. is there a Commentary on the film?
