TRAILER: BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE - Superman’s Perspective

- Close up of Metropolis. 2 years ago. Quick scenes of injured citizens. Cut to a scene with Superman floating in the sky, holding General Zod’s body, and citizens looking above in fear of reprisals. Cut to a News reporter for the Metro @ 6 News broadcast.

REPORTER: I never thought I’d live to see this day. For the first time in humankind’s history, we have a god living amongst us.

Cut to a scene outside Luthor’s office in LexCorp, Luthor is conducting research on his computer when a shadow appears to float behind his office where the large windows are. Enter Superman with glowing red eyes.

LEX LUTHOR: Why are you here? What is your purpose?

Cut to a scene where Superman rapidly flies in and shields a couple from a robber firing a gun. Another scene where he saves a teenager from committing suicide by gunshot wounds.

SUPERMAN (to teenager): Always know that you are never alone. You are much stronger than you think. (smiles).

SUPERMAN (voice over): To help people, to be a beacon of hope when mankind has lost faith in everything else.

Cut to Public reactions of Superman as he does good deeds throughout metropolis. Ranging from cheers, to surprised and even fearful looks.

Cut back to LexCorp.

LEX LUTHOR: How very altruistic of you, unfortunately, it would appear that the opposite has occurred: people fear you now.

Cut to scene of a public protest by Metropolis’s City Hall.

PUBLIC (chants): GET RID OF THE ALIEN.

PASSERBY (interview with reporter during the protest): Quite frankly, I’m not comfortable handing the Justice System over to someone like the alien. Absolute power corrupts absolutely, so who’s the say he won’t be any different?

Cut to another scene where Bruce Wayne and Lex Luthor shake hands on an agreement to consolidate funds to rebuild Metropolis. Named the “Metropolis Strong Foundation.” Crowd cheers as Wayne and Luthor look on with smiles.

LUTHOR (voice over): We’re much more resilient than you think, alien. Look at how far we’ve gone without you...

Cut back to the dialogue between Superman and Luthor in Luthor’s office at LexCorp.

LUTHOR: But now that you’re here...your presence threatens to stagnate humankind’s progression.

SUPERMAN: If the world really mattered to you Luthor, you would have saved it years ago.

LEX LUTHOR: Worry not, alien. My time in the sun will come. However, You will not enjoy your reign for much longer, Superman. For as surely as night follows day...

Enter BATMAN who reveals himself from within the shadows of Luthor’s office. Standing between the two men, though it appears he has sided with Luthor and is about to engage in combat against Superman, in actuality he is unsure of who to trust.

LEX (con’t): ...There comes a time when even gods must die.

Cut to Superman’s logo with Batman’s logo shortly following. Text appears: BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE. 2016.

FADE FROM BLACK.

The SPRAWLING CITYSCAPE of Metropolis SHIMMERS under the sunlight. OUT OF NOWHERE a bluish-reddish streak HURTLES through the sky toward the tallest tower in the city.

VO
My father once told me I would bring hope to my people.​

CUT TO:

GOTHAM - NIGHT

Thunder ROARS and lightning CRACKLES as rain pours over the dreary city. Atop a church, amidst the innumerable GARGOYLES, in a flash of lightning we see a TATTERED CAPE flapping like BATS' WINGS in the wind.

VO
My father once told me that my city was dying.​

CUT BACK to Metropolis, and we see SUPERMAN floating up to the highest point of the tower.

SUPERMAN (VO)
The last thing my father said to me was that I could save them all...​

CUT BACK to Gotham, and in another flash of lightning we see BATMAN leap from the church, cape spread like wings...

BATMAN (VO)
The last thing my father told me was to not be afraid...​

In METROPOLIS, we see Superman hovering in front of the words LEXCORP on the tower.

SUPERMAN (VO)
But now there's a new enemy...​

We see PROTESTS in front of a STATUE of Superman...

CUT: In a darkened alley, we see a MASSIVE SHADOW take out a mugger.

BATMAN (VO)
Now there's a new threat...​

CUT BACK: We follow Superman's gaze to see LEX LUTHOR sitting at his desk. STARING RIGHT BACK AT SUPERMAN.

SUPERMAN (VO)
But who can you trust when all everyone wants is to control you?​

In GOTHAM, a CRACKLING TV plays footage of Superman.

BATMAN (VO)
Who can you turn to when you've spent a lifetime befriending the shadows?​

BLACK.

The BAT SIGNAL FLASHES to life...we see BATMAN, EYES GLOWING in full armor. We follow his gaze skyward...

And in the lightning, SUPERMAN hovers, eyes BURNING RED...

SUPERMAN (VO)
I guess we'll just have to find out.​

I'd love for the ending of the trailer to be what was seen at comic con.
