Captain Marvel The Captain Marvel box office prediction thread

^ Yeah, it's interesting how those "fans" never cared about Monica Rambeau until they found out Brie Larson is an outspoken feminist. I sure don't remember them asking about Rambeau when this movie was announced... they only started doing that recently.

Some in the Marvel fandom feels that there were many other far more worthy candidates for the "first female led Marvel film" than Carol Danvers and they feel that Marvel is force feeding us Carol.
Don't listen to those people, they're full of crap. Despite what they say, Carol Danvers is Marvel's most popular non-mutant superheroine.
The most recent Spider-Woman comic didn't sell and was cancelled (to the joy of the people who are now bashing Captain Marvel). Monica Rambeau hasn't had a solo series in decades. She-Hulk is off-limits.

Seriously, who is this "more worthy candidate" those idiots are talking about?

TLJ was hated right away people who saw it like myself. CM is hated for Brie's comments unrelated to the movie. Mostly by people who didn't watch it.

Yes true but i dont think those people affected the box office results much,
I hated Brie Larson's comments. She could have used much much better wording for what she wanted to say.

I now hate her as a person. Added her to my MCU actors hate list (RDJ , Mark Ruffalo).

I still went to see the movie and had big expectations. I didnt like the 1st trailer but i highly liked the 2nd one.

I was kinda let down by the movie. I liked Brie as Cpt Marvel. I liked the story and the twists. I liked Fury.
But the action was luckluster. I wanted more. Its like they teased us. I dont like to get teased. I want the full thing.
How Fury loses his eye is cheap and undermines The Winter Solider.
A few things hit retcon teritorry but im willing to let that go as i understand how difficult is to connect everything properly when you re writing prequels.
And the worst for me was the underutilization of the Skrulls. They made them wimps. I didnt like that at all. A wasted oppurtunity.
EDIT : The Skrulls should be a force to be reckoned with.

So i understand the bad reviews.
In a weird way CM was worse (somehow) than the GotG 2 which was horrible for me. (EDIT : to put things into perspective Guardians 1 was a 10/10 masterpiece for me)

But i enjoyed CM way more than i enjoyed GotG 2 and i rank it higher but i can understand the people who didnt like it.
And bad reviews do not always translate to bad boxoffice.

I was going to see CM nomatter what. I dont care about reviews when the MCU is concerned and i dont think the masses do either.
People who didnt see this movie cause of Brie's comemnts are overreacting ,not movie fans or stupid.

Not bad at all. I feel Japan will explode one day for CBMs, even if that day is a long way away.

It has recovered in China a great deal according to BOT, looking at a 22.5-24.5m 2nd weekend, and a 160-180m finish.

That's a great drop from the previous weekend (I was expecting an 80%+ drop with how it's been trending). Personally, I would be happy with ~$150M final (due to China being so unpredictable up to this point) but I'd gladly take anything better :cwink:

They’ve had superheroes on TV since 1958 and have pretty much been there, done that with every conceivable story arc, so it makes sense that this would be one of the markets that doesn’t go crazy for US superheroes. It’s one of those international anomalies when figuring WW box office, like how China just flat-out doesn’t care about Star Wars.

So there could be like a 4-5% Thursday increase, when one might have expected the movie to drop by about that much. I have to believe that the release of the trailer gave it a little bump.

It's nice that the China box office has recovered. 160M-180M would start to push it close to Civil War. Even if it doesn't quite get there, it's still going to be a good result.

Son Goku, Sailor Moon, Naruto, Natsu Dragneel, Monkey D Luffy, etc. are clearly superheroes.

Look at Disney inflating their losses by buying all these movie tickets LMAO :D

Soon that's all the conspiracy theorists will have left. They moved the goalpost to 750 million thinking that number would unattainable (guffaw), and once it blows by that number they will have nothing left but "Disney is buying all the tickets!"

It'll tank like Justice League. It'll make around $800 million. Bad movie plus everyone knows Disney inflated the Box Office by buying tickets.
