Aubrey Plaza. And despite what some on here talk about limited acting range, she was extraordinary on Legion.

Who's the talk show host, btw?

Even on Legion (which is the only place I saw her in) she kinda verged on being one-note. Heck, the way she played Lenny in most scenes of season 3 was pretty much the same way she played Farouk, just with different dialogue. I don't think she's a bad actress at all, I just think that next to the likes of Pattinson, Wright and Jonah I'm not sure she can give Selina the depth that character needs. She's one of those actresses that only plays different versions of herself.

RIght, we are going to disagree on this one, chief. But tis' ain't my hill to die on.

I'm not sure I get the appeal of De Armas beyond her being pretty. Does she have acting chops? I'd be surprised if she ends up being Catwoman, particularly if they want someone more well known.

Exactly what I just said on a previous page. She's been in one movie that I know of where she played a 1-dimensional AI character that required barely any acting talent at all. And she's not American either. Beyond her face, I don't get why so many people want to see her as Catwoman.

She's in Rian Johnson's upcoming Knives Out, but has barely been featured in the trailer, especially since that movie has a relatively star studded cast. So she'd have to be really strong of an actress to make an impact in that movie.

Son, if you look at reviews for Knives Out, she is regarded as the standout in a group filled with great actors. Also, showing more of her character would spoil it. She also just finished working with two auteurs back to back (Oliver Assayas and Andrew Dominik), not to mention beating out multiple actresses for that role in Bond. I also don't understand why she gotta be american to play Catwoman, kinda weird check box for me, since our Batman is a lanky british dude. lol Eh. To each their own.

Now, if you still feel angry about her for whatever reason, we can meet up ''Roadhouse'' type style by a lake. I'll be waiting.

:o

As mentioned before, Selina has that rare versatility which allows her to easily transcend her lowly origins and blend in with the upper crust. She's classy as hell with movie star looks to boot! In that regard at least, de Armas would certainly be a great fit for the role. Plus, with education systems failing the world over, I imagine she falls under the umbrella of what many consider PoC. Not 100% sold on her acting chops just yet, but I do think she shows promise.

I already know Selina can look good in a dress.

I am talking more about the energy or attitude she has as a character. Armas doesn't fit that to me, no matter how hot she looks.

She's more of a Talia to me than a Catwoman.

Eh, I'm not saying she wouldn't fit Talia, but this is inside type box casting that would've never gone with Gadot as WW or Momoa as Aquaman. I for one glad we got them. Eh.

Salazar was awesome in Alita so to see her as Catwoman it definitely would be interesting or it would be unique

I'll wait to reserve further judgment on her until Knives Out comes out. As for the non American thing, the only reason I mentioned that is because of her foreign accent. I know Pattinson can do a believable American accent though.

IDK what Roadhouse means but there's no need slug things out over this. :o

I assume Pattinson will be doing an American accent. Is she able to do one? I presume we're not going to be seeing a foreign Catwoman.

I'm not saying she wouldn't make a good Catwoman, I just don't quite get how she's suddenly a front runner for so many people.

Ditto for Salazar. I've seen her on "Man Seeking Woman", and she was okay, I guess. But this goes back to what I said about Catwoman being hard to cast. Ideally, you'd want someone who can light up the screen, someone would can make the audience say "Who is that?". Unfortunately, few actresses have that kind of star power, and I think Warner might be tying their hands by making their search so narrow.

Well, she got rid of her accent to play Monroe, according to set reports. Also, isn't Selina part latina in some of them comics? And what really is an american accent now in this melting pot that we call america or in this case fictional american city named gotham city?

See, when I read or hear some folks talk about ''American Accent'' it just means that the person wants them to sound white, to me. Again, I'm not saying you're saying that, but I always get some kind of kick out of it. My latino friends who are born and raised here, but don't sound like ''Larry Whitmore'' from across the street. lol

I don't see the appeal of Armas now honestly because besides Knives Out and Blade Runner 2049 is she even that great of an actress honestly? I mean yeah she has the look but her look is too exotic for Selina. If anything she has that Tate Nolan/Talia Al Ghul look about her. Probably looks more believable as Ra's Al Ghul's daughter than as Selina Kyle.

I'm strongly, strongly opposed to the idea of Ana as Talia. Get a eurasian/middle eastern girl to do that part for god's sake, I'm sure you can find one.

De Armas obviously has talent, and is on the rise. There's a reason she's the most obvious choice for Catwoman.

I'd argue that may be a sign of how likely it really is that she'll be cast. Neither Pattinson nor Wright were necessarily the most obvious choice for their characters. Pattinson was on some people's short lists, but not necessarily the unanimous favourite as far as I can remember. Likely a coincidence, but could potentially mean that Reeves won't go for the most obvious choices for the part. The only "obvious choice" so far has been Hill, but that's only if he plays Penguin, which we don't know for certain yet.

Gemma Arterton is also on my shortlist for Selina Kyle/Catwoman

De Armas is a great actress and she's been on the rise very quickly as of late. she's the perfect choice for Selina.

Based on past castings — Michelle, Eartha, Julie, and Anne all had that charm and playfulness that Selina needs. I’m sure they’ll find it with this film. There are a lot of good casting suggestions here, some that are really different but work well. Monae, Salazar, De Armas and a few others.

Just to be clear, I’m not talking about the charm that some people like to base their casting choices off of... like how well someone would fill out the cat suit. :P

Yet, I'm willing to bet your latino friends at least sound like they were born in America. Saying it's because people want these characters to sound white is dumb.

I don’t think it’s a big deal if Catwoman is foreign.

And, um, having an accent - like some Latino people do - doesn’t make you any less American.

Selina's another character who I would barely even pause at being a different ethnicity. Her ethnicity has nothing to do with her character and her being a different one would change nothing. Just get the best actress for the job.

That's my point, bald man. What is an american accent? Most of my latino friends despite being born and raised here have a slight accent. Ana de Armas talks english the way some cuban americans who are born here do. Now, if you want her sounding none latino, then that's all you gotta say, man. You want her to sound more Pfeiffer and less Salma Hayek, tis' your right. Nothing wrong with it, just don't dance around it.

No PC Principal here.

Ana is the best part of 2049 aside from the technical qualities. She was also fantastic as a femme fatale in Knock Knock alongside Keanu Reeves.
