So what actually happens with the Avengers as a team by the end of the film? Is anybody even an Avenger anymore?

I'm guessing Stark's team is "The Avengers" and Cap's team is the "Secret Avengers", similar to the comics. Of course they are going to patch things up and be back together in the Infinity War.

I wonder if this conflict is going to to mentioned in Ragnorok. I wonder what Thor's and Banner's takes on the situation would be.

Kingdork,

First thank you for all your answers. It's been a ton of questions for you.

My question is can you confirm who dies in the film? From what I gather, it's Peggy Carter, Tony's parent's and Crossbones from suicide? Can you confirm if Crossbones does in fact blow himself up and if anyone else goes?

Thank you for your time.

Wait where does it say Rhodey is crippled? I thought he was in a coma.

I really believed them when they said the conclusion was a game changer... Ive read some spoilers but so far I dont see a game changer.

Maybe thats a good thing and Ill be surprised after all.

Also I agree, War Machine is better off dead then crippled. Take the plunge MCU! Come on!

I agree. I suppose the game changer is that Steve and Tony are left with a serious grudge, and that we have 2 groups of different Avengers now.

Which is still bad, because then they've essentially crippled Rhodey just to give Tony something else cool to do.

100% valid point. I guess he won't be hanging out in Captain Marvel's movie, unless he gets better. Not that I expected the MCU to go there. Might have been nice, though.

And that, technically, Captain America's group is operating as fugitives from the law.

Sad, but true. And it would have given Rhodey something better to focus on rather than being a punchline.

But Rhodey has been in worse shape in the books, so I guess there's always an out, right?

Thanks for the information, kingdork, really kind of you to share. Much appreciated.

I just want to do my smug dance because I called it months ago that they wouldn't spoil the death in the trailer.

Bucky being put back on ice seems like a counter-productive outcome. Otherwise it sounds great.

I think he can still be in Captain Marvel. I mean isn't that guy in the X men always in a wheelchair?

They probably won't do it though anyways but I don't see why that would stop anything.

Everybody dead or crippled will be back on their feet for the Infinity War. Somehow it'll happen, like Thanos just reviving everyone to be a dick. Only to smite them again.

If that's what happens, it's most likely to put everyone at literally the lowest point they can be - you have the team of "regular" Avengers who are now basically under government control, the rogue former Avengers who were broken out of prison and are now fugitives, Steve probably looking for a way to help Bucky and Bucky stuck back in cryo. And all of that is after a brutal fight between the two groups of former friends. It's an impressively low point to bring everyone to, which is probably the point. They want everyone to be at their lowest right now. It will make the eventual regrouping a lot more triumphant, and all of that jazz.

It just sounds like something that's gonna be hard to watch. Emotional horror story indeed. :csad:

Yeah, people talked about this character dying or that character dying, and this is actually worse because now they have to figure out how to pick up the pieces. It's like that line in the Hamilton musical, from an experienced George Washington to an idealistic Alexander Hamilton: "Dying is easy, young man, living is harder."

Bucky's decision is even more tragic if you consider that he's had the time to figure out what he wants, and he's decided that the pain of living with what he's done is too much. :waa: :waa: :waa:

Bucky asks to be put back into cryo because he thinks he's dangerous, I think Zemo is still out there or anyone else from Hydra could activate the Sputnik, which would be bad for everyone. I think the only one who can turn off it is Tony, but they are enemies. He is sacrificing to keep Steve and his new friends safe.
With Steve as a fugitive, he would be a problem because his mind is still a mess.
He needs psychological treatment as well, but as fugitive, no one can help him.

Why do you think it would be Tony? Not disagreeing at all, just super curious. But yeah, Bucky's between a rock and a hard place because he desperately needs treatment, but not only is it possible that there isn't anyone who would know how to help him, he and Steve are on the run so he wouldn't be able to get it, most likely, unless someone decided to help them. It's even more sad if it comes out that Bucky was mostly minding his own business in the movie and just wanted to be left alone before the **** hit the fan, because it means he didn't want to be involved in any of this in the first place, and he might have been fine if they'd left him alone and nobody had the chance to trigger him (unless, ofc, Zemo was always going to trigger him; then he never would have had peace regardless).

It's just a guess. May be Tony or may be someone else, I don't know.

Sooner or later someone would find Bucky and it was good that Steve was there to help him. He didn't want to get involved in this, but Hydra wouldn't give it up.

At the time, no one can help them because no one is trustworthy. With the exception of T'Challa.
I wonder what will happen to Steve and his friends? Where do they go?

They've got more important things to worry about!
