The Clinton Thread II

I think Hillary is a bad candidate. She has the warmth and personal charisma of Mitt Romney.

She's got more scandals than most. Between Whitewater, and that being under fire story. Who knows what else will come out.

More important is the air of entitlement she has. People are already tired of her.

I agree on all points.

Though the scandals won't matter. The average American voter doesn't care about scandals that didn't happen in the past month.

Let's face it, they are all bad candidates. Not sure how many people posted here back in 2007-2008 outside Kelly but I don't think there was a bigger critic of her that was a self identified Democrat on this board than me (well... maybe Matt). The very fact that I am not only supporting her but just donated to her campaign speaks volumes about the state of this election cycle. She's not an ideal candidate but she is the most electable one running that has a chance... on both sides. And holding out hope for Warren or some other progressive candidate is delusional at this point. Like it or not, Clinton is going to get the nomination.

Unless there's a progressive latina candidate that is... :sus

It shouldn't but whatever gets more votes is all that matters 90% of the time. :o

I've never heard a male candidate get asked if they pump their own gas.

This is going to be a long election...

I've never heard a Democratic candidate get asked if they thought their Republican opponent was a Christian.... :)

And yes, it is going to be a loooong election. But, quite interesting.

Why ask. Republican = Christian. It's those Democrats 'Murica needs to watch out for.

Hmmm... I would venture to say that Democrats have the same amount of professing Christians in their ranks as well, including the President. They just don't have a fringe group that is really loud yelling about it. They are yelling about other things like the "War on Women", "Cop killers", etc.

Seems a little like, "I" have an outside group looking at my emails and they are keying in on specific words/topics and pulling those specific emails that are not deemed personal. Those emails that this group that "I" have hired will keep the emails personal that they deem are personal.

IMO, the two biggest things against Clinton as far as I'm concerned is what is the money taken by the Clinton Foundation, and the simple STUPIDITY of using a personal email for government work as Secretary of State.

Not helping me in my choice making, that is for sure.

Yeah those are the two things that really scare me too. Isn't accepting foreign money a no no? Also if deleting a server should be a signal that she has something to hide?

I just wish that a GOP candidate would come in that is more Libertarian (minus the foreign policy beliefs!) in their view.

Clinton was a good candidate 3 years ago. Now...no.

I don't think she ever was a good candidate. She ceased being one to me when she essentially opened a "P.O. Box" while still First Lady just so she could barely qualify to run for the New York Senate seat. I personal think her Husband was a good President minus his nuttless foreign policy. His willingness to work with GOP made our economy strong in the 90s.

Clinton's economic record is sooooooooo overrated. He's becoming more overrated than JFK IMO. He basically inherited the post-Cold War peace economy where the United States was the unchallenged hegemonic economic power in the world. Think of it like the United States in the late-1940's/1950's where our economy reigned supreme thanks to how we had no genuine competition due to Europe and Asias' destruction.

While growing, China was not the economic superpower that it is today during the Clinton Administration. Japan, our economic rival of the 1980's, was (and still is today) stagnant. The Soviet Union had collapsed and Russia was rebuilding from its ashes. And Europe was developing the economic superbloc that is the EU. But that isn't our world anymore. The unipolar world that Clinton got to enjoy changed into a multipolar world where the balance of economic power is more equally distributed as opposed to being tipped in the favor of unchallenged American economic supremacy. The China of the 2000's has been flexing its economic muscles, not only as a manufacturing/trade power, but also as a consumer superpower for goods and resources. Europe has fully transformed itself into a single market to have a stronger footing on the global market. We are seeing the rise of Brazil, India, Russia, Israel, and South Africa as major players in the global market.

And let's not forget that the banking reforms of the Clinton Administration and the 1990's GOP Congress along with the housing policies of the Clinton Administration basically led us to the financial collapse of 2008 that ground the global economy to a halt and forced the Federal government to bailout multiple companies of multiple industries to the tune of trillions of dollars.

Hippie I think you forgot the artificial dotcom bubble, that made alot of people rich and spending

While the Dotcom Bubble essentially happened under the Clinton Administration's watch, I don't think that it's fair to criticize them for that particular incident. No specific actions of the Clinton Administration can really be attributed to the Dotcom Bubble the way the repeal of Glass-Steagall and the housing policies of the Clinton Administration attributed to the 2008 financial meltdown. And can we really blame the Clinton Administration for the general stupidity of people who fell for the hype of a lot of these dotcom companies? Can we blame the Clinton Administration for the greed of people who took advantage of the situation when the Internet economy was still forming along with its potential and magnitude not fully understood at that time? Plus it was a lot easier to recover from the Dotcom Bubble than it was from the 2008 financial meltdown. The Dotcom Bubble was essentially a collapse of companies that had unsustainable business models and people falling for the flash. The 2008 financial meltdown brought everything to a halt due to the global economy needing capital to be constantly flowing, which wasn't happening anymore.

I am not blaming him for it collapsing I am just saying that it got alot of money into alot of people's hands, which intern helped the economy because it got alot of people spending

Nice to see that someone actually admits that housing bubble started under Clinton's watch and not blame Bush for everything.

I think Clinton was smart enough to let things ride out while basking in the glory until he showed his yellow back in Somalia, USS Cole and US Embasy bombings.

I think what annoys me the most is how the Clintons tend seem to have Scandal Teflon!! It seems that the media loves them soo much that they ignore things.

Either that or some of the "scandals" are so incredibly stupid that the GOP has a problem of the boy who cries wolf(that the odd time they might find something worth pointing out people just say here they go again)

I think the email one was good especially after she purge her email server. Also the Clinton Foundation accepting funds from Countries with HORRIBLE women and gay rights records is another.

Technically she did nothing wrong, but it does look rather bad on her part. The Republicans should just have left it at that but instead they will drive this into the ground making people feel like what is the point of Government wasting time and money on this. Add to that the GOP basically turned Benghazi into a running joke with the amount of time and money wasted on all those hearings and are now trying to tie emails to Benghazi

The Clintons collected money for charity from people who live in bad countries. how is that a scandal? Even more the US deals with these countries so how is it not a scandal we deal with those countries?

She did fire someone for doing the same thing and she came off shady as hell for pushing back and then deleting the server. I do know that IT security people where able to crack a similar (fully patched) server.

Well when she runs around talking about being for women's and gay's rights while accepting donations from countries that kill gays and don't allow women basic freedoms like walking around unescorted or even driving it kinda sends a contradicting message. NO?
