Create a Hero RPG SEASON II Application
Character you have created: Gladiator
Alias: Erin Reed.
Speech Color:
System gold.
Character Alignment: Hero
Identity: Secret
Character Personality (Give information on how your character acts, what he/she believes in, how they handle situations): Erin has a sheepish and laid-back personality when calm. She feels that although the world needs heroes, it would be a pointless task to completely eradicate evil. Instead, Erin believes that both sides are destined to exist for eternity. Despite her relaxed demeanor, she takes note of the weaknesses of both allies and enemies. Erin can be lazy or off-task at times, which can cost her a useful observation. However, anger or a need to beat others can cause her to work harder to achieve a goal.
A strange fact about her is that she sees the battle between good and evil as a sort of game, despite potential losses of limb and life. It may be a little disturbing as to how she casually waves off devastating losses, such as civillian loss of life, to try and see the "bigger picture".
Even though she is odd in her beliefs, she doesn't enjoy losing the "game" of war waged between good and evil. Her ability is contradictory to her habits, but Erin will spring into action for the sake of her "teammates".
Origin Info/Details:
Erin doesn't know it, but she wasn't born in Kansas; instead, she was born at a test facility off the coast of Georgia without a name. She was the test subject of an experiment to create super-soldiers, and from birth went through radiation and other techniques to gain strength, endurance, and speed. Her female care-taker, Anna Reed, was a childless woman who treated Erin as she would a daughter while off the testing island. Despite orders to remain as nothing more than a handler, Anna would bring the young girl to her home and invested additional time and love towards her. The company quietly noted her disobedience, but did nothing. When Erin turned 12, the company viewed her as a liability; she had retained some abilities, but they weren't impressive enough to rival Superman or the Hulk. At the time, the powers were so weak that the corporation felt that they could kill Erin off and abandon the project. Anna suggested clearing Erin of her memories and sending her to be adopted. The corporation seemed to agree with Anna and mindwiped Erin. Anna's ulterior motive was to adopt the girl and disappear, but it never happened.
However, police forces broke into the facility and took Erin into their custody. Anna unexpectedly became the fall guy for the entire experiment, and was sentenced to life in prison without parole. The rest of the members were never found, and Erin would never again remember her first true mother.
The government tried to coax the child into spilling the details of the experiment, but she couldn't even remember anything about herself. Erin was muscular for a girl her age, but showed no other strange characteristics. She was set up for adoption soon after and was given to a couple in Kansas.
When pressed for information, Anna repeatedly referred to the girl as "Erin", so she was officially given the name by the government while they constructed her file.
Erin's abilities began to slowly resurface, but her adoptive parents didn't say anything; the goverment was already pressuring them to report any "strange and unusual" circumstances. Besides, Erin's enhanced strength and speed served well on the farm.
Erin herself became aware of her surge in power when she was angry and slammed her father's truck door shut. It slammed so hard that the handle broke off and the window shattered. There was another incident in school where she picked up a boy who had been bullying her and flung him into the woods. There were no authority figures present, and the school didn't believe that the girl could physically throw a much taller and heavier boy through such a distance.
This empowered her to work on her abilities until she could improve the consistency of them. She continued to do this through her teenage years, and took advantage of benchpressing competitions and bets against other men, who always seemed to lose. Now that she's on her own, Erin has used her gifts to become notable in her respective area.
She still can't remember her past, but has retained a few negative qualities from the experience.
Hero Type (Select one):
Brick/Muscle
Power Level (Select one below):
2. City Level (Ex. Spider-Man, Cyclops)
Powers (Be Specific): Superhuman strength, endurance, and speed, and a "berzerker" technique that appears when she's very stressed or angry. This technique pushes her strength to its limits, and she becomes dangerous to be around. Her skin is slightly tougher than normal, and heals more quickly than a civillian's.
Attributes (Select one at each category):
Strength Level: 80 tons
Speed/Reaction Timing Level: 30 mph
Endurance at MAXIMUM Effort: 2 hours
Agility: 5x human level
Intelligence: Average
Fighting Skill: Untrained. Although the corporation gave Erin her powers, she was never really taught how to use them.
Resources: Average
Weaknesses: "Berzerker mode" isn't controllable and causes a sharp drop in her abilities and energy afterwards, and self-injury from pressing on is possible. She has limits in her strength and speed, and she performs inconsistently when these limits are met. She gets distracted easily.
Supporting Characters (Does your character have a significant other? A mother? Friend? Who are they, what do they have to do with your character?): Her greatest attachment was to Anna, but now that the memory is lost, she wouldn't recognize her.
She has two parents, Lil and Jerry, but her relationship to them isn't as strong as it was to Anna.
List a few reasons why you've created that character: Erin/Gladiator was a writing experiment for me; I've written in RP's before, but I've never done a character like her before. I wanted to try something new.
What can you bring to the RPG?: I'm determined, I enjoy constructive criticism, and I want to grow as a player.
Do you know how to post pictures on the hype boards?:
Sample Post (Minimum Four paragraphs containing dialogue):
Erin lay there listening to the police radar through a radio in her hand. There wasn't much going on at the moment-a woman shot in some back alley, and two fires. She yawned and stretched out in the office chair she took from a rental store robbery-of course, not
her robbery. She had simply taken it after spotting it by the door, after beating down the robbers. It was all fair game, wasn't it?
While she sat and contemplated that in the darkness of her office, the radio grew louder.
'...Bank robbery at 3401 Main...I need backup.'
The ends of her mouth stretched to reveal a grin as she unzipped her jacket to reveal a vigilante's uniform.
"Showtime."
Once the domino mask was on, she hopped from her low balcony to the ground and started running towards the disruption. It wasn't as far as she'd thought; she could already see the blown-out windows and inner dark of the bank. She was no acrobat, but waited for another cop to force open the door. With his lack of insight, the robber quickly mowed him down with gunfire.
He must be a new guy. I've never seen a regular policeman do something that stupid.
Another tried to enter through the back door. While they feebly tried to catch the robbers unaware, the metal-clad woman had an idea. She grabbed a few bricks from the side of the building and ran to the entryway. The policeman's hole-ridden body kept the door open, and she stepped over it to get to the small team inside.
'It's another one! Shoot 'em!'
Three people aimed their automatic guns at her and fired, but the woman shielded herself with the armor on her arms. Using her speed, she continued to run towards them while chucking the bricks at their heads.
The bodies made a sickening crack as solid brick hit them directly in the face. Blood spattered and gushed as each of the four gunmen hit the ground, dead from the force. However, she didn't flinch. The cop finally made it inside and gaped in horror as he saw the gruesome scene before him. Then his eyes flew to the woman standing over them, and he aimed his gun at her. He was in utter disbelief that such a thing had happened.
'Put your hands up!'
"Nah. Don't feel like it, officer."
'I'm going to say this one more time. Put your hands up now!'
"No thank you? No nothing? I just eliminated each of your suspects.."
She cocked an eyebrow and shrugged.
"I see. Well, have a nice day."
The officer opened fire at her, but she turned her back and ran away. It was much faster than normal, and he only successfully hit her twice. Even so, it seemed not to affect the muscular woman. After making it to the woods, she ran as hard as she could to avoid any police cars chasing her.
In the distance, she could hear a helicopter's whirring.
Geez, you'd think they appreciate less work.
She laughed a little to herself.
I just don't understand it...Maybe they secretly enjoy being shot at.
One more small chuckle emanated as she began to run in another direction.
"Ah, boy. I'd better get the hell out of here."
