The Create-A-Hero RPG Season II OOC Thread

Looking at this application...I think this part should be added to the app. Not only gives me an idea for the MicroHeroes but it gives you a general idea of how they look regardless until I have a MicroHero made. :clown:
I think I left it out of the uniform/costume part, but in addition to the black tracksuit he will frequently wear a black climbing harness, since his grapple gun doesn't retract, he has to actually work his way up.

Writing one issue which shows just how much work he has to put in to scale a building to kind of show that understanding on the reader's part how hard this stuff would actually be. Which to me shows even more of his character and grit... but now I'm rambling on.

It should also make a MicroHero (and good work with them by the way!) a little more aesthetically pleasing than the black tracksuit top and pants by themselves.

So just make the colors black and a dark gray?

Beautiful!

Another suggestion:

If we're interested in still having mid-season sign-ups and getting a lot of people involved would it be a good idea to have a summary post every 2, 3 or 4 pages which starts out as "If you joined in late..." and then run off what's happened to date, some of the more poignant moments, battles, alliances and runs down where in New Haven the characters have been, are currently and are going to?

That way prospective RPGamers can read the last major summary and then the posts to date.

It could then also go on the CAH page of that site... would be a good idea to see that happen for some of the other RPGs as well, because even if people aren't playing they're a pretty good read as well. It gives people a starting point if they want to know what's happened up until now, then they can make their minds up as to whether they'll read the old posts as well.

Just a thought from the perspective of a relatively new guy. I know it might be a bit more work for the Game Masters but would make it far more accessible. People would also be less likely to break continuity as it would remind people a bit more of the whereabouts of other characters.

What do people think of that?

Okay, I've got a veritable assload of posts to read (OOC and IC) in multiple threads, but - rest assured - when that daunting task has been completed (or skipped), I will repost my Citizen application because that's what I've decided to do. :yay:

Oh, to Hell with it. It'll only take a second.

Create a Hero RPG SEASON II Application

Character you have created: The Citizen
Alias: David McDonald

Speech Color: Red Trebuchet MS for David/Bold Navy Trebuchet for The Citizen

Character Alignment: Hero

Identity:Secret

Character Personality: David McDonald is a real man's man - the All-American guy that every dude wants to hang out with. In college, he was a loyal wingman - when he wasn't taking charge, that is. David grew up in a modest background, and he remains humble to this day. He has a strong Christian belief system, but he's very open-minded and progressive. As a former football captain, David knows how to inspire and lead people. As a former soldier, David knows how to take orders and work in a team. As a politician, he knows how to be diplomatic and fair to all sides of an argument. He's Lost Haven's poster boy, and the general public generally loves him.

Origin Info/Details: One night, at a Lost Haven museum, there was a break-in. David McDonald and his wife, Katherine, were in the museum at the time. Acting completely on instinct, David tackled the robber and wrestled away the stolen goods. The robber escaped into the night, but David had saved the artifacts. One of these artifacts was a mystical amulet that dated back to the Jamestown colony. The museum curator explained that the amulet was said to give magical powers to its wearer. David wasn't one for superstition, so he ignored the story. The next morning, David realized that he had accidentally put the amulet in his jacket pocket. The museum wasn't open yet in the morning, so David had to wait to return it. In the meantime, he decided to test out the myth. Needless to say, he was caught quite off-guard by the results.

Hero Type:Brick/Muscle

Power Level:3. World Level

Powers: Superstrength; Flight; Enhanced Healing; Mystical Aura - Light Manipulation, Empathy, Precognition.

Attributes Strength Level:70 tons.

Speed/Reaction Timing Level: 40 MPH.

Endurance at MAXIMUM Effort: 4 hours.

Agility: 10X Human level.

Intelligence: Average.

Fighting Skill: Trained.

Resources: Large.

Weaknesses: David is constantly in the public eye as a result of his profession, so it is very hard to lead a double life. His loyalty to the innocent can easily be manipulated against him, as he will not settle for unnecessary collateral damage. If, by some chance, he is separated from the amulet, he loses his powers.

Supporting Characters: David married his high school sweetheart, Katherine, and the two have been happily married for some years. David keeps in close contact with his family - especially his young brother, Alan, and his even younger sister, Hailey. David has a very personable secretary named Martha, and a constantly nervous PR consultant named Tom.

List a few reasons why you've created that character: I still stand by my belief that this RPG needs a patriotic hero. With some IC time passing and the impending invasion, I can cut the exposition crap and get right into the action - something that I wasn't able to do before, thus leading to my complacency.

What can you bring to the RPG?: Fresh ideas and the commitment to follow through with them. I will try to bring the same writing quality to The Citizen that I brought to Mantis throughout last Season.

Do you know how to post pictures on the hype boards?:

Sample Post:

I decide to swing by the museum again the next day. For the life of me, I still can't figure out why it was closed. I tell myself that it might have just been for renovation or something, but I know that there would have been a sign or something if that was the case. Even more puzzling, the building was empty. Even if they were doing renovations, I doubt they would have moved all of that stuff - especially not overnight. All that said, I allow my suspicion take a backseat to hopefulness as I approach the museum doors again.

This time, the doors are open. But the place is still empty. Possibly overstepping my boundaries a bit, I enter the museum. Against my better judgment, I continue to venture deeper - my footsteps echoing off the walls. As I reach the center of the first room, I notice a man standing a short distance away. It isn't the curator.

"We're closed," he announces somewhat irritably. I suspect he isn't too happy that I more-or-less trespassed.

"I'm sorry. The doors were open, so I just..." I trail off. Taking another breath, I ask, "I was hoping to speak to the museum's curator." I gently feel the Amulet around my neck. I've started wearing it as a force of habit, I guess. It reminds me that I still need to return it.

"He's gone," the man explains simply.

"Gone?" I repeat as if the word were foreign to me. How can he be gone? He made no indication the other night that he would be leaving. Did the scare make him decide to call it quits? If so, how was I ever going to get this Amulet back to him?

The man nods. "Yes, he left rather abruptly," he replies. "Said something about his work here being done." After a pause, he states, "I'm Carl. I rented out this space to Mr. Roosevelt." Mr. Roosevelt? Must be the curator. "Any chance I can help you?"

I bite my tongue for a moment. Should I tell him about the Amulet? Will he be upset if I do? I don't know how much Carl knows about the museum or its artifacts, and I don't know if he could help me even if I told him. So I decide to keep my lips sealed in that respect. "Not really, I'm afraid," I respond apologetically. "Do you know any way I can get in touch with Mr. Roosevelt?"

Carl shakes his head. "No such luck, my friend," he sighs. "He barely gave me any warning before heading out. Didn't tell me where he was going - or how to contact him. He just left his rent for the remainder of the year...and he was gone."

Well, that certainly throws a mighty hitch in my plan. Maybe I should tell Carl about the Amulet. He could do something...right?

"Not even sure how he moved all this stuff so fast," Carl continues - more to himself than me by this point. He puts his hands in his pockets and looks up at the vaulted ceiling. "He always was a little mysterious. But he was a nice man - real history buff."

I nod arbitrarily. I'm sure Carl wouldn't have even noticed if I had walked away. But I'm still torn about this Amulet situation. What am I going to do with this thing now? Maybe I could give it to another museum. I don't know. "Well, thanks for your help, anyway," I announce. I take one last look at the empty room and turn to walk away.

"Wait!"

I stop and look back at Carl.

"You're that guy who's running for Governor!" Carl announces excitedly as he recognizes who I am.

"That's right," I answer with a smile. "I trust I have your vote?"

"Nah, man, I don't vote," he replies bluntly. "But good luck, anyway!"

I smile vacantly as I leave. He doesn't vote. Of course. That's my luck. It's the same luck that's stuck me with this Amulet. And I still don't know what to do about that.

Christ I missed a lot of typos in my revision. Thanks, but...it didn't come out like I want it. I just threw it out there. :(

Niiiiice...

I'm working on mine right now...

Trusty and Hound, Awesome work on your recent posts.

I just got a new one in.

Same here. Gotta catch up on my reading in a couple other games first, however.

Have the aliens themselves been described so far in any posts yet?

Could I get a link to that post, if so?

At this point I'm assuming they're largely humanoid in appearance...

"Tall blue man" that's how I'm seeing them at this point...

They pretty much look like Flux, as they are her native people. But they do have an advanced holographing technology so they can look human as well

Do they have her powers too or is she unique as the general's daughter, or not yet mentioned..?

That's what I thought.

For now I'm assuming they're big blue chappies who have the tech to make themselves appear human...

Thanks to all for helping me get that point straight.

new post up, nothing major, just more or less setting up the confrontation with Ultima.

I think everyone should get involved. Make it one big, sweaty, superhero orgy. Mmmm, that sounds like fun, right? :yay:
