At 96% after 106 counts so a decent chance to stay at or above 90%. I was so wrong and am glad at the same time. :)
Yes definitely a good chance now.

Again the Internet explodes while I'm sleeping, but it's been a nice thing to wake up to. It really does seem like the risk of being disappointed as an MCU fan is nonexistent.

Six hours to my screening. I can't wait!

Same with me and Thor 1, I used to full on rage when people talked badly about the film.

Now I just debate and enjoy discussions whethet I agree or not without any emotional ties.

I used to be defensive about Iron Man 2 & 3, but now I don't care what anyone else thinks. What does it matter, anyway? Everyone has their own likes and dislikes.

When it comes to critics, I always think back to what my film analysis and criticism professor once told me. We were discussing several films that were popular with the public but despised by critics. I naively wondered that all of those movies were doing so well at the box office when critics agreed that they were terrible. My professor laughed and said, "Reviews are meaningless." She went on to explain that when the audience has decided to see a film, nothing critics say about it matters. This shocked me when I was a college student but I eventually realized that she was right. My prof also said that not being able to affect the box office of big movies was a major frustration for critics, who like to see themselves as arbiters of popular tastes. Reading certain reviewers (**cough**A.O. Scott**cough**) one can clearly see that frustration and anger coming through.

Your professor was spot on and I agree about Mendelson.

I tend to think, if the movie I like that critics trash — what is wrong with their heads?

If the movie I don’t like but they praise to heaven — they need to have their eyes checked and their taste level is questionable.

Ergo they have no bearings on how the movie speaks to me. It’s always their fault not agreeing with me.

And I don’t need a movie to be good, artistically, narratively, cinematographically, technically or whatever float critics’ boat these days; I just want a movie I pay to see to be something I like. :)

I don't read reviews on RT.
I prefer to read the reviews here from people with like minded tastes.
9 times out of 10 if the majority here on shh hates or dislikes a film, I will also.

I love TDK, but let's face it, TDK didn't have to be the culmination of 22 movies that was built up over 11 years; it's just a sequel of a Batman origin movie. It's a great movie, but compared to what kind of expectation that Endgame has to meet, TDK had it a lot easy.

It’ll settle under TDK. It’s a good movie, but has some pretty big flaws that may be picked up as more reviews roll in, and the hype subsides a bit.

I think TDK is an example that shows that having big flaws doesn't mean that you can't get great reviews though. This isn't a comment about where Endgame will end up though, I don't care enough about reviews or aggregates to have any desire to see anything specific happen.

96%

Average Rating: 8.2/10
Reviews Count: 114
Fresh: 110
Rotten: 4

Exciting, entertaining, and emotionally impactful, Avengers: Endgame does whatever it takes to deliver a satisfying finale to Marvel's epic Infinity Saga.

Well, I confess to obvious bias here... but the story issues of Endgame outweigh any of the flaws in TDK, so I’m expecting a lower score.

However, this movie is of course completely critic proof anyway!

I mean it's a disadvantage, but at the same time an advantage of Endgame.

I doubt Endgame can surpass TDK in terms of pure quality but it might give me more goosebumps and makes me satisfy more while watching, though.

ImDB 9,4
Metacritic 78

It will be one of the top acclaimed CBMs at this point.

I really don't care if this beats TDK in regards to Avg Rating, Critic Rating, etc. I care much more about my final opinion of Endgame once I actually see the movie. It doesn't matter seriously one bit to me if this is seen as objectively better than TDK or not.

Well, reading the negative reviews, it's as I suspected. Some pretentious critics with impressive vernaculars and no joy. Means this movie will probably be most loved of all.

I think Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, The Dark Knight, and Spider-Man 2 are some of the only films where the critics and I align...

Without having seen Endgame, I can confidently say that I doubt this film will even come close to TDK for me. It cannot be overstated the quality of a film likelTDK contains. i never expected endgame to come close to it and that's not a bad thing. I'm still expecting a satisfying conclusion to 22 film build up that started when I was in high school. All I ask is for it to be satisfying and I'm really excited because everything I'm hearing points to it being so.

You can’t compare this to TDK anyway. Endgame has much more it needs to do plot wise in terms of wrapping up a storyline that has been going on for twenty years.

It made this old bastard tear up a couple of times, I can tell you. It really does conclude the 22 films in a very satisfying (if a pretty flawed) way.

But yeah, it ain’t no Dark Knight :D

That's all I need to know haha. I read spoilers so I know I'm gonna end up tearing up. I'm ready and I'm not ready haha

Who would think that the guys with the TDK avatars are in here saying it's better. SMH. TDK is one great performance. It's barely a comic book movie and barely a Batman movie. Rose colored goggles for these boys. Avengers: EndGame is the greatest "comic book" movie ever created, there I said it. TDK is maybe 3 or 4 on the list. Let's not live in the past. The only reason it was beloved by critics was for that Ledger performance and it being a Nolan film. Outside of that there are so many plot holes in that film. I'm not saying it's bad, we just need to realize that it is not the quintessential Batman or comic book movie. I would argue that Batman Begins is a better movie. Tired of these dark knight fans comparing the films. There is no comparison. It's apples and oranges really. Just enjoy the films for what they are, this isn't a goddamn competition.
