MCU changed Hollywood. I don't think other studios hell even pundits and fans etc... thought they'd pull off that first avengers film. Then for better or worse everyone started scrambling to make universes of their own without paying attention to why it worked.

I still chuckle at that image with all the actors for that monster verse lol

I've mentioned this before but my first knee-jerk reaction to hearing that Marvel Studios was working on a connected film universe that would eventually culminate in a full blown Avengers movie, was an extremely sarcastic "Yeah right".

It wasn't until seeing Thor's hammer in the Iron Man 2 post credits scene that I truly started to believe.

To go from the relativity humble beginnings of Iron Man to where we are today ..... I still sometimes have a hard time believing it's actually real.

I think the difference between MCU and other cinematic universe is that Marvel Studios did it one at a time, knowing that it's a gamble and a risk, whereas other movie studios just announced their universe but without understanding what it takes to make it work. Even WB has more or less suspended their cinematic universe and just focusing on solo movies now. MCU succeed because of Kevin Feige's vision, and the way he persists despite having to borrow a loan from Merrill Lynch at the time and that it's an experiment without any precedence or success. That's why there will never be another one quite like the MCU.

Eh, I get the fan service complaint if you're watching this and you're not really a fan. If you're evaluating the movie without any level of fandom, you may see those moments differently. But just because someone says it is bad doesn't mean you have to agree with that criticism.

It's really amazing what they accomplished and the fact that they maintained a high quality of movies throughout this run is remarkable
Most franchises have a mini-disaster by their 3rd film lol. Certainly at least when it comes to reboot or moving on time, things aren't quite the same (eg Fantastic Beasts & The Hobbit).

This movie IS for the faithful fans. We deserve this. I'll take those complaints gladly.

I agree. We just have to remember, not everyone reviewing this or any Marvel film are fans. Some of them are journalists who hate these movies but get paid to be there. But that said, being a non-fan doesn't mean their opinion is invalid. Like anything in life, some people like one flavor, others another. There are people who like anchovies on pizza. I mean, they're wrong. But they exist :o

Truth. Also, we should revel in the fact that, even though the more pretentious movie buffs don't care for these films, with this one, only 4% of them could truly say it was their own definition of "bad". It looks like the majority of them are having to say, "Dang it, it's a good movie, even though it's not my cup of tea", which is a high praise.

I consider Civil War, Infinity War and Endgame to be a trilogy. And what a glorious trilogy it is!
If they are a trilogy then it might explain why they are my 3 favourite MCU films!
