The Daily Planet Vol. 2: Superman News and Speculation Thread (🚨TAG SPOILERS🚨)

Just left the theater after watching Superman. Theater was packed with Superman fans. This was the feeling I wanted from BVS. Just good people loving the Man of Steel. People were so happy leaving the theater. Everyone was talking Superman. Not Batman or Justice League. It was all about Big Blue. It just dawned on me. It’s Tuesday night. No matter what happens at the box office this has been a great day for Superman. Superman shirts and capes everywhere.

I saw the movie and really enjoyed it.
What's perfectly portrayed, as in many Gunn films, is the characterization of the characters.
Especially Corenswet's Superman, Brosnahan's Lois, Gathegi's Mr. Terrific, Fillion's Green Lantern, and a special shout-out to Hoult, who gives us the best Lex ever seen in any medium. Simply perfect.

A truly excellent start for the DCU, and I'm sure this film will be a hit with audiences.

While I was expecting the Supergirl cameo, the two TSS characters (one major, the other secondary), though brief, caught me off guard. In a pleasant way.

Yeah this movie was kind of great. Its got some rough edges to it. So much was happening so fast at times i felt like i needed a breather to process the concepts the movie was throwing at you BUT make no mistake Corenswet IS SUPERMAN. The movie was a ton of fun and it got the character and Superman’s world very right.

James Gunn did it.

This movie is a great building block for the future, I liked it a lot, can’t say completely loved…. But it’s unapologetically a comic book movie without someone in the corner to be like “hey maybe scale it back a bit”

And for that I really really respect Gunn going for it. There were things that worked and things that perhaps fell a tiny bit short, but they nailed everything that was most important, the characters and their dynamics with each other.

This is a 7.5 out of 10 for me, which is honestly a huge win and a good stepping stone for what’s to come

Speaking of IMAX, screens have become smaller, so that is something to make note of. I fundamentally hate that they’ve made the screens smaller, meaning it’s not the real IMAX.

And speaking of IMAX, yesterday, but I was too late, I purchased my effing ticket at the largest IMAX cinema in Tokyo. Tickets went on sale midnight. I was 20 minutes late. I got probably one of the worst seats. I had to think, postpone, or watch it on Screen X or 4D Max first?? (Reviews said it was beautiful in IMAX and it was shot in IMAX so…)

So my seat is k34 and that only took 20 minutes:

Sincerely I hate them all. They took my seats! GD dammit. It had to be IMAX first for me. If I wait until midnight tonight, I might get a better seat for Saturday.

Also, never in a million years could Robert Pattinson ever be the Batman of this universe

I was of the belief that stranger things have happened and it could, but then I saw this movie and uhhh, yea no lol.

Fantastical DCU Batman is gonna kick so much ass though, I can’t wait for him, his Batfamily and Superman to cross paths in a few years

I agree though I give it an 8.5. The first 45 minutes are about a 7 but man when it kicks in it kicks IN!

Krypto steals the film, Lex is crazy and smart and evil, Mr. Terrific is a bad[bleep], Guy is perfection and Superman is the Big Blue Friggin Boy Scout!! Plus epic cameos!

Oh and I get why Faux hates it!

Full house, lots of laughs, lots of cheers and clapping at the end!

I alnost cried twice...

For me...he did it!

Also in a movie full of many worthy MVP candidates, Nic Hoult finally gets his moment to shine

That’s Lex freaking Luthor…. There’s a seem close to the end with him and Superman… It was like watching a comic panel come to life.
He is so good...very much like Lex Luthor Man of Steel. I mean he friggin crushed!

But will the fandom ship them? I mean will they conceive Conner? :o

Nic Hoult is so good in this that you could plug his Lex into any modern interpretation of live action Superman and it would work

can’t wait to see him again…. Hopefully in the Lexosuit too
