The Daily Planet Vol. 2: Superman News and Speculation Thread (🚨TAG SPOILERS🚨)

Just left the theatre an hour ago.

Really enjoyed it. It's a very messy movie-- it's overstuffed, several characters are likeable as they are but underutilised or underdeveloped, you can feel when things have been cut or moved around etc... but overall, this is the Superman movie audiences have needed since for-goddamn-ever. The whole cast is beautiful to watch, the humour lands, action aplenty, great overall tone and message etc. A movie that actually loves Superman and Lois, and Lex as characters more than just figures.

I just wanted the whole thing to calm down a little, and let itself really breathe and just luxuriate in the cast, characters and concepts we were often just getting bite-sized chunks of.

Standout scene? As of now, may well be the interview.

FYI, the theatre I was in loved it, thank goodness.

I do not pay attention to RT scores; in fact, I can probably count on one hand how many times I've been to the site. Heck, I rarely read full reviews anymore. lol

Love your take. This is what people need to remember, a movie can have flaws and still be a hell of a good time. Honestly, that's all most people really want when they go to the movies.

Tim Burton's Batman and Transformers are perfect examples of beloved IP's that had many flaws, but people flat out had a great time with when they went to see it.

Hopefully most hardcore fans following this movie remember that and realize this movie does not need to be 10 out of 10 film.

I am so done with these Trump/Epstein supporters. Nothing but a bunch of parrots that just repeat the same buzzwords over and over again.

Saw it yesterday and loved it. I'm loving it more, the longer I'm away from it. I can't wait to see it again.
I'm the same way...and my gf is still talking about it which is weird.

I honestly think if this film had come out in a different timeline it would not resonate as much. But it is so relevant to the times right now and a lot of us are so in need to feel inspired and good that it it is hitting on a level above what it really is.

Because I was going to love it, this is a film for Superman lovers first and foremost. (Of any generation or style...whether you like Birthright, Silver Age, Golden Age, Post Crisis...etc) But for it to hit my gf (who doesn't really care for Superman) the way it did...something else is happening here and I love it :)

Oh boy, am I ever excited!
I thought I wouldn't get to see it until Monday but I happened to check my local theater and it starts playing today @ 2 p.m, so my wife and snagged two tickets for today.
That is awesome!! I hope you love it! If anything you will definetly love Lex!

I'm a teacher at a K-12 school and a regular thorn in my side is overachieving parents who'll fight you tooth and nail for every decimal in their kid's grade, They don't want a 9.2, they want a 9.9 goddamnit, and if the grade slips to below 9, boy is the outrage biblical. This emotional attachment to a score, I understand it, but it does provide unpleasant flashbacks, lol. Just learn to cope with the fact your kid ain't perfect but he's still pretty smart, trying hard and has a winning personality.
As a fellow teacher...I feel seen now :)

This is what I was trying to say the other day. Its not perfect, but it is as good or better than most. And we forget even the classics often are called "messy" in some capacity.

Just got back from watching it, and honestly… I’m still processing.
I liked it , I definitely had fun, but I didn’t walk out in love with it.

It’s a movie full of energy and heart, and there’s no doubt that it cares about Superman and what he represents. But I came out feeling a bit overwhelmed, like it never really let itself slow down or settle into its best parts.

I kept wishing for more quiet moments, scenes where we could just breathe with the characters, especially the supporting cast. There’s such a rich world around Clark, and I really wanted to spend more time with that: the Daily Planet, the team, the city, the people who shape him just as much as his powers do.

There’s a lot to appreciate here , strong performances, a clear love for the mythology, and some really beautiful moments. But for me, it needed a bit more space to let those moments shine.

That said, I’m watching it again tomorrow, and I’m genuinely excited to give it another go. Hoping everything clicks better the second time around.

Wow. I thought I was a mess, but my friend's acquaintance makes me look as calm as @flickchick85 in comparison.

I just heard that my friend's acquaintance canceled her tickets for her Superman screening due to the current RT score. Her so called logic was that she didn't need to see a Superman movie that scored lower than Peacemaker and The Suicide Squad.
