The Daily Planet Vol. 2: Superman News and Speculation Thread (🚨TAG SPOILERS🚨)

Liked the trailer....but after this movie, I hope to never hear that John Williams theme again in a Superman movie. The theme is great, it's iconic- you'll never hear me say it's bad. Absolutely not. And I'm sure that Corenswet will get his own theme to match his Superman, just as Christopher Reeve, Henry Cavill, and Tyler Hoechlin (now my favorite live-action Superman) have. And I get paying respect to what came before. Still-

Going by Zaslav's recent comments about Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and Supergirl being the "four pillars" of the DCU, I wonder if Gunn's next project will actually be World's Finest or The Trinity.

I'll say this much. I kinda want Gunn to repurpose The Brave and the Bold into a proper Bat Family movie and take the reins. Call it The Caped Crusaders and have it be an ensemble piece with Bruce, Dick, Barb and Tim. Capture the swashbuckling, pulp-adventure vibes of the animated series. Sounds like a bonafide winner to me. I'd drop Damian for now, but I know Gunn's a huge fan of the character.
I could not agree more.

And man. This trailer rocks! I’ve seen some people putting it down online, mostly from one of three crowds: either people who won’t move on from Cavill; snobs who look down their noses at superhero films; or people who are just overall miserable and want to remain miserable.

And this trailer makes me feel sorry for all of them.

Well the new trailer was really good. I just hope the movie is as good. There's a rumor I've seen circulating about a specific part of the plot. It's definitely keeping me from going all in on the hype. I hope it's false.
Online plot summaries are the equivalent of hearing a joke from someone who doesn't know how to tell jokes.

After the nth rewatch, I can say that this trailer beautifully encapsulates what SUPERMAN is to me.

And I love that James Gunn didn't go the easy way to just make and present this as a jolly time with a jolly character. There are stakes, pathos, humor, heart, conflict, badass moments... it's the whole package.

I'm becoming increasingly convinced that it'll be Worlds Finest going off Gunn's own comments as well as Safran's. While also dreading the deja vu that comes with that.

It was great to see Superman becoming frustrated when his selflessness is questioned and maybe even unappreciated, but he never lets that stop him.

To me, that's always been the irony of Superman: For an alien, he represents the best of humanity.

That trailer MORE than did it's job, and I can't wait for July 11th.

Trailer is everything you want in a Superman trailer, the Lois and Clark chemistry is off the charts, the visuals are good and polished, the Daily Planet scenes look like a lot of fun, Hoult is gonna make a very good Lex, you can feel the hate for Superman oozing from him….. but the part that really got me was seeing little Clark with younger Pa and the cut to them sitting next to each other

I knew this movie was gonna emotionally punch me right in the gut, been a while since the waterworks have come out…. but this one might do it

Spectacular trailer.

The trailer captures just the right tone for Superman that I hope is continued in the film.
David and Rachel look to be a fantastic Lois and Clark duo.
I'm digging the look of Metropolis. Getting the globe back on top of the Planet building, plus the unique structure of LexCorp, helps the city from looking too generic.
The action looks fun and exciting, with interesting camera work. Man of Steel has some of my favorite cbm action sequences, but if there were one thing I could've added, it would be seeing Superman trying to stop or minimize civilian casualties and destruction amid battle. Gunn seems to be doing that here.

Honestly, I've seen enough. I don't need another trailer; bring on July.

I think I really needed to see a trailer focused on Kent/Superman and hear him talk because this one really nailed the tone for me.
I still hate The Flash cinematography.
This was important for me. Not that I want to bring another tired and exhausting Snyder vs Gunn comparison, but I'm always baffled by how few lines are given to Clark/ Superman in the DCEU. This film seems like he'll have more to say than the last 3 films combined.

I'm very into the stuff I'm seeing, but from an outside perspective, there's a sense that it's things movies have shown before, with more heroes thrown in. Superman crossing borders unauthorized, protests, Lex invading the Fortress, Mom or Dad giving him the pep talk. There's a familiarity that I think people would have the right to criticize is they were so inclined.

Something that does hit the spot for me is Clark being so defensive and naive in Lois's interview. Even if his answer is bad, I like that they're issues being brought up and that he has to question himself. It's a contrast with the BVS vibe of "People asking questions are just being mean to poor Superman" in favor of "Maybe she has a point and I can be smarter about how I protect the world." It's themes from 'What's so funny' and 'Peace on earth', but less on the defensive and seemingly more into asking interesting questions than BVS.

Crap, I'm watching our national hockey team probably beating Latvia (Hockey World Champions Ship) when typing this, slightly hard to focus lol.

Anyhows, excellent trailer. Love the interview with Lois at the beginning, and all the fun action-scenes. I actually have to realise in my old age that I'm looking forward to this way more close to the snotty kid me in late 70s when S:TM was a hype, than the later offerings with Routh and Cavill. In quite different ways of course, but still.

Regardless how this one of gazillions cbm flicks during last decades turns out, I'm at least pretty sure I won't be disappointed by Corenswet's performance as our new Superman. He just feels damn perfect this far.

There seem to be lots of stuff going on, with lots of characters. And that would maaaybe be my only slight worry: I hope this won't be overstuffed with characters and side plots that might hurt the over all experience. But yeah, that's just judging by trailers and bts pics. And I for one really should know better by now than worrying about stuff like that before watching the final product.

These days I never get really "hyped" for movies, regardless genres. Guess I'm to old lol. I just usually hope we get a great or at least decent and entertaining film. But I'm still hopeful as hell for this being the best Superman film since the 70s. Hopefully I'm right.

The most important scenes in this trailer? There can only be two:

- Girl, don't ever challenge Krypto! The mother****ing Super Dog!

City's on flames? Whatever..

And yeah, of course we beat Latvia with 6-0..
