The Daily Planet Vol. 2: Superman News and Speculation Thread (🚨TAG SPOILERS🚨)

Seeing both Kents alive and well is perfectly timed as I’m about to start my Lois & Clark rewatch. I will always prefer both Kents living since that was the status quo I grew up with and in that show in particular, they brought SO MUCH humanity and humor to the table. Glad to finally see that in a cinematic version. I adore those Kents.

First season was actually fun, the cast was perfectly cast and Clark's portrayal in the pilot episode was spot on, too bad Dean Cain was awful as Superman, he didn't have the acting chops or the charisma not to mention that coming directly after Chris Reeve didn't exactly help his case.
Speaking of Lois I just read fallout and you should check it out Chick, it's fun and has a neat twist on the Lois/Clark dynamic.

I had no idea that Metamorpho could assume the chemical properties of elements found outside the periodic table. That's pretty wild.

It happened in JL TAS so it's nothing new. I was still hoping that we could skip the damn kryptonite for a change but oh well....

Overall a nice trailer, Clark and Lois sound perfect as does their dynamic and from the looks of it they've finally gotten Lex right on the big screen. Also they toned down the Krypto retoric a bit, which is a good thing since he's gotten plenty of marketing already and now they seem to focus on the more serious aspects of the film (war and Superman's role in it). This movie seems fun and bombastic but also has serious undertones and I just hope James Gunn manages to balance the two, wish him all the luck in the world.

Very good trailer. Great chemistry between Lois and Clark and I'm glad they showcased that. Now the movie just needs to come out.

I do hope if it's successful that they focus on doing a superman sequel and don't try to do a world's finest movie. Superman has enough stories to actually create a good trilogy.

Don’t give your money to Jurassic Turd #58. Please.

Superhero fatigue may have finally kicked in but for ****’s sake, dinosaur fatigue is long overdue.
Eh I’ll probably see JW and FF along with Superman.

Although so far, this movie has the best trailer of the 3 and I don’t think it’s particularly close.

We need to make this movie successful, guys. I need to see Corenswet fight Brainiac in a sequel in 2027. So lets get this to $600m.

why not give our money to, BOTH?
Because maybe they don't want to? I sure as heck ain't.

The Jurassic Trailer looked awful too me. I how those that see it like it but nothing I saw made me want to see it.

The original looks better 30 years later than any of the sequels do with current tech.

Please Dear God, Gunn. Don't release another 3-minute trailer. At the moment, while we know some new details about the film, the rest of the plot points remain a mystery. We don't know how everything will happen. I want to keep it that way.

The Jurassic World movies are like the Terminator franchise. They keep trying to simultaneously shake up the formula while rehashing what worked in the original. And they fail every time. Yet unlike the last few Terminator movies, people keep going to see JW films because OOOOH LOOGIT DINOSAURS.

I enjoy watching certain reaction channels. This one I think perfectly encapsulates reactions of those who were trepidatious about Superman.

One reactor (I won't say who) actually created a reaction video to the MOS trailer in response to today's trailer. Needless to say, he didn't like anything about the new Superman film.

I've never had nice things to say about John Murphy's musical scores thus far but jeezus this score is chill inducing.

I mean, he's on a major handicap here since he has one of the most iconic movie themes of all-time written by the greatest composer in the history of cinema to do the heavy lifting. :hehe:

Oh and that’s entirely fair. I thought the trailer was mid but my wife loves the movies so I’ll be seeing it no matter what I think

For those that have eagle eyes, is that Will Reeve on the building's monitor?

Doesn't look exactly like him to me (the jawline in particular), but we know he's in it and it could just be a weird screencap. So maybe lol.

But who am i kidding, y'all are gonna give your money to Scarjo fighting dinosaurs instead. :o

I kid, friends, I kid.
If Gunn doesn't give us Brainiac in the distant future then I'm renouncing my fandom.

Finally I have a chance to sit down at a computer and just process this trailer.

My god, that was amazing. That was it. That's all I need. I will be there and see this movie! Just sitting there and watching the trailer thinking "yes, this is Superman." The guy who throws himself into situations because he has the ability to save those that need saving.

This just felt like they utterly get what this movie needs to be. The trailer was ideal. There's enough there to have an idea what's going on, but I honestly don't know exactly how this is going to play out or what the finale will look like. Enough to know that I want to see this thing and that's good enough for me!

Some fansites are saying that the scene in the new trailer where Superman is struck by a can differs slightly from the teaser in that it doesn't show him blinking as the can hits his head.

You don't need to go by fansites; you can see the difference at 1:39 in the teaser vs. :29 in the new trailer.

Yeah, but I didn't really notice it until I read it on one of those sites. So, I was just pointing that out.

Since Reeve finished his tenor as Superman, I've seen many Superman actors come and go from John Haymes Newton, to Gerard Chrietopher, to Dean Cain, Tom Welling, Brandon Routh, Henry Cavill and Tyler Hoechlin. Those actors did a fine job with what they presented, however I never watched any of those and so completely felt like.any of them were Superman, just guys in costumes. This is the first Time I feel like I'm seeing Superman again, not an actor, just Superman. I've been without MY Superman for 38 years and this year I'm finally getting him back. Thankyou James Gunn and David Corenswet for bringing me back to an innocence and wonder I thought I'd never get back.
