The Daily Planet Vol. 2: Superman News and Speculation Thread (🚨TAG SPOILERS🚨)

It’s definitely trimmed, but I do think they might cut back and forth to him sitting/standing in different positions throughout for comedic purposes as well. There WAS that description at CinemaCon where they showed a good bit of it and one person said that at some point while Lois restarts her voice recorder, he eats a whole stack of pancakes. So it would seem they play with that aspect a bit.
They better not edit that part out of the scene! :argh:

I keep seeing people saying he's speaking to the Kaiju in the ''Hey Buddy'' bit.

But no, he talks to the Hammer guy, you can see he is attacking Lordtech in previous clips and when Supes fly away you can see the Lordtech logo on top of the building.

And I'm pretty sure the Kaiju doesn't speak and it works better if he's engaging with a presumably human vilain (Which some thinks it's Ultraman hiding in a different suit sent by Lex).

Sorry, I just read that a lot and wanted to get it cleared out.

Oh and, pretty sure the Kaiju is attacking because Lex is manipulating it with it's baby (as seen in the leak toys).

So Superman may very well find a peaceful way to end the fight, which may frustrates some heroes and people.

All in all, that took off in the air in one shot was amazing.

I actually really like the idea of him calling a kaiju “buddy” because it reminds me of my favorite story from Greg Pak’s Action Comics run, “What Lies Beneath,” where Supes takes in a kaiju that the government was treating like a monster but was really just a scared kid from a subterranean species. And he talks to him like a person there, or at least like a pet that might understand him.

That said, I agree he’s almost certainly talking to the “Hammer of Boravia” in that scene, given the context and other shots we’ve seen.

I actually think he's talking to the kaiju. Especially since it looks like its right after he breathes fire on him in front of the Lordtech building.

An all new Hallmark Original Movie...

"When a fierce and obsessive reporter in a big Metropolitan city hits a concerning writers blocks due to extreme boredom in her profession that could jeopardize her position, in comes a mild mannered rook from the small happenings of an even smaller whereabout to sweep her off her feet. As an acclaimed farmhoy from his tight knit hometown, this greenhorn reporter is taken under the wing of the newspapers company most Pulitzer prized baddie, rekindling her love to teach the business. But when tragedy strikes his hometown, he disappears without warning. When she puts her skills to good use, she finds out this man might not be who he seems. Is there more to the story? Or should she rekindle and get to the bottom of what is really going on with this super mysterious man that once made her fleeting heart flutter"?

He's definitely talking to the Kaiju. Calling him "buddy" and then seemingly playing with him with distraction makes me think he isn't set on really hurting him, or at least Supes is entertaining the thought mid-situation to help the Kaiju calm down before resorting to other tactics, like full force.

"Hey buddy..eyes up here". Gunn might as well inserted a comic book thought bubble above David's head because this is exactly what comic book Superman would say in this action packed moment.

You know what, after watching it again, I'm not sure anymore haha.

So yeah, you may be right!

And either way, It's just awesome to see how superman interacts, it has personality and even in his
acting you can see in that tiny segment he's been through a lot just before that but keeps trying to control the situation.

Cause I'm pretty sure the monster isn't bad, Starro wasn't really, and the big cow in Peacemaker too.

*And his suit fits more the Kaiju one also!

Assuming that the shot of Superman falling onto the street is from his fight with the HOB, then the "Hey Buddy" dialogue is definitely from another scene. The biggest indicator is his costume.

The "Hey Buddy" shot features the costume that has more of a small turtle-neck collar, while the other one doesn't.

Given how much hate a lot of the Snyderbots have for this film, are you guys concerned that they'll review-bomb this film upon its release?

I’m not “concerned” they will, I know they will. But that’s fine, as long as critics and actual audiences like it, that won’t make a difference.

I have to imagine that this has come up at some point in the DC offices. Either way, if it’s as good as the latest trailer, I’m not concerned.

Those idiots need to realize that spending all day, every day being on a mission to cry and moan about a property only brings more awareness to the IP/product. It tells people this film is important,.which is inadvertently doing the work of the studio. I'm sure WBD doesn't appreciate the ones who only exist to crap on it, that they can't change..but the general audience sure can and they will drown them out if this is good. The studio's main focus is to find their new audience anyhow. The public will ultimately decide.

Everything in the trailer looks pretty good but I really don't like Superman screaming at Lois. Kinda wishing that wasn't a thing.
Superman being genuinely outraged at the idea of being questioned about trying to save lives is the most Superman **** in the world. His whole thing is that he doesn't see the world differently from country to country, we're all the same people to him. So imagine how genuinely insulted you'd be at somebody trying to say you were wrong to save lives that were X miles away from where you live just because of some arbitrary geographical line.

Anyway yeah, the weird server issues delayed my two cents on the trailer. Tbf it's quite simple

God I can't ****ing wait for this movie

There are reaction videos to the trailer of people blindly hating on David. It's sad that these people won't let go.
These people are mentally disturbed. I don't think much of the regular audience gives their online insanity much thought.

Wouldn't surprise me if aggregators need to shut down user reviews and votes for this one tho.

Thankfully I haven't reached those ones as of yet. I binged watched atleast 50-60 reaction videos the last couple nights and it's about 10-1 positive to negative. The majority that I have seen basically lose it once the John Murphy theme kicks in. It's refreshing to see people excited. That's the train I choose to ride.

On top of everything else, I'm thrilled they seem to actually be using David for the flying shots, rather than a CG replacement. There's a few that really stand out (one of him flying toward the Kaiju, the one of him falling) that look beautiful and would have almost certainly been CG doubles in past versions.

Gunn has always been good with integrating live action footage and CGI. Off the top of my head I can't think of a "human CGI dummy" that has taken me out of the scene in one of his movies.

I enjoy little nuances in performances that may be looked over by the GA eye. When the civilian helps Superman up from the debris, I love the look David gives him right before accepting his outreached hand. That little piece of acting tells a lot. Almost like he's surprised to see such support, and for the first time in awhile, the tides are changing to his favor. Loved that.
