The Daily Planet Vol. 2: Superman News and Speculation Thread (🚨TAG SPOILERS🚨)

Anyone know if the amazon prime screening thing is US only?

It probably is.

I don’t know why WBD isn’t doing a paid sneak peek for Superman. It definitely helped Shazam out when they did it in 2019. (And it was worth paying full price to see it a week early.)

They might...they might not announce that stuff for a bit.

Thankfully I haven't reached those ones as of yet. I binged watched atleast 50-60 reaction videos the last couple nights and it's about 10-1 positive to negative. The majority that I have seen basically lose it once the John Murphy theme kicks in. It's refreshing to see people excited. That's the train I choose to ride.

There's one reaction video where the reactor essentially hate-watches the trailer, despite using a thumbnail that makes it look like he liked it. What's even sadder is that the same reactor decided to do a reaction video to MOS's trailer shortly afterward just to make a point.

That's what you get for raising taxes on our tea!

Now look where we are!

Given how much hate a lot of the Snyderbots have for this film, are you guys concerned that they'll review-bomb this film upon its release?

Oh let them! those loony toons tried the same thing with the first Godzilla vs Kong film and the movie went on to make half a billion dollars and became the very first hit movie post pandemic. The Snyder cult is nothing but a fart in the wind (excuse the expression but it's apt and accurate) they make offensive noises and sounds where they (initially) attract a lot of attention only to fade into nothingness; the only way to deal with the cult is to do what the dessert people do and turn away from hot wind.

Havent been on the forums in a while, but I'm popping in to say that trailer was incredible. I truly believe this is gonna be something great, and everything I'm seeing, from the casting, to the music, and tone continues to reinforce that. Coranswet is gonna define the role of Superman for this generation, just as Bale did for me as Batman back in the day. I don't even have any nitpicks, honestly. It's a fantastic trailer.

Contrary to what some on X are saying, this looks unique and different. That's exactly what we need.

THIS shot right here. This is the shot that got me. Yes, I choked up. It's been so long since we have seen this in a CBM, and one scene in particular comes to mind. Just when I thought these films couldn't make me feel something like this anymore, James Gunn does this. I'm all in. GrGmPgWWkAAhEzo.jpg

you must be talking about tyrone magnus.
i didn't even bother clicking on his videos when they show up on my youtube search results.

thought the dood was cool back then, but he's been on that grifter train for the last few years now.

if this movie turns out to be great, they won't be able to do jack about it though.

majority of youtube reactions have been overwhelmingly positive though, from what i've seen.
people are hyped about a superman that rings truer to the comics.

What do all of these grifters have to say about Thunderbolts...or New Avengers...or whatever the film is called now? all the positive press didn't do much for the box office.

Meanwhile Sinners keeps chugging along ;)

What should they say and why should they be aholes about it. Thunderbolts was really good .

I'm sure it was (not my cup of tea but glad you enjoyed it!) but the point is none of the grifters matter. All those reactions, all the spitting on one movie while praising the others...95% of people don't care and have never heard any of any of them. They are worthless either audiences will see the trailers and want to go or they won't. Some incel in his gaming chair ain't changing that. ;)

Hell for all of the hand wringing about Supermans marketing we have seen around here...Thunderbolts got the $100 million blitz and it didn't really help all that much.

Honestly I think the nerd press in general has lost almost all of its sway...and i would even argue with how little people trust the press even the trades and well known reviewers don't move the needle much anymore. I think people are tuning out of that stuff now. (If they are under 50)

(Yeah I took an unwarranted cheap shot at TB which I don't normally do in reality i think Di$ney did it a disservice but it's obvious Fantastic Four is where they really want to focus)

Metamorpho's child? Worried about this baby stuff and insertion of super pets being cheesy, but we'll see. Sensing that this film will be a tad more silly than the Donner films, even the Lester films. I mean Green Lantern's squirrel will appear in the movie too? Of course I'm all for Krypto, but remember, he was featured in the Titans series, and it worked. Hoping the film isn't too silly, but by contrast, it does look more silly than Donner's Superman.

Superman: The Movie looks way more serious than Gunn's movie by comparison. People have said how the Christopher Reeve Superman movies were campy which I think is a farce. Can't really understand Superman III. Superman IV was bad but at least it tried to be serious. When I say serious, I don't mean that either of the films took itself too seriously. (That was a key difference between Richard Donner and Zack Snyder) Okay, I'll make an exception though, because the Superman III opening credits was terrible.

I think had Donner remained on board for the rest of the Christopher Reeve Superman films, the series would have been better and significantly less silly. Notice in the Donner cut of Superman II, Donner cut out all the goofy bits in between (originally shot by Richard Lester) where the three villains were blowing everyone in the wind on the streets of Metropolis (or um..."New York City").

this is probably going to have the same level of goofiness as the guardians of the galaxy movies, and it should not be a surprise.

and that's not inherently a bad thing.
it's how its executed.

I think it will pretty much be a comic book come to life. No more, no less.
It's not gonna take itself too serious or be too campy either. Superman 3 was camp.

yes, it will have some humor, but, it will also have those classic Superman moments, the kind that make you want to stand and cheer.
I fully expect we will have our endgame portal scene in this. By that, I mean the emotions it stirred.

Remember Superman’s marketing team is probably targeting families with two or more children between the ages of five through 12. If it going to hit big at the box office that is who it has to get excited. Us old farts are not who the marketing is trying to impress. That is what is so comical about the Snyder bros. They are such a small percentage of the fan base that they are meaningless.

Some are even faking like they like the last trailer to get clicks. Randolph, who is faking like she likes the trailer, basically said that hating on movies like Gunn’s Superman will get tons of views on YouTube and clicks on social media. Parents and families are attracted to the movie because of the wholesomeness of Superman, the action, and Krypto.

Yeah they need to double down the marketing to that demographics, Jurassic World's target audience relies heavily on that age group.
