The Daily Planet Vol. 2: Superman News and Speculation Thread (🚨TAG SPOILERS🚨)

Immediately picked up on that. I’m guessing it’s sort of meant to symbolize that Superman is the foundation which the rest of the DCU will be built upon, or like sort of an invitation saying to us, “Hey, the door’s open! Come on in and explore this new universe with us. This is just the start and there’s more yet to come.”
That's exactly the way I took it. 😭

I'm happy everyone seems to be extremely positive over the footage. Gunn deserves the benefit of the doubt. This truly feels like the Superman movie fandom has been wanting and asking for decades. It feels like a Superman comic book come to life.
It is, quite frankly, the kind of Superman I would tell friends about that they've been missing out by not reading the comics (whenever they would have reservations about the character or simply misconceptions about him).

FUTURE ME (2025): We'll finally get the Superman movie that most fans have been asking for in 2025.

PAST ME (2018): Awesome! I'm sure all things will be right with the world when that day comes.

Extremely shocked that the writer behind the glowing post-election “How America rejected Hollywood and embraced Joe Rogan” piece is lending embittered Snyder Bros a greater platform by pretending they make up an equal share of the audience as those who like what they see.

It's not just Snyder fans/bros. A lot of comic book Superman fans and pages (even Reeve fans) that I have seen and are apart of with thousands of members and hundreds of comments about 'Superman' are split as well. This is not going to change and the discourse is here to stay.

These same trades called Snyder fans "bots" and have attacked that fanbase on more than one occasion, ad-nauseum. Nobody is holier than thou in this fanbase medium. Snyder fans took their fair share of slugs to the face and are they way they are for a reason (and everyone knows it).

What needs to happen is the general audience needs to latch onto this film, families need to get in the theater, and those same families need to recommend a good word of mouth to other families to create a new audience for the reboot. A good movie will drown out the BS, but it's never going to go away. Not in this modern age.

Log off, sit down in that theater seat, make up your own mind, and sharpen your swords. Only way to survive the internet. 🔥 OR, just don't GAF what everyone else thinks.

For the love of God.

We live in a post-empathy world. Everything must be tough, stoic, emotionless, gritty, etc.

Why are we platforming SnyderBros and those who cannot move on? 'Divides the Internet'? C'mon. Reactions to this have been way in the positive.

Why is it that any negative voices get inflated to either equal or seem larger than the positive?
Because bs gets clicks.

THR vilifying Rachel Zegler for everything wrong with Snow White because she said genocide bad as well. 🤷‍♀️

Somebody recently said to me: "Dude, do you really think this country cares about Superman when they voted for Lex Luthor as President"? (I wear a Superman shirt basically every day).

I about fell to my knees in absolute disgust and fear. Telling statement.

We both know this to be true. Good Superman Tis’ only a fantasy on the screen.

There is also some internal politics going on inside the WB film division. It is easy to see anti-Safron pieces are being pushed by those who want the chair instead of Safon.

Well that **** already irritates me bc I’m pretty sure Gunn has already said that he wouldn’t have taken the job if he had to do it all by himself, so I really don’t know why they’re so keen to rock the boat in that regard.

I assume it isn't for that seat, but the overall film division one considering Zaslav is pining a lot of recent failures of on the current heads.

That’s what I mean, though. You’re gonna try to “fix” one problem (that would, frankly, be better handled by telling Zaslav to **** off out of the entertainment business entirely) by potentially causing another?

As someone who watched S:TM at the cinema with my dad as a kid, I totally loved this sneak peak. I was almost going to bring my dad with me on watching MOS at the cinema as a nostalgia thing, but the trailers, articles etc then made me hesitate. And when the film came out, of course he would've been very confused watching Snyder's Superman. As I suspected.

So far this feels more like a Superman flick my dad (and me!) would enjoy at the cinema, but as an 86 year old now with heart issues and getting more "whimsy" for like every month now, sadly that won't happen.

Anyhows, personally I'm highly looking forward to this due to what I've read and seen.

Everything's already been said about this sneak peak, but one little thing I could add: I totally loved that the robots in the fortress were having capes! Completely unnessessary but so full on and wonderfully silver age.

Also, healing Superman with rays of our yellow sun is such a great classic Superman concept, and kinda reminds of maybe my favourite scene in Superman Returns: When he flies up close to the sun to heal and regain full power. Just wish they'd made that scene a little longer and more impactful.
