The Daily Planet Vol. 2: Superman News and Speculation Thread (🚨TAG SPOILERS🚨)

But, don’t you know, Elmo said that empathy is a weakness that must be purged, and bullying, lying, discriminating, stealing from and spewing hatred towards the undeserving and oppressed is what real God-fearing Americans do. :o

Elon: Superman has been infected by the Woke Mind Virus! Luckily, Lex Luthor is here to eradicate it!

Actually, scratch that. Lex Luthor is way too moral and heroic to ever win Elon’s support.

Moral & Heroic?
That’s not what the teasers & trailers indicate.

lol I’m saying that Lex, the archetype of all supervillains, is more moral than Elon and Trump.

Seriously. Lex divested himself of his business interests when he became president. And he’s only racist against Kryptonians.

I swear, there are a box of superlatives that people seem to have ready in the chamber for anything Superman, and 'corny' is one of them.

I don't really see anything 'corny' about this sneak peek. It's got humor and heart.

Feels like sincerity and earnestness is seen as 'corny' to a lot of people, these days.

Yeah, I totally agree with this. We just went through 17 years of the MCU and a few DCEU Hamada attempts on the big screen. We should know what corny is by now (and the Superman sneak peek is anything BUT).

In fact, I totally buy the "tonal" concerns or what is being said about that aspect. If anything, the sneak peek showed mixed tones. The Krypto scene didn't play as funny as the description suggested, and Gunn is trying to hit two or three marks at once. In that 5 minutes, there is a lot of emotion and feels being thrown at us.

Corny isn't one of them.

Nice, Metamorpho looks even more comic accurate than I expected. I see him, Terrific, Superman and Krypto in that box. Is the last one Ultraman? And is that little green figure the baby kaiju?

Under Lex Luthor, Twitter would thrive and flourish, his vehicles would be the best and most affordable on the market, he would create a smear campaign to completely defame and ruin Trump so he would fade into obscurity just so he wouldn’t be able do anything else to ruin the economy and mess up Lex’s enterprise, he would give money to and fund the s**t out of so many LGBTQIA+ organizations and programs to gain their support, homelessness wouldn’t even or hardly would be a thing, he’d actually support veterans, and January 6th would have immediately stopped before it even began with Lexcorp specialized armored soldiers and accompanying drones and the MAGA movement would immediately have been cut off at the knees.

Lex Luthor may be arrogant and self-interested, but he’s ultimately a pragmatist whose self-interests are usually aligned and in lock step with what benefits the city of Metropolis and its ipeople. He’s not going to be dumb or petty enough to deliberately go out of his way to piss off his greatest source of revenue.

And, yes, I just made a case for why Lex Luthor would make a better president than Trump, and I can’t believe we’re actually at the point where he would actually be a more reasonable choice. His methods would be very questionable, and I wouldn’t agree with all of his policies, but, when push comes to shove, he would at the very least get s**t done and make sure his administration runs like well-oiled machine, which is the bare minimum of what the POTUS is supposed to do.

When f**king Lex Luthor of all characters is looking like a better option than whoever is currently in office, you’ve really f**ked the pooch.

Don’t know if anyone’s mentioned it here, but when Supes and Krypto enter the Fortress, there’s a voice speaking (presumably) Kryptonian in the background that sounds an awful lot like
Bradley Cooper
They're going to have to explain why Superman doesn't have that nose. :o

At a glance I thought this was Superman Returns merchandising. Very similar vibe.

I guess my wallet is going to be a little lighter once this movie comes out.

I knew Superman would have Krypto as his pal. I'll get the McFarlane Supes, and the Giant Funko. That looks great. And the McFarlane statue.

Extremely shocked that the writer behind the glowing post-election “How America rejected Hollywood and embraced Joe Rogan” piece is lending embittered Snyder Bros a greater platform by pretending they make up an equal share of the audience as those who like what they see.

THR has become a glorified tabloid at this point. Not too long ago they put out that fluff piece for Jonathan Majors right before the audio with his ex leaked where he flat out admitted to abuse.

Maybe someone should put together a supercut of all 537 of the times Cavill screamed in Man of Steel.

For the love of God.

We live in a post-empathy world. Everything must be tough, stoic, emotionless, gritty, etc.

Why are we platforming SnyderBros and those who cannot move on? 'Divides the Internet'? C'mon. Reactions to this have been way in the positive.

Why is it that any negative voices get inflated to either equal or seem larger than the positive?

What’s hilarious is how, for years, I’ve heard detractors talk about how Superman is boring because he’s “too powerful” and “has no weaknesses.” While people who say that generally know little to nothing about the character, it’s still a hurdle that anyone making a Superman movie has to get over. Yet Gunn and Corenswet are tackling it head-on, and suddenly vulnerability is a bad thing? Give me a break.

I hate this timeline.
