The Daily Planet Vol. 2: Superman News and Speculation Thread (🚨TAG SPOILERS🚨)

There's a screening of the full Superman film happening right now for limited press and social media influencers.

Fandango is on that list along with some other recognizable folks. I wonder if they'll be allowed to share any impressions.

Either way, it shows a big amount of confidence in their film to show it ahead of the world premiere.

I love an opening narration or text; hoping that turns out to be true.

Loved it in Superman Returns:

They added that text because Singer cut the Return To Krypton sequence out of Superman Returns (which gave context for why Superman was gone for five years).

Embargo lifts on 07/07.

A new clip featuring Superman and Lex was released on Jimmy Kimmel. Unfortunately, it's only viewable right now on the former twitter site.

Well, this clip definitely threw out my theory regarding the film's events. I was under the impression that Superman's battle with the kaiju monster takes place near the beginning of the film with the fortress invasion taking placing later on. However, Superman is clearly wearing his battle-damaged kaiju costume (i.e., Round Collar, Thinner S-Line).

I believe all of this happens pretty early on, tbh. The only scenes we've seen with Krypto really are at the Fortress (which we know is basically the beginning of the movie along with the Kaiju battle), when he's back at home healing, and in the city battle with all the Lex soldiers which I presume is the climax. So I think Lex & Co. track injured Superman to the Fortress and break into it right after he leaves. They kidnap Krypto, and hold him hostage for the middle portion of the movie, until they eventually capture Supes too. Then Supes and Krypto are both rescued at the end of Act 2, go rest up at the Kent farm before entering the final battle.

I originally assumed that Superman starts off with the round collar costume before changing it after it got damaged from his fight with the Kaiju monster. If that's not the case, then Superman goes back and forth between the two costumes during the events of this film.

Well perhaps more importantly, Nick confirmed on Kimmel that David is indeed about an inch taller than him. :o

I'll have to make a note to not visit certain websites that also follows this film. A lot of the comments that I've come across are so toxic. It's one thing to not care for the movie, but another thing to say that it looks like a CW show/parody.

That's a certain Cult's go-to criticism. All the time. Which I've always found ironic considering the CW actually did Superman waaaaaay better than their messiah.

Lex Luthor should definitely have a big role in the overarching DCU. I'd love to see some "corporate rivalry" between him and Bruce Wayne (and Stagg, Lord, etc.).

Definitely would like to see Luthorcorp, Wayne Enterprises and the likes have a healthy space and importance in the universe.

I know this has been beaten to death and it's slightly off topic, but I've been watching reactions and tv spots etc for superman and of course being Superman related, I often get things like Man Of Steel reaction videos or BVS reactions pop up. I'm no fan of that film or universe at all, but I enjoy watching people react to Superman content regardless. So I tend to watch all of them and I just for the love of God can't figure out where all this borderline psychotic love for Cavill has come from. I remember the reaction to both Man Of Steel and BVS very very well because I remember being upset that people were so meh about Superman and his actor when both MOS and BVS came out. Especially BVS. I remember all the trailers were, oh my God Batman, Affleck looks great, wonder Woman and no one gave a s*** or had next to anything to say about Henry or the Superman character. Now here we are, in an era where now that Cavill is gone everyone is acting like he was the second coming of jesus. Where was all this when MOS needed big box office?. Where was the psychotic infatuation then. It's just become so annoying at this point. It's everywhere I go online, can't escape it no matter what Superman media I choose to look at. Makes me hate the actor when I know I shouldn't, cos I like Cavill. Seems a good dude.

Some of the thoughts coming out of the Superman Screening.

Robert Meyer Burnett
- A friend saw @JamesGunn's SUPERMAN today. He said it's 180 degrees away from @ZackSnyder's vision. He told me A LOT of things...probably too much. He said the trailers have been a bit of a misdirect. But the most important thing was...he really, really liked it.

Daniel Richtman
- I hear #Superman is good

The cult's all in on Alan Ritchson as Batman.
