Wanted to share this little anecdote here. A good buddy of mine who's a massive Supes fan, has recently been bonding with his 3 year old daughter over the character. On a whim he DM'd David Corenswet to share this, and how she's become obsessed with Superman and Krypto since the first trailer came out. David wrote back a very sweet and personal response. Like a couple of a paragraphs long, and said it meant the world to him to hear stuff like that.

That alone definitely makes me root for this film. My personal investment is pretty low. I'm not personally that excited about another DCU. I'm really not sure James Gunn's sensibility is going to be my cup of tea or not, to be totally honest. But it would be cool to see a bright and colorful Superman film succeed in 2025. We can't expect this movie to single-handedly cure cancer and repair our broken culture, but hopefully we can walk out feeling like it meant something and it wasn't just another superhero movie. Even if as adults we're too cynical at this point, if it can instill some hope and belief in kindness in kids, that's something at least.

Actually I didn't make her go to that. She did go to BvS to the early screening and she enjoyed it That is how she knew the local reviewer never saw the film!

Best part (I have told this story before a few times) but I warned her before BvS the critics destroyed it. She didn't care because she has no tie to any of this and I dont tell her about rumors and the like. Anyways we walk out after the film, she starts reading reviews and says "What the hell?!?!? Did Di$ney pay these people off or something?!?!" Now again, she didn't know about that (bs) conspiracy theory she just knew she dislikes most Marvel films and they get good reviews. I laughed so hard and then told her about how people around here believe that and she doubled down and still kind of believes it
