The Daily Planet Vol. 2: Superman News and Speculation Thread (🚨TAG SPOILERS🚨)

They don't have IMAX at my theater, but I am seeing it something called Cinemark XD.

That's how I saw Deadpool and Wolverine. The last film I saw in IMAX might have been The Dark Knight.

Like Grace, another person I expected to not like Superman, not because of his Gunn criticism, but because of the general tone of Superman he likes. Rocha loved it.

Even some of the most concerned people going into this film are loving it.

I think that one shocks me even more than Grace.

Trying not to get my hopes up about the reviews, though. I've been here before. :funny:

But more importantly, hyped for my own screening tomorrow. I've seen and read enough to know it's not a misfire and seems right up my alley, so feeling pretty great! :mrk: :supes:

Been seeing a lot of initial reactions say it is fun, but messy, so I am expecting positive but not glowing reviews.

Btw, I heard "Don't Stop Believin'" playing at the premiere, so I think you might be right about its use in the film. :hmm:
Yeah, when Gunn included it in Clark's playlist, I could immediately picture certain footage set to it. The rhythm, pacing of the shots line up particularly well, as do the lyrics and themes.

The Breakfast All Day critics Christy and Alonso loved it , and I've been following Christy's reviews since she was a fill in host with Roger Ebert and Richard Roeper in the early 00s.

So , she's a critic I've listened to for close to 20 years now.

I trust their reviews over these type of films much more than my fandom brethren, who tend to be either overly positive, or overly harsh.

Christy and Alonso are "Normie" critics with regards to fandom stuff, so if they loved it , that holds much more weight for me.

It doesn't mean I may end up feeling the same why they did , but if those two really like it at least makes me intrigued about the film .

The Normie critics reaction to the films are what I'm looking for, as opposed to critics who are already in the fandom space.

Totally worth it for films shot in IMAX imo. The aspect ratio on this one isn't quite IMAX but it'll look better on an IMAX screen than regular screens for sure, as it was shot with IMAX certified cameras. It's louder than you'll be used to...but that's why I love it so much. :funny:

I'm seeing it in IMAX and I have never been disappointed doing so.

Thanks again for the feedback. I just purchased my IMAX ticket for this Saturday (07/12).

Wow. Yeah, that's encouraging praise right there, and from Alonso of all people, who's often a tough one.

I think the anti Gunn crowd is/are fighting an uphill battle in trying to convince others ( and themselves ) that this will fail.
By all accounts ( so far ) we have a winner.
It's still soon, but it's looking good.
The cult is in shambles. It's UNHINGED out there, maybe even more so than when the BvS reviews were incoming.

Wow I must have finally successfully muted all the worst offenders because I have not witnessed any of this. Huzzah! 🙌
I'm seeing them (and the anti-woke crowd) under every single reaction  On Twitter (and Youtube) that is, which is I why don't frequent it. It sucks that it's still the key hub for entertainment social media.

You're not following the golden rule, I see: never read the comments / reply sections. That's where trash people lash out on whatever the topic is to somehow deal with their personal problems and shortcomings.

Reactions seem a lot more mixed from what I'm seeing.

I've been spoiled by Bluesky and its relatively normal comment sections

it’s nice to wake up and see the good verbal reception, but I won’t be fully relaxed until that’s stupid tomato website that everyone gives so much power to reflects the sentiment
