The Dark Knight THE DARK KNIGHT crowd reports!

Just thought I'd revive the thread a little, having seen the film again last night.

For a Tuesday night, I was in awe. I'd say, without exaggeration, 95-100% of the theater was sold out. The entire front section was full (I couldn't see the very first row though). Incredible!

Anyhow, some great reactions from the crowd, with some new ones I haven't heard before. The Prologue got some gasps during the clowns shooting each other (always great to hear Prologue reactions considering we've seen it for months) and a mega gasp for the grenade in Fichtner's mouth.

Joker's entrance to the mob meeting got some nervous laughter, and of course, the pencil trick garnered gasps, cheers, and several long, loud HOOOOOOLLLLY SH**'s! Funniest part of the mob scene was when some chick started laughing hysterically after Joker said "Yeah..." to Gambol. Honestly, I bet she was in tears.

Bruce's stitching got lots of winces as usually, and I was mildly surprised to hear some whooping when Alfred was on screen for the first time.

WSS? scene got some major gasps and should could tell people were really nervous. Lots of nervous laughter anytime Joker was on screen.

This one was interesting. When Joker went "You remind me of my father...." several people in the audience were all like "Oh no...oh crap...". Showed me they were actually paying attention. Same reaction to when Joker asked Rachel whether she knew how he got his scars. Same reaction again when Bruce stumbled upon the tied up cops during Loeb's funeral. People were really into the movie, and were frightened every time the Joker was up to some business.

Reaction to Gordon's death really took me by surprise. From the moment he was shot, until after the scene with his family ended, people were "Awwwwing" and silently whispering "Oh no...so sad...such a good guy..." crap like that. I really liked seeing the audience so into it.

Breaking of Maroni's legs also got a mega reaction. Huge gasps and lots of cringing.

Interrogation scene got lots of "Woahs!", especially when Bats appeared after the lights turned on.

Joker nurse got a big pop as usual. The hysterical girl was back, laughing away.

Movie got some good claps at the end.

Anyhow, I'm just so happy to see some fresh reactions and even more happy to see full houses, with this movie already being out 2 weeks. Amazing.

It seems my theatre was the only place to have this reaction to the batpod flip; the majority of them laughed at it, and I even heard a few wtf's. : |

I'm going to the IMAX again tonight and I really hope we get a lot of reactions. I first saw the film on that Saturday and it was incredible. The gasps I heard when the truck flipped over and the woah! after the batpod flip. The last two times I've been the reactions haven't been that great (though the third time I was at a drive in and I could hear audible 'holy craps!' at the pencil scene). So I'm hoping tonight will be another great one.

In Southend, Essex the reaction was as follows:

- 5 guys all dressed like The Joker
- Clapping when
Gordon arrrests The Joker
- Pattering of applause when Joker meets the mob
- Round of applause after the credits.
- Some applause at the Heath Ledger tribute at the end of the movie.

Did the entire audience in the movie theater cheer or gasp or go "OOOOOHHHHH!!!!" when Batman's batpod flipped the Slaughter Truck over?

I have seen the movie 4 times and each time the audience roared when Batman took out the truck.

It truly is one of the greatest moments of my life inside a movie theater. The energy inside the theater during the chase scene was off-the-scale.

Many laughed that.

Lot of people cheered when Gordon arrested Joker.

I think the chase sequence, from start to finish, is one of the most exciting movie chases ever. Seriously. I love it. fav part of the movie.

Everytime I saw it, there would be complete silence when the truck began to flip, (like an awe-struck silence) followed by several people shouting "holy ****" and variations to that effect. :cwink:

A few cheers for Gordon's re-appearance, though there were certainly some muted gasps at the truck flipping. I wish I hadn't seen it in the trailer, that would have been great first time in the cinema.

I don't even know why people cheered during the truck flip. It was in all the freakin trailers and commercials. :o

Yeah, in all my viewings the audience either gasped or laughed at the flipping truck. Which is surprising considering it's been shown ad nauseum during the promotional run. I didn't think it'd be all that exciting seeing it for the bazillionth time.

I heard that too. Heard a few "oh no" when Gordon was shot, and even heard a lot of "ouch" during the fight scenes. Of course there was a great amount of laughter and applause for the magic trick as well as the Jokers other "funny" moments.

The audience was great for me, throughout the entire movie. They were cheering, gasping, yelling and so forth, but it was all really fun.

People laughed at the truck but the only time people cheered was when Batman took out all the SWAT guys by kicking them off the edge of the building.

In mine:

Pencil Trick
The Bus
Batman breaking legs
The truck
The Batpod, shooting out, and the flip.
Gordon.
Batman pushing Two-Face
The hospital
Batman vs Swat
Why So Serious
I own the place
Skyhook

I've never been to a movie where the audience was so responsive. Not only is TDK my favorite movie, but my favorite movie experience.

Exactly. I've seen it 5 times, the first 3 times I saw it (during opening weekend) had louder responses, but each of these scenes got something of a reaction. I believe the Kicking and Screening crowd was the best movie crowd I've experienced, possibly due to the fact that the movie being watched was amazing too.

The more I think about it though, the more I like that chase scene, had so many cool moments (see: above).

The second time I went to see the movie, the audience weren't supportive - neither was the cinema (providing bad sound system) but during my first encounter - all I could remember was the bomb on fletcher's mouth, pencil trick, joker growls 'look at me', truck flips upside down, harvey dent's two face, and bat pod - where the audience oohed and aahed and possibly screamed

Same here. I never had so much fun during a movie.

I thought my experience may have been unique; it was opening day in IMAX. Yeah, the place went wild for the truck flip.

I think it was that, even though we've seen it in the trailers, the way Batman did it was just awesome. The way the thug goes "He missed!" and then ...bam... it was like the spiritual counterpart to the scene in BR where he tugs at the grappling gun to nail the guy with the piece of concrete. Only x100.

This was followed up immediately by an almost equally awesome reaction to the Batpod correcting itself against the wall.

It was just such a high energy sequence that I think it really captured everyone's imagination and made them feel good, in the middle of an otherwise pretty bleak film.

It looked really awesome on imax. on the regular theater its just ok and noone really cheered
