The Dark Knight The Dark Knight FAQ (Check here first)

So, is Black Mask completely out of the running? As far as mob-bosses go, I'd rather see this character over Penguin. I really enjoyed Tim's vision of Penguin and Catwoman, whereas I have come to find his Joker too...campy, I guess is a good word. He was too likeable, not sinister enough. If anything, I believe Penguin and Catwoman are just fine, and aren't in need of a revamp.

Now, Talia would be an interesting love interest here, no?

Nothing has suggested Black Mask won't be in it, so that's still a possibility.

Yeah I pulling for a Black Mask....Talia would be awesome but dont know how the L.O.S. would fit in TDK. Even if she's not in L.O.S. I still find it difficult to fit her in. Although I say Talia al Ghul FTW!

Like Damiean Dark said in another thread, don't have too many characters. Focus on Bats, Harvey and Gordon chasing the Joker. No love interest unless it advances the story. And definitely no revealing his identity to every woman he meets! Passing references to other characters maybe, but no other supervillains (Black mask, hush, penguin etc). Gangsters maybe, Maroni being the obvious choice. Just my two cents.

I simply must know! Is Harley Quinn going to be in the Dark Knight film, and are they gonna include Selina Kyle any time soon?! I'm so excited at the prospect!

We must build a Troll Repellent Bunker!

We're just buying our time with all these other superhero movies... TDK is going to be the real deal.

Murphy remains coy
Author: Jett
Sunday, April 8, 2007 - 6:42 PM CENTRAL TIME: There are rumors out there that Cillian Murphy will reprise his role as The Scarecrow in THE DARK KNIGHT. While he certainly isn't saying he's in, he's not saying he's out either:

As for his future movie projects, Murphy is remaining tight-lipped, but there is one that everyone keeps pestering him about: will he reprise his role as The Scarecrow in the next Batman?

He sighs and smiles. “I know nothing. As far as I know, there’s a script. It’s a film about Batman versus Joker and Two Face and we know Heath Ledger and Aaron Eckhart have been cast in those roles. But I’ll just wait for the call."

“Batman Begins was a brilliant experience. It was my first time working on that scale of a project. It was overwhelming.”

UPDATE: The Dark Knight Filming Begins?

April 13, 2007

'Anthony' wrote us from Chicago with possibly the first bit on The Dark Knight filming:

It is no secret that Batman is filming in Chicago this month, but I may have a location for you. On my way to take my wife to work today I noticed a lot of film trucks, when I picked her up the full crew was out shooting some night shots. I could not see exactly what they were filming, SO I CAN NOT GUARANTEE that the filming was in fact for Batman The filming was taking place in a part of town that used to be rundown, but is now pretty trendy. Still it has its share of empty lost, one of which was being filmed at tonight. Anyway, I was unable to get any pictures (forgot to grab my camera), but I will try. Also, the filming was going on at Taylor and Loomis on the UIC campus for anyone else who wants to try and get a peek.

'kal-el4real' wrote in with a scoop on the filming for Chris Nolan's The Dark Knight:

I went to casting today for extras for (the Dark Knight). The location was near the WGN studios off of Addison st. All around this area on buildings and warehouses were signs that read "RFK production staff only," or ,"RFK staff enter here," and, "RFK delivery drop off around back." (RFK obviously standing for Rory's first kiss, The Dark Knights production name." I can only imagine what is being housed in the massive warehouse in this area. As far as the casting went they REALLY needed cars and drivers for the June-September shooting they will be doing in the city. They said that they will do 1 week of shooting starting next week (April 21st-28th). Then the production will leave for a bit and return the begining of June. It seems that most of the stand inpositions have been casted except for the male 5ft11-6ft3 blonde hair position. I work downtown in a very tall building so if any day shooting goes on anywhere remotely around the heart of the city i'll keep you updated.

'peter' also told us the following:

i work across the street from the old post office in Chicago (just south and across the river from Sears Tower). They are clearly doing work on the inside of the lobby, and all around are signs that read "RFK" with arrows pointing to the building. They're also running something to the roof on ziplines from the building next door. They have a school bus in the loading dock, and are generally doing a good job at not having any visible filming equipment. Work started 2-3 days ago.

The Batman Begins sequel hits theaters on July 18.

An anonymous scooper sent this in:

Hey, I work in a McDonalds in Chicago across from where RFK's filming! I was denied as a driver, but got far along enough to know that it's for a car chase in the downtown Chicago streets, and their making preparations for a large aircraft to be very close to the ground, because they do not want any Suv's which is what I drive. They did say I could recieve a call back in June, about a role that would be shot in Native Plants Park.

Stay tuned for more on the filming in Chicago.

Chicago resident 'ilk' wrote in with more on The Dark Knight filming in Chicago:

I live in the (ironically named) gotham lofts in chicago, which just happen to be a block from where the dark knight is going to be filming. they've posted signs on all the light poles about upcoming parking restrictions. my balcony overlooks the street where they'll be shooting, but i am not sure if they are coming all the way west to where i am at.

also, got to peek inside the old chicago post office thursday afternoon. they have the lobby made up to be the "gotham national bank."

Stay tuned for more!
What's the Dark Knight Doing at a Post Office?

Scooper 'NJS' told Superhero Hype! more about the scene for The Dark Knight that is being filmed at a Chicago post office:

A very good friend of mine is a stuntman working on the new Batman film currently on location in Chicago. He is playing the role of one of Joker's clown goons who robs the "Gotham National Bank" set-up inside the old post office. The clown escapes by crashing through a nearby high rise 20th-floor gliding across the city on a cable to the 9th floor of Chicago's Union Train Station ...I hear this scene is being shot tonight Monday April 16th.

The Dark Knight opens in theaters on July 18, 2008

'Matthew J.' wrote in this report from Chicago where The Dark Knight is about to start filming:

I went to where they're filming "The Dark Knight" and I saw what everyone was talking about with the post office as the Gotham National Bank. A few new notes though: Filming won't actually start until Wednesday. The "Rory's First Kiss" notices say that they will be filming until Saturday or Sunday from 6am to 9pm. I took pictures of the set and there is an additional set piece that they added to the actual building on its west side, not sure what it is going to be used for though. Also, the coolest thing that I saw was that there was a schoolbus inside of the building. Again, I have no idea what it is going to be used for but I'm sure it has to do with a major action sequence. I actually took a good amount of pictures. I tried to get closer to the east side of the building but I was chased away by set security. Oh well though, I got some good stuff.

UPDATE: 'Matthew J.' sent along the photos as well, and described them as follows:

#1: this is the notice that traffic and parking will be obstructed due to the filming of "Rory's First Kiss."
#2: this is looking into the building and you can kinda see the top of a school bus through the bottom part of the window
#3: this is the piece that they added on to the building
#4: looking through the front door, here is the sign for the "Gotham
National Bank"
#5: this is an exterior look of the building they will be filming in...it has the lifts outside for lighting

Scooper 'Chi-Town Cobblepot' sent us this report and photos from The Dark Knight set in Chicago (Possible spoilers ahead!:

I was down in the city where they are setting up for The Dark Kinght aka RFK, at about 1a.m. and I snuck through security with my ninja skills and I managed to capture some good shots of inside the Gotham National Bank and of the School Bus that they are going to use. Rumor on the set is that The Joker is going to crash through the bank in a school bus full of his goons, and rob the bank during the daytime, seeing as how this is a daytime shot (which was posted on the green sheet titled RFK), and also, banks are not open at night, so it would have to be a daytime shot.

Scoopers 'Joel R. and 'Shaun R.' have sent in more photos of the post office set for The Dark Knight in Chicago. You can view them below.

Meanwhile, 'Anonymous' sent an update on his previous scoop:

This did take place that evening. However, I found out from my buddy the next day, (the guy actually doing the stunt), that Monday night was just rigging and testing. He did (3) tests Monday on the stunt where he flew over Van Buren Street 20-stories above the deck on a cable and landed on the roof of a building ...this will be a major action scene.
