Which of these two movies do you like better?

I think Logan is better. TDKR isn't bad to me, but it's kinda bloated and overstuffed and has things that suffer in execution to me.

Logan. I think that TDKR, while having some really good stuff throughout just doesn't gel as a film and is very messy and unfocused as compared to it's preceding installments. Logan is just an amazing dramatic achievement of the Fox era of mutant films and it's anchored by three really great performances from it's leads. I don't find Logan at all frustrating where as TDKR is all kinds of frustrating with it's themes and characters too often for my liking.

Logan is the superior film by a comfortable margin for a variety of reasons.

Logan is the best really serious, grounded and gritty superhero film to me, so naturally it's my choice here.

Both are tastefully filmed and both have great production values. But I have many more problems with TDKR in comparison to Logan.

In Logan, Wolverine talks of how everyone brought into his life is hurt. At the midpoint of the film, he and company run into Eriq LaSalle and his family whom they decide to stay with after helping them on the road. Then the whole family is murdered by the crew that was after Wolverine. WOW, WHAT A SURPRISE! I just hated that part of the movie as it was so stupid and didnt care for Wolverine fighting himself at the end either.

Dark Knight Rises is a flawed movie but it ties up a terrific trilogy with a satisfying end. The return of Bruce as Batman taking lines from Frank Millers Dark Knight Returns, Bruce climbing out of the pit, his sacrifice as Batman with the bomb, his moment shared with Alfred at the end and Robin rising (get it?) up on the platform to become The Dark Knight. All great, powerful stuff that overshadows the lesser parts of the film.

I prefer Batman as a character, it helps in choosing TDKR over Logan as the movie I prefer. It doesn't matter to me that Logan is mostly a better made movie, I don't care for the adamantium poisoning Logan after all these years and depleting his healing factor.

The Dark Knight Rises for me. I enjoyed Logan but wasn't nearly as bowled over by it as some people, and after seeing it twice I've no desire to see it again. Rises on the other hand I've watched numerous times and will watch numerous more.

Logan is technically a better movie overall but there are parts of Rises i prefer. I love both for different reasons but i'll give slight nudge to Logan.

This is a good poll. I chose Logan.

TDKR has the better villain (I don't care what anyone says, Bane is still the big bad), a more uplifting ending, and some great action set pieces.

However Logan is pure heart. Grim as hell, but fantastic all around on exception of maybe the villain issue, and even then I don't think the villain is the point. It's less a comic book film and more a journey film.

Logan all the way, it has and outstanding screenplay and really strong performances from Jackman and Stewart. While Tom Hardy is great in TDKR and Nolan's grand-scale direction is always fresh, the script has few big problems which make Logan a better film.

Logan easily.

TDKR for me. It's just more entertaining on many levels, so I prefer it. It also has plenty of unintentionally funny moments sprinkled throughout the movie, a fantastic Hans Zimmner score and great cinematography and production values. Also, I'm a massive Batman fan so I am obviously biased but yeah...Even though I didn't really care much for it at first I've come to really appreciate it in a lot of ways.

I loved Logan and but I think it's slightly overrated.

Batman Begins and The Dark Knight are my two favourite movies of all time.

...but Logan is better than The Dark Knight Rises.

Rises has much to enjoy, but there are several large missteps that undermine it. In Nolan’s desire to tell a Batman story with a beginning, a middle and an end, he makes a lot of bad decisions when it comes to the portrayal of Bruce’s character in the movie. The script is very unpolished as well. The whole nuclear bomb subplot is badly done. The trapped police element is bloody silly. The John Blake character is poorly realised. The Talia Al Ghul reveal is poor as well. It honestly feels like Nolan et al. had just run out of enthusiasm by the time the third movie came around.

I think that if Rises has been done by another director, and hadn’t come after the best comic book movie ever made, it wouldn’t get the pass it does.

Logan, on the other hand, is an expertly crafted character study that is dramatically excellent throughout, contains some wonderful performances, and is the best movie in the X universe.

Logan

Interesting comparison.

I struggle to watch either film

Logan...because its hard seeing Wolverine so broken down and decrepit, and such an ******* for most of the film, and of course both he and Professor X die ! But otherwise its a superb film.

TDKR gets worse with each viewing, while there are bits I like, the plot contrivances get more jarring each time.

So....Logan.

I have only three major problems with Logan. Zander Rice, smartphone presentation and underdeveloped relationship between Logan and Laura. These moments don't allow me to call it a superb film.

TDKR... Boy this film didn't age well for me and gets progressively worse each time I watch it. This is pretty much spot on:

Plus Clean Slate magic device.

Logan, and it's not close.

I would watch Wolverine Origins before I watched Logan again. That movie is fun at least.

I shared a lot of controversial opinions through the years, and I find this opinion worth liking.

Logan is on the boring side for a CBM (hell it's barely a CBM but that's another conversation). I much prefer the unintentional wackyness of The Dark Knight Rises.
