The Dark Knight The-Dark-Knight's Joker-Observation-What's the Twist?

Great thread...

First of all, I've always thought that the Joker will go through a huge transformation throughout the film. Perhaps he's not The Joker as we all know and love at the beginning of the film. But just a bank robbing psycho and takes on the persona of a clown further from just wearing a mask. Remember at the end of Begins what Gordon says, "If your wearing a mask and jumping off rooftops..." something to taht affect (don't remember the exact wording), but that leads me to believe that at the beginning of the film, The Joker is normal looking and just wears a mask. I believe that sometime during the film, he gets these scars, either on one side and finishes them on the other (which would be cool as hell), or on both sides. He then gets the idea for the make up, and either starts applying it himself, or something along that line. By the end of the movie, he gets into an accident scaring him and creating him to be a permanent clown. I dunno, I'm just throwing out ideas here.

It's a possibility he might not be Joker at the beginning, only if they decide to
do an origin for Joker at the front. Being that he's considered at the end of BB as Joker already, it might be unlikely but not entirely ruled out. As for his progressive transformation I agree with ya. My potential theory is more of a Michael Jackson-psychotic approach that I just tossed out on this site as fodder.

See above.

3. Joker applies makeup in the film but not in this scene because he's wearing a mask
And, yet, we see him having a conversation (however brief) with the ill-fated bank manager seemingly in the same scene, with makeup. Now, unless, he wipes off some flesh colored makeup and hair dye, and just applies the panda eyes and lipstick (I can live with him applying those), we're going to be expected to believe that the Joker, in that interval, applies his entire face AND somehow magically gets his hair green.

We know that it is indeed Heath in the "Grumpy" mask/outfit:

And it looks like the same shirt in the original pictake image. Just, since it's taken from very far away (like on the tenth floor of a building, just zoomed in a bunch) it's harder to see the detail like design.

If the unmasked pic is Ledger (which it is), then the masked pic is his stuntman or some other sort of double. In the unmasked pic, the jacket Ledger is wearing does not have a breast pocket. All of the pictures with the maske have a breast pocket.
Edit: ok, the breast pocket is only visible in the first masked pic, sorry.

he has the black eye makeup in that fuzzy imax photo that seems to be part of the same scene, so who knows

maybe he's wearing pink panda eyes

Oh, I didn't know the blurry IMAX pic was from the bank scene.

That confuses me even more because he's in full Joker getup there:ninja:

Good point.

I don't think they're definitely confirmed as being connected but he's at least wearing the same outfit and someone pointed out that the interiors are extremely similar, though with different lighting

If anyone from the film monitors this thread, he must be very happy.

After all this debate about the Joker applying makeup, and the Joker's skin actually being bleached, I think I can safely say the the Joker goes through some stages throughout the film according to the pictures. I made this observation sheet just so you guys could see what I'm trying to say here. Hope this thread isn't considered useless, hope you guys could agree what I'm trying to say.

Wow, interesting sutff man, nice work on the write up

It looks like the clown prince of crime still has a few tricks up his purple sleeve. The joke's on us.

The interiors, aren't just similar, it's being filmed at the same place. The pic was taken during the crew's stint in Chicago.

i figured it out, the last scene of B.B. is a glimpse for the second right, armed robbery homicide leaves calling card, well nolin has been known for bending time alittle in his movies, so in TDK we get to see what gordon is talking about, if you watch the last scene of B.B. it obviously takes place a few weeks or a few days after the final confrontation, either way nolin will reverse the clock alittle before that rooftop meeting with the card and signal, hence the bank robbery.

NOLAN.

Other than that, you raise a good point, sir.

I dunno. I always really doubted the bank scene being a flashback.

I mean, why couldn't he rob multiple banks? Why does this one have to be the one at the end of BB?

The entire movie's gonna be shown backwards! :wow:

I was also really hoping that the bank robbery in this movie would also be the same one that Gordon was talking about at the end of Batman Begins.

i certainly try, but i am whipped right now i was on th lake all day and it was like 110 degrees, i look like the RED SKULL no *****

it makes sense to me considering the time gap that seems to be there, but let us not forget this anime stuff, maybe it will fill up the gaps of trying catch the loonies and then we go into TDK with the whole bank robbery then the rooftop

Interesting. I have also pondered whether or not we will get certain stages. One things for sure: WB is constantly f***ing with us and they're doing a damn good job.

yes they are! but it's real fun! ahemmm .......sometimes!
