DC: New Age Volume 1 Application

Screen Name: SenseiofCheese

Character you would like to play: Ralph Dibny

Powers: None. Ralph used to drink Gingold, which granted him the power to stretch and shape his body, but he no longer drinks it.

Hero/Villain: Retired hero.

Identity (Public/Secret?): Public

Origin (If not a new character, a recap of events leading to how your character got to what they are today): During the D-Day invasion, Ralph fought alongside the heroes against Darkseid's army. As is known, the invading force was eventually defeated but the victory came at a price. Along with many friends, Ralph lost the love of his life, his wife Sue. Ralph's happy life was shattered, and he begun to suffer from depression and developed suicidal tendencies. He became a recluse, and in the 20 years since D-Day, has shut himself off completely from the world.

Personality: Ralph used to be a happy person, often making humorous remarks, as well as being very witty. However, after the death of his wife, he fell into a deep depression and has become reclusive, rarely venturing outside of his house.

Three reasons why you have chosen that character:

1) I've been looking for the right RPG to play Ralph in, and I've found it.

2) I've always liked Ralph. His stint in Identity Crisis and 52 made me a big fan of his.

3) I wanted to play a serious character, and Ralph is most certainly that.

Write two complete sentences using proper English grammar explaining what you plan to do with the character you've chosen (i.e. What are your goals? Will you be doing anything different with the character than is usually seen?): I want to show the insanely depressing state Ralph is stuck in without his Sue. But I'm going to have him try to bring himself out of misery, going from retired hero back to hero.

How many times do you intend on posting a DAY IN the RPG: As many as needed.

Color and font you plan on using for your characters speech: Georgia, purple.

He'd been looking at himself in the mirror for a long time, yet he still didn't recognize himself. His eyes. His face. His body. It felt like they all belonged to someone else. Someone who had taken over his body and ruined everything in his life before he knew it.
Ralph Dibny stared intently at his reflection. Every line on his face was a reminder of the failure he had become. But still he stared, some small part of him hoping that maybe if he stared hard enough he would wake up. Wake up from this horrible life.
Wake up in warm bed. With a warm body next to him.
Her warm body.
Sue. His lovely Sue.

"20 years..." Ralph said, his words meant for no one in particular. Not that anyone could hear him. He was alone.

He had been for 20 years.

Updated Memorial Picture edited into the first post below roster.

I decided to give up on the Prison picture of the inmates in Mr.Freeze's prison. It was a good idea, but I was unable to come up with a frame/overall design for such a picture.

If you guys got any pictures I can use for reference, since I have had trouble finding inspiration for the frame of the picture, feel free to post them.

Inmates List picture is up. Hope you guys like it, was a lot harder than the Memorial picture. Also, it is supposed to be hard to read. Was going for a look that an inmate carved it with what he could find.

Thanks. Although, I may edit in a more legible font. I got the effect I wanted, but to make it slightly less annoying, I'll choose a font that still looks somewhat carved by an inmate, but more legible.

Well, it's more of a slight urge than anything else, so you didn't inspire me that much (See what I did there? Try being happy now!), but after reading your post I almost, kind of, maybe can see myself perhaps thinking about almost kind of applying for Vic Stone.
