The Doctor Doom Thread

This is the MCU though. Not comics. We are not even getting a 616 Reed. The Reed we are getting is from whatever they label the FF: First Steps world. Ideally Doom SHOULD be smarter than Tony, but I don't think we need a switched at birth mechanic simply to correct something like this to be more comic accurate.
I don't think they're going
the planted at birth route
to make the Infinity Saga more comic accurate. I think they were looking for a way to bring RDJ in and landed there.

Again, I rewatched the whole Infinity Saga. Tony is too OP. They literally had him create Time Travel, something Doom was responsible for in the comics.

Tony being too smart just helps the idea of
making him a Doom who was placed in the 616 to ensure Kang's eventual conception. The fact that he became Earth's mightiest hero due to good conditions/upbringing just reinforces the lore of how powerful the mind of a Doom can be.

And making Tony Stark into Doctor Doom and having another person as essentially Fred Claus version of Tony somehow makes this thing absolutely no one was complaining about better? Did M Night write this?

Explain why Steve Rogers and Johnny Storm have the same face and they didn't do all this to explain it?

I think you are 100% right. We already have Steve Rogers and Johnny Storm having the same face in different universes. No need to overcomplicate it.
E-??? Doctor Doom randomly looking like 616 Tony Stark makes no sense at all and is the main reason some fans aren't happy with RDJ's casting.

The Evans/Human Torch bit worked in DP&W because its a gag. It works because its played for laughs.

616 Tony Stark and the Doctor Doom we're getting looking like twins has to make sense for the GA. I trust McFeely, The Russos and Feige to deliver a solid explanation.

You realize that if tomorrow THR or Variety report that the leak is true or partially true or an earlier draft of that opening scene, you're still going to hate these movies, right?

You're a buzzkill in this thread.

A "Doctor Doom" thread where all you do is complain and pontificate on how you'd rather see Superior Iron Man (LOL) be the villain of the next Avengers movies rather than Doctor Doom. Its laughable, man.
What's "laughable" is you thinking you can you can go after people on the board like this for simply not liking how something sounds, or not buying into an alleged leak. You're new, so I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt. Please be civil in your disagreement, or there's the door.

The reason people are upset is because they wanted a different actor as Doctor Doom from the actor who played Tony Stark. What they didn't want is to erase the first 20+ movies of the series, where Tony was basically the main character.

Deadpool and Wolverine is not a gag film. It's 100% in continuity in the MCU.

What you are suggesting is one of the biggest insults I can imagine to fans. Meaning their journey with Tony Stark didn't happen. It would legitimately be one of the dumbest things in the history of cinema and hurt the MCU in a way not even Batman v. Superman could dream of.

They're the same person with different names and lives. So really, the same but not the same.

For all intents and purposes, Doom is a Stark variant. Or Stark is a Doom variant.

Po-tay-to po-taw-to.

not sure I understand the point of the switch at birth... like what's the motivation there?

just, so, a version of Doom is raise rich? is it like a social experiment ? to see how they end up

whats the benifit to taking the really baby Tony to an alternate universe?
In the alleged leak
Kang plants a Doom baby in the 616 to ensure his own birth thousands of years later. Kang is a descendant of Doom's. The fact that the baby grows up to be a hero in being raised by the Starks, introduces the concept of nature vs. nurture to Doom's arc. If he's raised by good people, in good conditions, he becomes Earth's mightiest hero. If he's allowed to grow up in Latveria however, under harsh conditions, he becomes Earth's greatest threat. They're proposing the idea that a Doom is either the best of us (616 Tony) or the worst of us (God Emperor of Battleworld).

The "alleged" leak. You're the one alleging it.

doesn't that kinda create a grandfather paradox of sorts, tho

yes, it'd put his ancestor in this new universe, but, with a different upbringing whats to ensure he ends up with the same partners in the future or whatever and so on and so forth through the generations that made him who he is...

You get the nature/nurture concept just by having two versions of the same person live completely different lives in separate universes.

And you avoid the narrative clunk of swapping babies 'cause Kang or something.
