The Election Night Thread - Part 1

A legit third option with the money support, news coverage, and folks behind them. I ain't going back n forth just for the hell of it, man.

People have the right to vote. They are registered voters and they can vote for whoever they want. There are always other options.

Folks, don't kill yourself. There will always be time for that later.

This is a very dark night. Probably the darkest I can remember in my adult life.

Make no mistake, America has disgraced itself. History is going to tear us a new one.

But, if Rome could survive Caligula, we can survive 4 years of Trump. Probably.

Anyway, I am exhausted. Good night.

This really does feel like Emperor Palpatine's rise to power...

See you all in November 2020

For the first time in my life, I am absolutely ashamed of my country. I can understand losing to someone who doesn't hold my values, but to lose to one of the most vile people in Presidential history. Shame on you America. Shame on you.

How...did she lose Pen?

Democrats haven't lost PA since 1988. I'm guessing white working class voters who Hillary couldn't connect with combined with lower enthusiasm from people who voted for Obama twice.

I honestly have no idea what I'm going to do for insurance now. Obamacare is gone. I have a kidney transplant and literally can't live without good medical insurance.

I really am curious to see how this is going to work. Trump as president. I guess Nixon is about as close as we've come to this.

Nixon's policies weren't that bad though...he was a moderate really. Got us off of the gold standard, opened up China, ended Vietnam War, created the EPA, advanced women's rights with title IX, etc. We can only wish for him to be Nixon.

I posted this on Facebook, but I though it'd be appropriate here as well.

The Democrats need to look long and hard at what happened tonight. I voted for Hillary because I wanted to stop a madman, but the American people wanted a dramatic, explosive change. I disagree with their instrument of change, but what's done is done. The Democrats should have looked at the cloud of followers that Bernie whipped up and realized that voters are sick of the status quo and that Hillary was very much the face of the status quo. Yes, I wanted her to win, but only as a means to stop Trump who I believe is a real danger to not just America, but the planet as well. The Democrats should have run a change candidate. All the polls were wrong, but if you take an objective view of the election the writing was on the wall. You can bet your ass that going forward I will be more involved politically. If you're pissed as hell that Trump won then you need to step up. There are Congressional seats up for grabs in 2018. Keep fighting. I may have been doom and gloom tonight, and I believe I have good reason for feeling that way, but nothing is truly over. The American people can persevere.

Anyone else driving to John Goodman's basement right now?

I just ran Sawyer off the road!

Seeing anchors say they hope they know what Trump's policies are soon. HEY *******S! WHY DID'NT YOU ASK HIM??

Well, society was great while it lasted. Un-Intellectuals and science deniers are now running the most important country in the world. Well done America. Now, lets all sit back and watch the world burn.

It's a true global tragedy. The day stupidity won.

I honestly have no idea what I'm going to do for insurance now. Obamacare is gone. I have a kidney transplant and literally can't live without good medical insurance.

Oh my god...

Seriously. That's what gets me. A Republican created the EPA.

Donald was right. This election was rigged. Rigged with 100% Grade A American Stupidity. Well, done America. You **** your breeches in front of the whole world.

Trump used some people from Cambridge Analytica:

https://cambridgeanalytica.org/

The people there are no joke. Someone I knew met that group in London.

They managed to convince their opponent that they were low information and strong on emotion only when they were really not.

Biggest disaster to hit this country since 9/11. Just watch how the rest of the world reacts to this debacle.

I think Bernie would have done better then Hillary, because he was also an anti establishment candidate and he could have debated better against Trump' arguments and had far less baggage.

The Dems have established themselves as a do nothing establishment party who watches polls and does nothing else. I think they needed a stronger ideological message to defeat Trump and they failed to deliver it.

At least Trump cannot claim the system is rigged against him anymore, his failures are his own at this point.

NBC News projects Hillary Clinton wins 3 out of 4 Maine electoral votes, Trump wins 1 Maine electoral vote. They split it there.

At least Prince, Bowie and Robin Williams have been spared this catastrophe.
