The Election Night Thread - Part 2

it's all Russell's fault - tweet from 2013

Never have I ever had a terrible feeling in the pit of my stomach after an election.

Trump appealed to the Americans who actually believe he's going to build that wall
That he's going to be able to round up every undocumented worker that he claims are thieves and rapists
He played on peoples fears
It didnt help matters that all of a sudden the FBI reopened the email case against
Hilary Clinton a week before the election Trump took that meaningless ball and ran with it
and now are only hope is that he will surround himself with people that actually know government and foreign policy
that someone will reign him in or that he has enough common sense to reign himself
in.
In the end i believe even the people that voted for him are in for a rude awakening!!!!

anybody seen Rod Serling hanging around anywhere? He has to be out there somewhere..

Congratulations to Mike Pence for becoming the 45th President of the United States, damn now I wish Kasich had said yes.

I think we overlooked the fact that Hillary is a corrupt criminal who continuously lies.

I don't feel that last part will hold true. The vast majority of folks that voted Bush in twice have yet to reckon with their responsibility for unleashing those 8 years of incompetence on the nation and the world and they never will and my guess is most of those same people voted for Trump yesterday too.

This is going to sound like a rant and I apologize, but right now, I am ashamed and disappointed to call myself an American, last night this country showed that hate, racism, ignorance and fear rule this country. I have voted in now 8 presidential elections, and do not consider myself Democrat or Republican, I have always voted my beliefs and educate myself on the people running for the most powerful position in the world, been told by hundreds of people in my life that I am a very good judge of a person, and in this election, while both were not the best we could have put forth, between the two it was never even close as to who was the better choice, last night, that person was defeated by a man who used the ignorance and fear of people to get elected, if for one minute you feel this man is the champion of the common man as he claims, remember he crushed every single common man he has ever known, he will not be your champion, if you are a women and think he will champion you, consider all those women he has hurt and belittled, all the basic rights women have struggled for are now in jeopardy, again he is not your champion.
For the only time in my life to I truly fear for not this country but the world, we let this happen, the warning signs have been there long before this election, we let divisive language, distrust and hate creep into our republic, our very way of life is now at risk, why, because like so many other great civilizations, we slept, shrugged our shoulders and said he can not be as bad as he sounds, today one party now controls every aspect of our government, and party of the big corporations and billionaires, you will find no champion for the little guy today, maybe never again.

I think we overlooked the fact that Hillary is a corrupt criminal who continuously lies.

all I will say to this, when people lie about someone over and over, eventually the lie becomes the truth.

"I hate those North Eastern Elites with their immoral libertine ways, the wealthy and powerful that treat workers bad and the politicians whose rhetoric divides us... So of course the answer is sending thrice married New York billionaire Donald Trump to the White House."

So it's official Clinton won leads int he popular vote. 2 times in 16 years Democrats got screwed by the electoral college

It should also be noted that decent chance when all the votes are counted that both Clinton and Trump have less votes the Romney

I have no idea how so many people don't see this. And the countless other ******** things about him.

I realized I was going to feel this way no matter who won this morning.

As a conservative, I've never felt so betrayed by my party. All I want is a candidate who says, "Hey, let's watch the spending, secure the nation, and stay the f**k out of the People's personal s**t."

Urgh... President Trump. Oh dear.

2000 AD predicted this btw. In Judge Dredd a nutjob POTUS set up his post apocalyptic world.

They just called him Robert L Booth. Even looks similar to Trump...Yeesh...

She's reasonable.

She doesn't advocate torture, celebrating autocrats/dictators, banning certain religion, getting rid of the minimum wage, spreading nukes throughout Asia, a Muslim database, punishing women for abortions, beating up protestors, violating the 14th amendment, shutting down mosques, rejecting the possibility of Climate Change, tweeting white supremacist memes, etc.

I could go on and on and on.

And that's assuming Trump doesn't lie or cheat people on par with Hillary. He does and then some.

No one really overlooked that. Pretty much every president is corrupt in ways.

The issue is that for the first time in a long long time. The US have elected an openly racist, sexual predator of a clown criminal to run their great nation. Hillary is the much, much lesser evil of the two.

Here's just one part that's going to F up our beautiful planet.
Trump on global warming:

  • Trump called global warming a Chinese hoax. He couldn’t have been blunter about this.
  • Trump has said, straight up, he wants to scrap all the major regulations that President Obama painstakingly put in place to reduce US carbon dioxide emissions, including the Clean Power Plan. With Republicans controlling the House and Senate, he can easily do this. Pass a bill and sign it. Done.
  • Trump has also hinted he wants to get rid of the Environmental Protection Agency entirely. “What they do is a disgrace,” he has said. If Congress agrees, he could readily scrap regulations on mercury pollution, on smog, on coal ash, and more.
  • Trump has said he wants to repeal all federal spending on clean energy, including R&D for wind, solar, nuclear power, and electric vehicles. Again, with Congress at his side, this is totally doable.
  • Trump has said he wants to pull the United States out of the Paris climate deal. There’s nothing stopping him. (Technically, the US can’t officially withdraw for four years, but for all practical purposes, the Trump administration could ignore it.)

So was anyone else not able to sleep last night?

Youre wasting your time.

Anyone who tries to equate Hilary's corruptness (which of course is bad but is par of the course for a politician) to Trump's open xenophobia, sexism, hate rhetoric is...I can't say without getting banned

You complain and b***h about corruptness and then then you support Trump or wasted your vote on Jill Stein or Gary Johnson? Get out of here. Get all the way the f*** outta here. Im also 99% sure the people who go on about how bad of Clinton is couldn't tell me why without going to Google or just saying something about emails

So was anyone else not able to sleep last night?

I'll sleep well enough, but I've got indigestion and my stomach is hurting from all the anxiety and stress.

So was anyone else not able to sleep last night?

I work night. Went to bed at 6pm and woke up around 12am. Been up since shocked that demagoguery, conspiracy theories and willful cognitive dissonance have won the day in American politics.
