Arrow The Emily Bett Rickards/ Felicity Smoak Thread

I hope her role is reduced.
Recent episodes have had a few hints that future may lead to a Oliver and Laurel hooking up.
Arrow and the Black Canary together just like(gasp) the comic books.

They aren't going to reduce the female lead and most popular character, Laurel and Oliver don't work as there is no chemistry between Amell and Cassidy, and the comics moved on from that anyway.

Plus the show runners have teased things that would be rather stupid for them to do if she's getting reduced screentime or is gone...

Chemistry is subjective. Not that it really matters, because chemistry or not, any relationship with Oliver isn't very well written and every female character is better off without him. But if the show was better popularity wouldn't matter.

God bless you! God bless everyone!

They tend to use the same lines and scenes with new characters. Oliver/Felicity scene in season 3 eerie similar to Laurel/Oliver season one.

If you would have told me back in Season 1 that Felicity would become one of my most hated fictional characters I never would have believed you.

So according to the 2046 Legends of Tomorrow episode,
Felicity left Oliver and took everything. How's that for Felicity pandering lol!

They couldn't even bring themselves to fake kill her in the future where they fake-killed everyone else.

I think personally that Felicity should go back to wearing her hair down. Yeah, I get CEO and all, so professional. But I think at this point, mentally, I subconsciously associate Ponytail Felicity with her bad attitude lately. Compare:

She wears her hair in the tail so often now it's how I see "bratty Felicity." Once they get her attitude straight (assuming they do), if they let her put her hair down again I think I'd be more inclined to be okay with her.

I'll never understand when people say this. I think Amell and Cassidy have amazing chemistry on-screen together, just look at the hallway scene or the "This city needs the Arrow," scene from the end of Season 2. The problem is that the writers don't give them enough to do together. It's true that Felicity and Oliver had chemistry back when it was a simply playful one-sided crush but now that they're actually together I think the chemistry between the two actors is nonexistent and godawful. They drag down the whole show with every scene. It's all subjective I suppose though.

Yeah .. if you look at the majority of their scenes throughout the series, it's been Laurel angry at Oliver for 75% of the time, Oliver calling her out on some BS 20% of the time, and the rest is them being civil or talking about Sara.

I actually don't really find her attractive anymore.

Yeah she's clearly hot, but she was hotter as the nerdy girl that daydreamed over having a hot boyfriend.

Now she's just another supermodel, and her scenes are so heavy that she rarely smiles or is cute anymore. I dunno, I think it's the character, bit of a turn off.

I honestly don't find her hot. Cute maybe, but more often than not, all I see is a young Dana Carvey. It could actually be him too, considering he's a master of disguise.

Well I wouldn't call her a super model. She's attractive but has always been in more of a geeky way. She's more typically the best friend/ confidante type of role but has been forced on us as the love interest and rammed down our throats at every opportunity. So yeah. I don't really find her attractive anymore either. She's terrible at acting and every scene she's in makes me cringe.

When she had little to do and made the witty comments in small doses she was ok. But when she's been given more to do she doesn't have the range and her dramatic scenes are always melodramatic with her quivering voice which is the absolute worst.

Felicity is like a cucumber. In small thin slices with other food she adds some interesting flavor. But if you cut cucumber too thick and have to eat large bites of it at once, it's not as good or palatable.

I believe the phrase is "grown too big for her britches".

Co-sign. It's funny how a persons personality can make a person seem attractive or not.

If they do create a Felicity spin-off, I bet half the episodes will be just her doing her weird quirky routine in the bathtub.

This is one spin-off I would actually like to happen, because it would satisfy all the Tumblr fans who need their weekly fix, but keep Felicity away from shows like Arrow. People who don't like her won't have to watch this, while those who are fans can be in their own little bubble without her having to be foisted onto the rest of us ad nauseum.
