Is it just me or did they do something to make this episode look more filmic. Like they broke out the expensive cameras ot something. A lot of scenes visually looked more like a movie than a tv show to me.

Hope they keep it that way.

While it wasn't intentional, considering recent events regarding ISIS Terrorists and their execution videos, I feel like the whole scene with Oliver (dressed the way that he was) interrogating Tommy was somewhat in bad taste.

Oh come on now

I don't get why anyone is confused as to how Thea is suddenly a badass. 5 months is a long time, and if all you do for five months is learn from one of the best martial artists in the world (and I imagine Merlyn can pay for many of them) then you will get badass, especially if you come from a family that has a talent for it (which being related to Merlyn on one side and Ollie on the other is a justifiable assumption)

As to the episode, Laurel's reactions were normal and to be expected, so I guess my hope is that she at some point starts rising above 'normal' towards heroic, because Dinah always was a better person than Ollie in the comics and I'd like to see that from her.

Team Arrow were solid and I liked the writing for the most part (occasional 'what?' moments, but mostly solid). I'm hoping that Laurel builds up from this, though, because we've already seen a death break her, so a repeat of that, while entirely human, will not be fun to watch.

Hoping Lance finds out sooner rather than later, and looking forward to seeing Nyssa's reaction.

(Still angry at the writers for killing Sara off, but the wound's starting to scab over a bit)

So we got the new opening for the season. It's starting to sound kinda strained for him to keep saying "I must become...something else."Next season, can we finally have have him say "I must become...Green Arrow."

I liked it.
It was the inevitable grieving episode. Now we have the mystery set up, the fact that it probably won't be easy work finding out who killed Sara and a few of the players are falling into place.

We still need to get to Palmer's goals and the inevitable reveal of Ras to really kick it into gear but we're only 2 episodes in.

On a side note, I knew that coming off of a season in which a lot of people said was great based mainly on Deathstroke meant the following season was probably going to be a step down to them. I'm expecting to hear those complaints eventually. If your entire enjoyment hinged on one character who won't necessarily exist in the next season, you're probably just barely into the show anyway.

It looks like this is going to be a continuing potboiler for the majority of the season.

Yep. Personally, I don't think "who killed Sara?" is an interesting enough mystery to drag out for an entire season (and this episode did very little to convince me otherwise).

I couldn't buy Ollie's sphinx-like demeanor.

I thought Oliver's hesitance to display any outward emotion was classic him. Amell did a good job of portraying a man trying to keep it together in the face of grief.

The scene with Ollie & Felicity came across as more Olicity pandering to me. Just didn't feel earned.

Rickards was terrible in that scene.

The part with Laurel interrogating the guy in the hospital was borderline ridiculous.

Yeah, I'm sorry to say that I didn't find her to be the least bit badass or intimidating.

The flashback was a huge waste.

Seriously. They didn't need to bring Tommy back for whatever it was they were trying to accomplish.

The action was pretty sweet.Liked the motercycle duel and the fight between Komodo,Arrow and his As Yet Unnamed Sidekick.

I actually thought the motorcycle fight was a little silly (but I appreciate the creativity and originality behind it).

Am I the only one that did not buy Felicity being so upset over Sara ? She spent most of her time around her jealous & when she did get over it they hardly did anything

I think you should rewatch season two again. They actually got along quite well.

I didn't like it. Amell sounds bored.

7.5/10 for this episode. Better than the premiere, but we can do better.

Regarding the motorcycle fight, I found ithe cuts between shots a little off sometimes. Also you could definitely see Komodos prop bow wobble like crazy in one shot :oldrazz:

Not so easy. Assuming that she is "gifted" (Merlyn+Ollie "combination" of genes) she never has shown before any special skills or formidable fitness before. Yes, you can train someone young and fit with very hard training to be a solid fighter (I assume that sword will be her specialty - which makes the whole story more believable - she is too skinny and small to be an expert with an unarmed combat) within 5 months but it is still far from the level of potential "counterparts" (Arrow, late Sarah or her father). On the other hand - we do not know how good she really is...

The only thing I remember from this episode is how good thea looked. Someone get me her number.

Théa had special gift before:

I don't understand why the logic of Thea's training needs to make perfect sense on a show like this. There have been much more absurd and outlandish things that have taken place.

Laurel interrogating the guy in the hospital..was unbelieveable..AT BEST
She just brings the entire show down

Thea kicking ass..was just SOOO AWESOME..THAT SHORT HAIR..OHHH YEAH

I easily believed that a person could apply pressure to a broken arm to get information.
Seems easier to believe than Ollie not dying on the island.

Katie was more badass as Ruby in "Supernatural" but I guess Laurel isn't meant to be one yet. We're basically seeing her Ollie into Arrow transformation.

Cool episode. Loved Thea's scene but that "Dad" line <<<

Komodo was cool. But yeah archers are getting out of hand. But whatever. As long as he wasn't the one who killed Sara. I still wanna say Thea though.

If they want us to like Laurel... they should stop doing what they're doing right now.

Episode was a 7. A little bit worse than the premiere.

Corto Maltese looks awesome, though.

Why? For the people who like the character - and, yes, we do exist, and in greater numbers than one would think - what the writers have done with the character so far makes up the lion's-share of WHY we like the character (at least based on my experience).

The "negative impact" that Laurel has had or may have had on the series has been GROSSLY over-exaggerated, as have the "flaws" in the way she's been written and characterized. When you get right down to it, she's no more or less flawed than any of the other characters on the show, and has actually been written to react much more REALISTICALLY to things than any of the other characters, including Oliver (that's not a criticism; it's an observation).

Who realistically breaks into a As the World Turns monologue everytime they open their mouths? She's not flawed like the other characters IMO. The other characters are flawed dramatically, narratively. She is simply a character who isn't working. She's one giant sore thumb

Being an alcoholic and in danger all the time are not the flaws I'm worried about. The flaws are poor dialog coming from poor actress that the series is so committed to making important they make poor decisions trying to course adjust in her favor. I'm pretty sure most people are just being loyal to the name Laurel Lance since Sara was made for TV.

 Exactly.

I also liked that Laurel acknowledged her drinking last night.

I feel like the cliffhangers for the last two episodes have been really lacking. Sara getting killed...we all knew it was coming. Thea training with Merlyn....it was in the preview for the season. I want something that really surprises me. That's what I loved about season 2.

I just think people who are fans or at least have no problems with her are open to seeing the growth play out.
I don't really have issues with any of the characters but I'll be fair about it.
She was written issues that effect real people and we watch her get past them in "real time."
She doesn't benefit from unseen training or events like Sara.

Honestly, I think that makes a big difference.
The worst thing they could do if we're going to watch her grow is go too quickly. They probably even should've had her start some kind of training last season.
Without a "Well I was gone for five years and in that time I trained with the LoS" we have to see growing pains.

Who knows, maybe I'm overcomplicating it. But I have no reason to find her character unbelievable or to not be open to seeing her change over time. Especially if the others' flaws are given more of a pass because they can fight.

I just like the idea of overcoming problems to make someone stronger, the change look more credible or have a bigger impact.

If by the time she becomes Canary it doesn't feel earned, then I can label it a failure.

drops the mic...BOOM
whenever I see her on screen i just get an uneasy feeling

Thea had foreshadowing from episode one with the archery trophies and he 'wicked' aim thing. She has always been portrayed as physically fit.

Felicity did get on with Sara but even if not, she cried when moira died even though she didn't like her. It's her nature.

I liked felicity mentioning clones and multiplexes, a nice nod to the flash episode.

9/10 so far. It's a 22 episode season, some people are expecting too much out of only 2 episodes.

I can understand people's frustration. I'm more ok with it with Thea since their was some forshadowing beforehand (the archery trophies in her room, the "wicked aim" line, etc). Roy suddenly becoming a master archer off-screen when he could barely hold a bow properly only a couple episodes before and spent most of the intervening time in a Mirakuru-induced roid rage/coma, was much more annoying to me personally, basically because I'm getting tired of them doing that sort of thing offscreen. Show don't tell. If Laurel suddenly becomes a badass offscreen, it's going to be really annoying.

I liked seeing Tommy again, but I kind of feel like he was shoehorned into the flashbacks. The episode was titled "Sara" yet we got very little of her. It would have worked better imo if the flashbacks had been about her and exploring the affect that she had had on everyone. As it stands, Laurel was the only one who really delved into that (and kind of Felicity). It was kind of disappointing actually. Oh and Lance needs to find out SOON!
