Eternals The Eternals General Disscussion and Speculation thread

I knew about the Cathy Yan thing but that Jessica Chastain hate is so wtf. Did she steal Grace's man or sth?

Grace thought she knew who Jessica Chastain was playing in Dark Phoenix, and tweeted her. Jessica corrected her.

That’s when it all started!

Hahahaha. That's so pathetic.

Btw, is anyone else having trouble logging in these last few days?

Yes. I think something changed in the forum software, such that it reacts badly with either my browser or my anti-ad/script plugins or both. I have found that clicking the box to stay logged in seems to help.

By George, that actually worked. Thanks for the tip.

Hmm. This is going to be the last Marvel ip to get a 1st headlining Mcu movie in a long while. The next are Fantastic Four, Blade, Deadpool and Sam Wilson - we already have seen those four in previous movies even if, they were outside of the Mcu, so those aren't really new territory compare to Eternals.

I hope Marvel Studios focuses more sequels/3quels and the X-Men, before venturing to another obscure Ip. Ireally can't think of any obscure Marvel Ip left, that I see getting a feature film. Inhumans really isn't obscure anymore even if their show flopped. Squirrel Girl is I guess is the closest I could think of, but she isn't as obscure as Eternals.
I find it fascinating that Kevin Feige was praising this movie left and right and -so far- it is their lowest rated film in the entire MCU. I wonder if he knew it wasn't gonna be received well and just tried to inject a bit of interest/hype by making those remarks.

It obviously breaks the MCU formula and delivers something different.
Nomad land has also a slow pacing, that not everybody likes.
I’m glad they took that risk, but I assume it’ll fail and there won’t be a sequel. The main characters like Sersi could be a part of the MCU without a sequel. But the other Eternals probably will never show up again ( if they live at the end of the movie)

I think my lack of excitement really comes from their obscurity. I grew up watching Marvel cartoons and playing the video games. I never once heard of the Eternals, they seem like a big group yet none appeared in previous big time medias.
Now with GOTG they were pretty unknown and obscure but they are only a group of 5 so it is easy to know them they are also goofy and rib each other with jokes. Eternals are like 8-10 and the trailers seem like such dry humor towards each other, I haven't bothered to figure out what they do or what powers some have. I also don't anticipate most surviving the movie and if they do they should probably just be side characters in future movies.

Marvel took a risk just throwing them their own movie without any real lead ins such as cameos or references in prior movies. I can't see a sequel happening with heavy hitter groups like X-Men and F4 coming, those movies have spin off characters that can get their own movies too.

I am just not surprised by the lower rating and probably not normal BO it will get.

I wouldn't say it's fascinating. He's the producer and the head of Marvel Studios. He's doing his job and promoting the film. This is the entertainment game and people in his position often hype up and exaggerate their projects.

Got tickets for Friday night. Expectations are low based on the reviews and honestly not thrilled about the runtime. I feel like a 2 and a half hour movie should be for an Avengers type event.

Have a great eternal time!

Ugh if I didn't already have plans that night I would definitely be doing this. They still have available passes for my city :(

I was not expecting acknowledgement of the reviews not going well.

Yeesh. That first teaser failed this movie imo. I'm an MCu fan and even I was like mehhh

That sounds desperate indeed. :(

48 hours for me until I see it.

I still think it will make enough money at Box Office, but maybe not what the Studio expects.

If it fails, expect Disney+ limited episode series Inhumans Vs Eternals. :o
