Eternals The Eternals General Disscussion and Speculation thread

Who is Karen? It seems like such an odd lead. Especially when Sersi was rumored to be the lead of it all. Curious to hear about casting in the coming months.

Yeah, casting for this can't come soon enough. Unfortunately we probably won't start hearing anything until this summer.
Eiza Gonzalez, Skarsgard, Luke Evans, Naomi Scott or Ana de Armas would be fantastic. I would be ecstatic if any of them get a role in this, let alone at least a couple of them.

Has Naomi Scott been in any dramatic roles?

Not really. She's a good actress though and she's going to be in the new Charlie's Angels later this year. She's going to have a big year with both that and Aladdin, so she's probably going to be in demand soon

This image does a lot to convey exactly how I want The Eternals movie to look and feel: dark, mysterious, vast, breathtakingly large in scope. Like Lord of the Rings, but with space gods.

I hope that's what they do. These are the LEAST relatable of the stable of Marvel characters. Dude Bro'ing them up will be a disservice to the concept and the history of these characters.

I just hope such a take isn't too out there and strange for Marvel to try and tackle. This was in my opinion, always Kirby's most peculiar contribution to the Marvel Universe (He didn't even plan on it being a part of the Marvel U proper) and I think to do it justice you can't really domesticate it. Marvel had a chance to embrace the far out with Dr. Strange but other than a few (too few) flourishes in the completed film, made a pretty safe and standard super hero origin movie (yes... The end solution is fun and inventive but most of the rest of the film is by the numbers).

This is a film that literally should tell the audience that all the history of the MCU you've seen, all the events on Earth and even out among the other races of aliens in space are all part of a mysterious plan enacted untold eons ago by silent cosmic leviathans who are the true ultimate judgers of humanity. It shouldn't be, well, banal.

I just want it to have that delightful poppy 1960s science fiction movie kind of feel to it

That was my big problem with the Doctor Strange movie and I hope they are trying to take risks with their formula because one size does not fit all.

I feel like the Guardians movies stray the furthest from the formula and trappings and they're better off for it, have personality and unique feelings. Replicating the music thing so flatly in Captain Marvel didn't work for me, I get they wanted 90s music but it's just thrown in like afterthoughts (not Suicide Squad bad, but not Guardians elegant).

It can be done. People will genuinely want to see where guys like Thanos came from.

Not sure thanos will be an eternal in the mcu. If the celestials are in this what do the eternals do? They beat them off only to destroy their planet anyway?

Sounds like it will be earth shattering.

Still think they'll make them aliens. Earth is already packed with super powered beings with more likely to come. It's an oportunity to expand the universe litterally.

Angelina Jolie In Talks to Make Marvel Debut In 'The Eternals' (Exclusive)

While details about the movie are being kept under wraps, sources tell The Hollywood Reporterthat one aspect to the story involves the love story between Ikaris, a man fueled by cosmic energy, and Sersi, who relishes moving amongst humans. It is unclear who Jolie will play. Marvel had no comment.
