So...I don't really know anything about the Eternals, but I noticed they have a child actor playing one of them. Apparently this character, Sprite, is an ancient immortal in the body of a child.

My question is how are they going to handle this character in future movies? The actor won't be a child for long, and will look much older even by her very next appearance. Unless the character is intended to be a one-off, it seems like a strange idea to have her be played by an actual child rather than a very young-looking adult.

This is why I'm thinking Sprite will do a heel turn in the movie and not be around for the sequel.

The Asian gay character is a lead character, not supporting. The character is not just going to be a love interest. So unless we are getting two gay characters in a relationship with each other, I don't think Ikaris is the gay character.

They were looking to cast a gay/bi actor for the role. None of the actors they cast are either, so I’m going to so assume it hasn’t been filled.

Ikaris being rumored to be a gay hero is because Richard Madden is potentially gay/bi. And based on Marvel’s goal to hire queer actors for their queer roles, it kind of adds up to be such. But again, it’s not confirmed.

I’m betting his love interest is the person above. I’m hoping so. I need more queer characters of color in the MCU.

They did genderswap and change karen to black knight. Obviously the script changed a lot from their first one/casting.

I believe ikrais is the gay one after rhat kevin's interview. "He Has a family and it's parod who he is" this is totally Ikaris thing.

They probably didn’t genderbend Karen. Karen could be someone who hasn’t been cast/announced yet.

What I assume is the case: Karen is either Sersi or who Salma Hayek ended up playing, Ajak, and the “Male Lead” is Kit Harrington.

Though I just hope this won't be an issue for other countries like China, Russia and the middle East, that the film would be edited to meet their *standards* or worse, not showing the film in theaters.

Well we don't know how much this character will feature in the film. Somehow I doubt that he will be shown kissing another man or things like that.

Why wouldn't he? God, I hope they don't refrain from showing him kiss his husband or be affectionate with him. It's really annoying when studios are like "Hey, look! We have a gay character! But don't worry, he doesn't do anything too gay." I remember when they made a big deal about Sulu being gay in the last Star Trek movie and he had like, one scene where he walked up to his husband and patted him on the shoulder.

Well it was just officially announced for Valkyrie, though Tessa Thompson was already saying the character was bi (like she is herself). I assume in the next movie we see Valkyrie in (Thor 4) they will show her orientation in some way (plus people hypocritically tend to be less outraged with a gay woman character).

I have no clue about anything when it comes to the Ethernals. Anybody want to give me a quick run down o their history, important characters, powers etc?

Oh he’s starting married? Oh that’s a bit...dull but maybe it could work.

I wonder what it was like finding a decent caterer for a wedding at the start of the universe? Oy such a drama

One could argue that fellowship of the ring in which no previous film appearance of any characters, had a large large cast - 9 fellows plus Arwen and Gollum were already 11 yet each one was presented fine (some better than others).

That’s before you counted famous actors playing supporting roles like Bilbo, Galadriel, Saruman, Elrond. Each one of these could have been presented on stage as well if it were introduced the MCU way at D23.

Okay its a almost a 3 hour film, still it’s not impossible to have a large cast and done well; it won’t be easy though.

I think if there is a compelling story, a focused cohesive plot, the cast pieces can fit well and naturally altogether into a right mix and assemble.

So Neil Gaiman did an eight issue miniseries in like 06 that it seems like they’ll take heavy inspiration from - it deals with the Eternals not remembering who they are and the question of why that is. That would help explain where they’ve been during previous MCU movies since their main goal is protecting the earth.

The other reason it seems likely they’ll pull from the run is at this point literally all the characters from it are in the movie and then some - Kingo, Phastos, Gilgamesh and Black Knight aren’t even in it.

Anyway, I don’t know if I should spoil something that COULD make its way into film but uh...if they pull from that...it’s a one-picture role
