I really hope he's more than a deus ex machina in this.

I think he will be. There was a Q&A around the time of the release of The Rogue Cut where Bryan Singer said that X-Men: Apocalypse will address Magneto and Quicksilver's relationship. He also said that Quicksilver will be present throughout the movie, "[w]ell, almost. I've got a surprise for you." He was pretty coy about it. What do you think it will be?

IRC Singer said, the song was only included when they were editing it, to see if it would improve the scene and it did, so I don't think it was intended in the first place for Peter to hear a song faster when he's in speed mode.
