Bridesmaids, only you strip away about 70% of the comedy and replace that with guns and pure feminine testosterone.

LOL @ an all female Expendables

they going for a straight up comedy it seems

I would love it though. That would be cool if happened.

The Expendables 2 was just pure fun. I didn't care for the story hell if I did I wouldnt like it that much.

I think that somebody important has been watching this thread, it's coincidence that 2 days after it was suggested here and got good feedback they decided to give a female version of expendables the green light. :ninja:
And it's not the first time, i remember making the MCU: Phase II thread as a reference to the cancelled Star Trek tv show and now Marvel is calling their set of movies leading to each Avengers film Phases :argh:

Cynthia Rothrock better be there. Also, this would be a great starter list.

I am oozing with glee right now.
I just watched it last night at an AMC ETX theater, and it was awesome. There were so many great moments in this.
Oh God, this was ****ing awesome. Van Damme was a great villain. Could have been in it a bit more, but only because I thought he was so great.
I loved Van Damme as well. I enjoyed his over the top accent of his accent, and he played the villain role well. I'm with you that he needed more screen time, and I felt that the
fight between him and Stallone was too short. I marked out for the Van Damme split kicks. :woot:
The action DELIVERED. I went in wanting a kickass movie with lots of action and cheesy one liners and I got it.
The best thing about this is that it let's you know right off the bat what kind of movie you're getting, and it doesn't apologize for it.

After
Billy the Kid gets killed
, that's pretty much what drives these characters.

Chuck Norris' scenes were my favorite.

This movie was made of win. Lots of fun, and had a lot of good nods to Rambo, Die Hard, Terminator, and others. Loved every minute of it.

9/10

The female Expendables would be tougher to do than the male ones because the genre is so male based and they drew on a whole era of tough guy in the first one.

Off the top of my head:

Pam Grier
Kate Beckinsale
Sigourney Weaver
Uma Thurman
Mila Jovovich
Angelina Jolie

If they are going to stretch to TV female badasses they have

Sarah Michelle Gellar
Linda Carter
Jennifer Garner
Lucy Lawless
Maybe Kristen Bell as their Q

I'd stick Hillary Swank in there just for the **** of it.

Holy f*** what the hell did I just watch??? I feel like I just got punched in the face, kicked in the stomach, body slammed on a metal pole, then drop kicked into a huge pile of bricks the exploded seconds ago!!

Solid 8 out of 10 from me. If only they had gotten Maggie Q instead of Nan Yu. I found her absolutely boring and not very attractive.

The Expendables 2 was awesome. It is in my top 3 movies of 2012 so far & Arnold stole the show for me

Loved this movie more than the first one. Full of win. I cheered, I laughed, I grew a beard in the theater. Norris was great, Van Damme as the villain was perfect, and IMO Lundgren and Arnold stole the show. 8/10 I want a third.

I'm going to see this tonight. So f'n excited.

Agreed.
I thought the Van Damme fight scene was way way too short, and even the lines during the fight were done very well. They should of gave him at least one more fight scene and made the Stallone fight a little more, kindof left me a tad disappointed.
I'm not a huge Chuck Norris fan, but his scenes were good and his reference to his mystic(Norris jokes), was great' I heard you were bit by a snake, I was and for 5 agonizing days and then the snake died' was golden..
I also thought they under used Scott Adkins, and his fight with jason could of been classic, but like the Van Damme it was too short.
Overall a good flick to watch, I think it was a little better than the first one.

Sitting in the theater right now for the 8pm showing pumped! Will give my thoughts later tonight.

I'll be seeing EX2 in about 2 hours.
Disappointing to hear Jet Li isn't in it much since it's his character I was looking forward to seeing the most. I hope he at least gets a good fight scene (without the shaky-cam bullsh**) before exiting.
I'm still pumped to see the movie though from the reactions I'm hearing.

What Li does on screen is definitely enough to redeem his absence for the rest of the film.

Questions

How were the fight scenes, were they choppy and sloppy, or actually choreographed good?

And does Van Damme die?

My Question is..

How in the F did they drive those SeaDoo's in the Plane, The rode them up from behind into the plane, but From what I can see the HU-16 ALbatross has no rear doors

I won't answer the 2nd one because I don't like to give spoilers or possible spoilers away...but the fight scenes were actually REALLY well done. I'm a fan of bringing the camera back a touch and letting the shot go on for 5 seconds or more so we can actually see what goes on. I LOVE the shots in Jackie Chan movies where there is a 15 second shot of beautifully choreography. That being said, Jet Li gets to shine in that way and the other fight scenes are easy to follow and you can see everything that happens.....and you can almost feel the impacts of the punches, especially during Stallone vs Van Damme!

Question to those that saw it: If I found the first one to be kind of generic and boring, do you think I might still enjoy this one? Or is it generally more of the same? I'm all for a bunch of brainless macho fun...as long as it's actually fun. The first one wasn't to me, so I was just gonna sit this one out, but Van Damme as the villain is tempting me.

This one is fun. The difference between this one and the first one is that this time around, the cast are totally in on the joke and pretty much embrace the 'cheesiness' of it all.

Not to say its a comedy or anything but...it's clear that they made it a point to have a helluva lot more fun this time around.

There are so many winks and nods to the fanbase by the cast that I couldn't help but smile through most of the film.

Easily. I didn't like the first at all. This is what the first movie should have been.

You were right but after seeing his fight scene (and the way it was filmed) it hurt to know Jet was done for the rest of the movie. They just pulled the camera back and let him do what he does best with a long take that had me cheering. Finally we get a director that knows how to film a damn fight scene for a change and the best martial artist in the picture is done after 15 minutes lol. With that said even with the absence of Li I had a great time watching the movie and it's hands down better than the first. You can tell the cast was having a good time and not taking anything seriously which added to the fun of it all. I'm not a big JCVD fan but I found him great as a villain and wanted more screen time for him.
