The FFINO ZONE - Part 1

Fox has two things they have no business having & will never use

Fantastic Four
Star Wars

Fox gives both to MARVEL & MARVEL lets Fox do a X-Men TV Show. That is fair for everyone

I have no idea whether that would work in an American context, but I am certain the threshold for misuse would be greater than making a movie that the fans didn't like.

I don't really think it's helpful to say that those who trashed the movie are "winners" and those that wanted it to be good are "losers." The Fantastic Four having another underwhelming movie that further damages the brand surely means that we're all losers.

Is there anything to stop Fox just pumping out a shorter, cheaper, and more slap-dash movie in six years' time?

Yeah, the board of directors and the studio head. Fox may be greedy but their not stupid. Even on a shoe string budget they can't make much of this.

Look at what they've done to Percy Jackson, a very popular young adult series, especially in the U.S. but Fox pretty much screwed that series with an unfaithful adaptation partnered with long delays between series, and now stars Logan Lerman and Alexandra Daddario are out of the series.

Now they are continuing with the third film, but they've all but alienated the fan base of the books with unfaithful adaptations, and now the main actors are out of the film. The second film was a total flop, so how will the third film be profitable?

Fox can say what they want, but they don't have a leg to stand on at this point. Unless this movie massively surprises to a 70M opening (anyone care to bet on that one?), the Fantastic Four are dead at Fox.

Not if it means its one big step closer to being back where it belongs.

If FF was ever going to have a chance at being done well on film, this film had to fail.

Absolutely true. I am really depressed, because the brand has been damaged, so even what Marvel gets back will be difficult to resurrect.

It was different with Daredevil. The Affleck film was 13 years ago and mostly forgotten.

In fairness, Fox never had Star Wars. They were distributors only. Star Wars rights have always been with Lucasfilm.

Totally get what you're saying about the winners/losers thing (in fact I've posted as much recently) but..........

.......those of us who have been taking ill of this production for a while can at least feel a bit vindicated, in that it's been shown that we weren't just doing so for the sake of it. There were legitimate warning signs and some tried to make out like those that saw them were just being drama queens/overly critical/had an agenda; which was VERY frustrating to say the least. I wouldn't exactly use the word 'victory' here, but if I did it would be a very hollow one. Yet again, so much potential and enjoyment squandered in the pursuit of greed.

I think the horrendous departure from the source that this latest movie is, helps in the process of a new version. Marvel makes a colorful, fun adventure, and the public will have no trouble seeing it as a totally different thing.

Had this movie been a little more faithful, at least aesthetically, then there you have problems.

But we did it?

That's distribution (DVDs and such). They can make more Star Wars movies.

But Disney can not release anything Episode 4 or Box Set related without giving Fox some of the profit. Im sure they would like nothing more than to cut Fox out of that

I think that Fox might let the rights revert to Marvel / Disney if

1. Marvel is willing to give up the rights to the X-men TV show Fox is wanting to make.

2. If fans stick together and let Fox know they will not be seeing any more of their comic book movies unless they return the rights. If Fox thinks their stubbornness could damage their other properties I am pretty sure they will let it go.

Don't think I've ever paid so much attention to a rotten tomatoes score than with this movie

I want more reviews now!!!

Me too. I need to see if the trend continues or if this has a chance to get back on its feet

Best case scenario is give them the X-Men on TV. Fox can handle the X-Men franchise, and Marvel has no use for it soon, so win-win.

Yeah, that's worth some money, but I don't think it's critical.

I'll do you one better. I will not buy a ticket or home release for any Fox film until Fantastic Four comes home (save Dragon Ball films, which are TOEI films with a contractually obligated Fox credit).

Yeah, that's worth some money, but I don't think it's critical.

But would they put The Force Awakens in a Box Set next year ? If that meant giving Fox some money off of the new movie ? Stuff like that would make Disney avoid Box Sets

There's no negotiations needed. What studio exec will greenlight a sequel for this? They'd lose their job, when they have much more profitiable properties like X-men, and Planet of the Apes.

If there's no sequel made the rights go back to Marvel.

You can't negotiate if you have nothing to bargain with.

They finally show Doom's face in close up in this latest clip

Gotta say, Doom looks like a shrink wrapped Ghoul

Yeah this movie definitely isn't getting that TMNT money. This is not little kid friendly.

(If I'm going to be honest though I actually like that clip. I'm all for a villain creating some horror movie terror. I can get behind some of the ideas in this movie; not everything has to be like the MCU. Still, a dud is a dud.)

Not gonna lie though, after seeing that scene with doom walking down the hallway killing people, I'm very intrigued.

Doom looked like absolute crap, but still intrigued nevertheless.

Fox has already showed us that they can do a FF movie just to keep the rights, with no regards of quality, with as little production values as they care at the moment. That's their bargain chip.

Marvel on the other hand has showed that they can make a movie out of anything, so they can wait out until Fox is sick of making a FF movie every 7 years.

I hope everyone just realize that the fans are getting hurt in the process and make what is best for all.

Fox has the A New Hope / Episode 4 rights until about 20ish something

Fox currently have the distribution rights for all 6 prior SW films until 2020 then they lose all but one: They have the distribution rights for Episode IV: A New Hope 'in perpetuity'.

Not a lot Fox can do with that on it's own, but it is a potential spanner in the works for Disney in any future collection sets and so on they might want to produce when the new flicks are out.

So that nugget and the FF aint bad bargaining chips to use for the X-Men tv rights we know they do want. Get Disney to throw in a re-instatement of tie-in merch for the X-verse stuff and both sides can declare a win and both can profit soon from such a deal (tie-in merch for Apocalypse ought to do well for example, with Marvel getting their plus 50% and Fox getting their plus 40%).

Unfortunately seeing if the Mouse & the Fox can sit down and agree on what seems like a sensible solution to us is another matter....
