The FFINO ZONE - Part 1

So it sounds like I'll wait for this to come on Netflix... and then not watch it.

TBH, a lot of my worries from the start were that, because of Tranks original comments and Jordan's casting, it seemed clear that he wanted to make a Chronicle sequel and was stuck shoehorning his ideas into a F4 movie instead.

His recent comments at CC that he saw this as "a Chronicle sequel" just confirmed this. They should have just left him to Chronicle 2 and given this to someone passionate about the material.

I would LOVE to have seen what Peyton Reeds' 60s period Fantastic Four would have been like. That would be a really great way to go with this property.

Great news, everyone, FF scored 1 point higher on Metacritic. It's now at 33!

Seriously.

If they wanted to involve Doom in the story, then Reed, Johnny, Ben and SUE are the ones who go to 'Planet Zero' and Doom stays behind in the control room.

Doom sabotages the controls forcing Reed to figure out from the other side how to bring them all back to reality -- his actions there result in the 4 getting their powers but the return trip causes a system overload that explodes in Doom's face. He gets scars but no powers, and blames Reed for the whole thing.

Simple, no?

Wow, you fixed one major flaw in the final product easy as that. Not bad.

If that's the case too bad they didn't throw the script o somebody who could have fixed a number of things without changing the entire script.

A good writer could have told them from the start--just rename him victor von doom and drop the Domashev nonsense, just make Sue black and forget wasting time with the adoption angle--it adds nothing. Cut out the Ben was bullied angle---the fans will hate that, etc.

Thy could have trimmed out 20 bad things from the script and lessened the mess they were making.

And if they had taken it to a script doctor early--they might have convinced them---"Bell's a good actor, but he's wrong for Grimm.

By limited commitment do you mean Disney are obligated to sell a certain minimum line of merchandise? Don't they already sell Merchandise for X-Men in conjunction with the movies?

In which case Fox would only benefit by increased exposure and nothing monetarily.

My thought that Marvel (through Disney Consumer Products) would put out a limited line of products - not a full line as with their MCU properties.

Marvel sells a limited amount of X-Men merchandise and it has no connection with FOX's film series.

FIXED

I don't forsee that deal playing out as you did.. Marvel has no desire to even want to have soul merch rights over a movie franchise they don't really care about supporting or not...

Agree 100%! No way would Marvel make that deal, especially with the way Fox has been treating them concerning characters that Fox has no plans on using. That merchandising goes a long way!!

And why does this thread still exist? Nobody is still defending this film? we should lock this since it's confirmed that FF 2015 is suffering from near universal dislike.

You'd be surprised! I think if it does $40M OW, those defending the movie will come back on Sunday or Monday with their chest stuck out. The war ain't over yet.

Fox sees the fan reactions to the film.
Meanwhile a phone starts to ring in an office.
A man with his back turned answers the phone.
Kevin Feige: Hello?
Fox Executive: "Yeah.....we need to talk about the Fantastic Four..."
Feige smiles.

civil war post credits stinger right there :D

Should've been the post credits scene to the movie lmao

So people will be defending a movie which they didn't bother to go see? Ant-Man raises you $58 million dollars when it had just as many issues with rewrites and reshoots.

40M is a flop in my book. With FF1's multiplier it would be at 110, with ROTSS multiplier it would be 90M. That's pretty much Green Lantern territory.

Yep...they screwed up Mandarin. But at least they acknowledged it and did the fans a solid after the fact. If they ever were to follow up on it.

Some fans *believe* they screwed up the Mandarin. That's far and away from objective fact.

If the Mandarin weren't used in the manner he was, he probably wouldn't have been used at all. As is, we got Kingsley doing a good "fake" Mandarin, and Pierce doing a good real Mandarin. Most people found this perfectly fine.

I don't have the love or appreciation for the original material like most of ya'll in here, but it does bum me out that ya'll won't get a true adaption for a very long time. Some chance of Marvel getting the rights back, I don't see them rebooting so quickly. 5-10 yrs from now maybe?

I think this may be a worst case scenario of "sequel no matter what".

Ah I just posted it in the Reborn thread.
If I knew I wouldn't have psoted there

Yeah I read that Esquire article. I still love him as an actor. But yeah he comes off as a *****e. But then the article is written in the most stupid manner.

Teller in the interview really reminded me of Shia LaBeouf from a bit ago. Just the way he reads.

Don't *****es often have *****ey faces, though? I don't know whether they act up to people's expectations of their punchable faces, or whether a lifetime of *****ery results in physically *****ed features.

I agree but I'm hoping this thing doesn't do anything over $90M DOM. This thing deserves to flop harder than a fish fresh out of water.

A very talented *****e tho. :oldrazz:

Also, I do believe some are exaggerating on twitter about Trank's career being over. He can still work on smaller scale films, but won't get a huge budget ever again. He seems like a good guy to me tho, just wasn't right for the material. I mostly blame FOX for taking his pitch. If ya'll listen to the Kevin Smith interview, it wasn't him who reached out about F4.

This reminds me of how angry the Amazing Spider-Man series made me. I can relate to seeing a property that you love destroyed by a bunch of people with the most uninteresting and suckiest ideas possible. Ideas that were executed in the worst possible way.

If I were a meaner person I would have started an "I told you so" thread in The Amazing Spider-Man forums. I despised that version of the franchise since it was first announced and it never proved me wrong. I don't know if people realize how much I hated the Webverse.

Agreed. Though this doesn't seem like an effort able to overcome a poor RT score (TMNT, Bayformers etc) stranger things have happened.

Just today I've seen 3 TV spots btw and....no Fox logo, just the Marvel one, and had to tell my nephew this is not in the MCU....

Ignorance of that could be this things best weapon, sadly.

Another RT negative---- 2of 12 16.6%

Those damn fanboy, anti Fox, MCU loving mainstream critics!!!
