Just the fact that Trank responded to the reviews on Twitter shows that he is pretty broken up about this. Guy wanted people to hear his side but only made things worse.

On Collider Movie Talk John Campea said that he heard rumors that Fox cut the budget before filming...like did with the first X-Men film in 1999.

Yeah, after 18 months of denying the rumors and kissing Fox's @$$. Then after all that "Better than the last 2" was all he could come up with.

The RUMOR is that the budget for the 3D conversion was spent on the extensive reshoots.

Maybe; I guess the extensive reshoots also meant that they simply did not have enough time to complete 3D conversion in time for the scheduled release date.

This movie was amazing! I don't know why people keep bagging it, the visuals were stunning, the story was captivating, the chemistry between the characters was realistic and worked very well and I can't even begin to explain how good Dr. Doom as a villain was and how well he was developed! An easy 9.5/10

Which is why I'm inclined to blame Fox more than Trank.
It sounds like Trank did his thing, for better or for worse, but Fox's meddling is what brought us here today. It'd be like if a parent left a child unattended and the kid ruined an expensive carpet. Instead of coming in and trying to get the stain out, the parents burned the house down and tried to pretend that everything is fine.
"What house? Oh, it's fine. We're pretty proud of what we've built. Oh, the smoke? It's not from a fire, we promise."
Again, I could be totally 100% wrong and if so, then that's fine. It's more than possible that Trank really pooped the bed and didn't even finish the movie. But that's my gut reaction.

Faraci wrote that F4 review to throw a bone to his friends Trank and Slater. He uses his website to pimp out his friends in the industry. Directors that he has personal vendettas with like JJ Abrams and Bryan Singer always get ripped for the smallest things.

The guy made a straight up boring plodding movie ( which is how the first act is being described) He didn't give a $*** about FF and FF fans. He made the movie HE wanted. Fox saw the result and realized it was going to fail, so they made a desperate, late and lame attempt to fix it.
Of course Fox is to blame, but Trank made a movie virtually no fan of trafitional FF would have wanted.
He's behaved like a idiot and a spoiled brat.
He had the rest of his life and career to complain about how Fox handled the situation and he sabotages the movie the day it opens?
It proves he is unstable and had/has no business working on projects like this.
And now clowns are trying to champion his cause and turn him into a martyr??
People are sad.

...I can't argue against this and actually agree.

I feel bad for Trank in the way that he obviously has a disconnect with people and in the end it's really going to get in his way.

But except for that, I have zero sympathy for him, Fox, whoever regarding this film. You disrespect and disregard the fanbase to this absurd degree and think you know better, then you sow what you reap.

After saying that you wouldn't pay to see it? I said that if this film scored under 40 on Metacritic, I wouldn't watch it. I haven't seen it yet but I've read enough spoilers to have an opinion and much like Pixels, it sounds disappointing.

I used a free ticket voucher for MI5 and walked into the showing. I was too curious about the movie, and my personal life won't permit me to see it anytime in the next few weeks.

I did some admittedly unscientific research on ticket sales for FF this weekend and the results are stunning and AWESOME!!!!
The newest most modern theater here in West Palm Beach has all reserved/assigned seating. People go online and reserve seats and pay for them.
The facts...
MI:RN is showing on two screens (it's second week) & FF only one and they kept MI in the main and only IMAX screen. So 8 friday & saturday evening showings for MI and only 4 for FF.
I went to al 12 showings and counted how many seats had already ben reserved and paid for.
The tally----
MI has 185 total seats so far reserved combined and
FF has a grand total of 26 !!!
That's a freaking 7 to 1 ratio.

I don't know how it will play out, but if MI can merely beat FF, let alone clobber it on it's opening weekend---that would set the stage for it being a mega flop!
Here's hoping.
