The FFINO ZONE - Part 3

With Disney's D23 coming soon, do you reckon that Marvel (as respectable as they are) will make an obvious joke or even a sly joke at Fan4stic?

It'd be so good. Or perhaps a member of the audience will ask Feige or someone about it and the rights?
I think their priority at D23 will be to talk about their upcoming projects .
I doubt FF will come up .

With all the BTS shenanigans Ant-Man went through. I was very surprised that film ended up as good as it was. For quite sometime I thought it was gonna be Marvels first rotten film and wouldn't make that much money and I was wrong. But yeah this is all but surprising. Just goes to show that one studio cares more about it's properties than the other.:csad:

The difference is Marvel said: "This isn't working. Let's start fresh with a new director." and Fox said "This isn't working, but we don't want to lose the rights so we'll charge full-speed ahead with a crappy film."

But with all the talk from Fox about how "difficult" it is to make an FF film, Marvel managed to make a film about a guy who talks to ants work.

I would laugh if it didn't hurt so much.

Y'know, that's got me thinking - I've yet to hear a cinematic Marvel villain say ''BAH!''. There was a time when that was pretty much a Marvel comic book staple; especially with Doom.

There was no chance of Kebell's Domashev Doom saying that when he was walking round in jeans and had Franklin Storm telling him to get cleaned up after living in his basement for the past year surfing blogs. And then Doom with a flask of alcohol?

I'm going to guess that the member of the FFINO that told Trank that he doesn't think this movie is good was Miles Teller. He has already been on record saying he knows the fans hate him for ruining the F4, he is a rising star who's not really friends with Trank(which rules out MBJ)...........and that's it. I think it's him or Mara but with Teller's arrogance, I can see it being him. He seems to have the balls to not bite his tongue.

Old news but just want to say I was right. Eat it and weep I See Spidey! :o

Just tell me I was right just once! :argh:

I doubt that any fans asked about F4 at D23, otherwise we'd have seen some articles by now. Oh well.

At least it is still doing pants at the box office. Dat over 60% drop.

If somebody asked, the answers was probably something like: "We value our relationship with our partner and wish them nothing but success with their efforts to bring FF and X-Men to the big-screen."

Fixed. :o

MovieBob's follow up vid over at Screwattack concerning the aftermath of F4, and the franchise's future was spot on.

Imagine if Deadpool gets bad reviews too...someone will committ suicide here lol.

I have a feeling it could. It may please fans, but from the trailer, it doesn't look like it will be up for a lot of Oscars.

But if they give the fans what they want, it may make some money even if the critics hate it. That's the big mistake Fox made with FF, they made a film that both critics and fans hated.

The thing that bothers me the most about Deadpool is the budget. $50 million dollars. I hope it still matters to be good but my expectation is around The Wolverine to Ant-Man.

I actually welcome movies with smaller budgets. They usually have to be more inventive and character-focused, instead of blowing up cities. Let's also remember Dredd.

edit: Last night, I watched Ex Machina. Very good, and probably in my top10 Sci-Fi movies list already. 15 million dollar budget. While the movie was contained, the special effects - which were good - served the characters and the story. Too often movies have it backwards.

I'm not interested in Deadpool as of today but I think it's a good sign that Fox isn't hiding the film like they hid Fantastic Four. I'm not saying it's going to be at the top of the hill review wise but I could see decent reviews for it like Kick-Ass and Kingsman garnered, maybe not quite as good as those.

It's going to be difficult for me to predict the box office because my interest in the product is so very low. Most of the time I actually over predict films that I have no interest in. I might just skip predicting it and differ to the experts.

I think a great Deadpool can be made for $50 million. It's not like the FF, where you need CGI every time the Thing's on camera or any time there's any action and they're using their powers. Deadpool should be able to do some really cool things with fairly traditional (and inexpensive) stunt-work, and I think $50 million should be more than enough if they use what they have right.

That lower budget also puts a lot less pressure on it to be a success. If Deadpool does just a little better than FF is doing (which is a very low bar), that will probably be enough to call it a success.

You're exactly right, a Deadpool movie can be made on the cheap and still be appropriate for the character. It amazes me that Fox didn't green light this movie earlier, it seems like a no brainer. But I guess that's par for the course when you're talking about the same people responsible for FFINO.

I think the smartest thing Fox has done is keep Deadpool's budget firmly in check. I don't think that Deadpool is a sure thing at all so a 50 million budget is a great idea.

It is shameful how ****ing cheap they were when it came to Fantastic Four. Before reshoots the budget was probably a 100mil when it should have been no lower than 150-160mil. I'm sorry but when you are making a film about a superhero team you have to spend a lot of money.

Deadpool may end up with a narrow audience, but the folks behind it are at least targeting somebody. As many of us have been suggesting the past year, who was FFINO for? Even if it wasn't a complete dumpster fire, I doubt it would have outperformed ROTSS.

FFINO wasn't for kids, longtime FF fans or supporters of the Story films. The leads had no box office appeal, and the merging of a family friendly franchise with a hard sci-fi, body horror approach would turn off more folks than it would bring in.

Despite Trank's lack of pofessionalism, this thing was doomed from the start.

Ant-Man had a bigger budget than this. Let's take a moment to think about that.
